China’s outgoing leader has warned corruption could destroy the Communist Party but stepped up plans to double the size of the economy and build a powerful maritime force. Disclaimer & comment rulesHopefully one day China will follow the Latin America path of 21st century socialism, but despite all the many downsides of the current regime, it must be said its still working on the raising of unprecedented numbers out of poverty, and a catastrophic collapse would be much worse for the Chinese people, as we saw in Yeltsin's Russia

Surely a country as successful as China would look for a successful model.
Hey! How about democracy? That seems to work pretty well, and then the socialists will have to prove that their way is the best way.
But South American Socialism is more corrupt than the current Communist regime in China ever could be.
@LEPRecon.....there is no successful model for a nation of 1.5 billions, 90% in hand-to-mouth circumstances, to follow. It must make its own model. And it must make it in a world (1) whose current European power structure is only one step removed from colonialism no matter how blandishing its China rhetoric and (2) whose current Americas power structure is so besotted with hereditary colonialists in the South and predatory capitalists in the North that China must check its pockets for its wallet after it shakes hands with either.....But it will survive....If it doesn't get its butt nuked....
