It really is a load of garbage.

Don't recall seeing a single placard about family allowances.

Nobody works 24 hours a day - you would be dead in a week.

Ironically she plays the victim card again, completely, whilst saying she hates those that victimise themselves.

A serious leader is needed, not this Sarah Palin of the South.

She isn't victimising herself because of course Argentina is never the victim, never says people attack them, never does anything wrong then says it was someone elses fault, no no no.
Was this speech at a press conference or in her usual big brother announcements to the state? Oh yeah, i forgot, she doesn't give press conferences because journalists are uncivilsed. Right.

    “Alternative model”...
As an outsider and reader of Argentine's affairs as they affect countries outside that much maligned and yet potentially great country, I say, to CFK, Great! Let the country take up your suggestion- step aside by allowing a general election, free and open to alternative models.

She is complaining about no counter leadership. Well isn't something when she is doing all she can to control the media, threaten people with imprisonment if they question her version of things (e.g. economic stats) and generally being a mentally unstable authoritarian.

She is certainly a socialist in the image of Peron, a National Socialist.

This web site first should write leastwise article titles correctly.

    this title should be;
” Argentine President criticizes the lack of alternative political leaderhip to present model(leadership). ”

these protest are routine/sport for Argentina
it will be forgotten and will be passing to next other protests.

this is a different culture which is abstruse and unconventional especially for English origin countries who have never elected freely their head of state and have no any idea how these systems run.

i didn't read the article and comments becouse i disapprove in person to discuss them with very outer mouths.

    @11
never had a freely elected head of state? are you talking about the queen? the queen has zero power. Our prime minister makes the decisions, and even though he wouldnt be my personal choice, last time i checked there was definitely an election.
And living in a country where the government does' not spend millions of taxpayers money on building up hate for the only media group who speaks out against them, building up hate for the falklanders, for repsol, the yanquis, the west, the middle class etcetc but instead on fuelling growth and productivity....better and more sustainable for sure. Argentina is becoming more and more 'us and them' - and full of hate. Great achievement cristina.
Can you not see that your 'model' is failing? Are you blind? look out of your window. crime inflation, corruption, failing industry... this was not the argentina of 4 years ago.I admire your loyalty to your dear leader but eventually Argentina will have to start addressing the problems that are building up. What do you think argentina will be like in 10 years if this 'model' (read - poorly thought out experiment) continues? It makes me sad to think.
And how LOW of Cristina to accuse all the protesters of campaigning against the family allowance. Similar policies are standard in any developed country. But any sane administration also has policies to encourage job growth, instead of making people dependent on handouts. Ask 9 out of 10 people and they will say they would prefer to work and accept these handouts, funding for which is vanishing by the day. Shame theres no productive jobs going cos all the businesses are scared off and people have to resort to crime instead.

So; that’s what your “Little something” was all about!

The replacement of professional British Combat troops in occupied Malvinas by Dad’s Army troops…

Has ”Joe Bloggs Curry Take Away” got the contract with the MoD for their Catering?

Anyhow; I think this is a wise first move from London…..:
    First move….: Dad’s Army to the Islands……

Second move…: Transplanting military pensioners (as in the 1850’s) , embedding them Islands with a loyalist population who has the skills and experience to defend Her Majesty’s supreme rights against any uppity colonial Kelper.

Third move….: Invigorate and revitalize the vibrant social fabric of them Islands and rejuvenate its aging population by establishing a re-convalescence center for all those young crippled, maimed and limbless veterans from Britain’s last many inglorious wars.

To the protestors: Many people, especially ignorant people, want to punish you for speaking the truth, for being correct, for being you. Never apologize for being correct, or for being years ahead of your time. If you're right and you know it, speak your mind. Even if you are a minority of one the truth is still the truth. --Ghandi

@20 In Argentina maybe, in other countries, journalists do not fear repercussions from the government if they express their opinions. Obviously everyones views are subjective, but being able to say those views, whether they are pro or anti, is part of a free press.

Any administration which has that many people taking to the streets to protest against it can not be thought of as doing a good job can it? I mean, a government is there to serve EVERYONE, and while not everyone can be happy all of the time, to have 1mn people so unhappy that they take to the streets, is a sign of a failed regime.

Those protesting are not the middle class workers who are striving to save abit of money, but cant do that in pesos as the value drops every day with the governments inflation lies?
I agree inequality in Argentina needs to be tackled. Maybe sorting out your tax system would help? instead of stealing land and resources, bankrupting and expropriating the businesses which are necessary for long term growth, forcing the most productive to leave the country in search of opportunities and breeding hatred of anyone who thinks differently?
Argentina used to be my favorite country on the face of the planet. Now theres so much hate, so much anger. Its completely polarised, and not a pleasant place to be anymore.

I never said that, I stated that lots of them are common folks airing discomfort.
    Mainly insecurity.
And insecurity can be battled on two fronts. 1 by increasing the police and decreasing the freedom of the people, and 2 by addressing the poverty.
Number 1 has been tried and tested many places globally and tends to lead to overcrowded jails, not reducing crime a bit.

Of course the oligarchy will cry, nobody expects them to drop their standard of living by own free will.

December should be fun to watch as each Province runs out of $ to pay salaries and expenses they will rely on Fed gov't x-fers which won't be forthcoming. The $ for subsidies (bribes) is all but gone. Very little reserves are left, very little U$ are left in the banking system, Anses stated they can't pay full pensions, grains are falling, crops will be avg to bad next year, but what will be the last straw...hard to say but we all know it is coming soon.

and why do you think insecurity is growing? Because poverty is NOT being addressed! It hasnt decreased since 2008 at all, stuck stubbornly at around 21%, despite the lies Cristina spouts about it falling to 6% (you just need to look out your window to know that isnt the case)
You know the best way to tackle poverty and in turn, insecurity?
You create jobs. you invest in creating a skilled workforce, through education, through training, through providing opportunities. You form an environment where businesses and entrepreneurship can grow and prosper (stable currency, low risk, respect for laws, property rights...) You build relationships based on transparency, you gain respect through cooperation within the international community. You produce something that is of value to the world, which increases wealth and prosperity. and if the wealth goes disproportionately to the richer in society, you implement taxes in a transparent and non-corrupt way, and you provide a social safety net for the weakest.
You cant provide a social safety net if businesses are failing, you have such low tax income as evasion is easier than compliance. you cant build fruitful relationships internationally if you are the world's laughing stock, and if your president says she wont pay back her debts, while simultaneously begging for foreign investment in total desperation. The height of hypocracy.

I assume it is not the country where I live i.e.Argentina, where inflation soars, crime is rife (robberies and killings on a daily basis), corruption is at its highest level even worse than in the Menem era), the country has turned into a drug traffic haven, citizens and journalist who criticizes the Governments policies get publicly slammed by Cristina in her epic national broadcasts and many have the Afip visiting them the very next day, and people who protest peacefully against these issues are automatically tagged by Cristina´s cronies and supporters as posh upper class citizens (you called them oligarchs) who work in this country and pay their taxes, while corrupt politicians like Bodou make a fortune with our money? If you do you are more gullible than I thought you were!!!!

The famous “oligarchs” from your 1970's revolutionary dreams NEVER went out on the streets, they never even lived in Argentina, they were in Paris, New York, London, antwhere but where their precious lives might be in peril. And nothing has changed except that they are a good bit richer and laughing a good bit harder at the ridiclous spoutings of the outdated Tupas, ERP, Montoneros, MPT, etc.

The truth of the matter is that the protest was massively supported by every strata of society, including those that get government subsidies, simply because the subsidies no longer provide enough contention to make them feel safe, thanks to inflation!!!!!!!!

What? you want an Geography lesson now? Well, OK if you want.... The 3rd World would be considered those that have not yet fully developed economically or socially ( so you could count Argentina among them ) ..............

But hey there you go, that's just my take on it. If you are a Thinker then PLEASE, PLEASE explain the two statements below ( if you can!!! )

Griesa's comments came in response to remarks by Argentine President Cristina Fernandez, who said the country would not pay “one dollar to the 'vulture funds'.”

But she immediately continued recalling that “this is the president who most money invested in ARA Libertad, and I can assure you this government is going to recover her”.

The only way I can explain them is that

It's an interesting take on the motivation of those going out on the street to suggest that they are protesting about not being able to get cheap domestic labour. I sympathise, I really do. Here in the UK it's absolutely impossible to get anyone to do anything for less than the minimum wage plus National Insurance contribution - unless one pays cash of course but that creates all sorts of difficulties with HM Revenue and Customs. For a while those Poles and Liths were the answer but even they have cottoned on now. Still, I wonder if the pots and pans in use on the streets the other day were clean or dirty. We should be told so we can make up our own mind on whether or not the supply of domestic servants in Argentina has dried up (or should that be washed and dried up?).

@7 Was that it then? Executive Council approved the immediate investigation of the legal requirements and consequences of the creation of a Port Authority in the Falkland Islands and further investigation of the Joint Venture led funding model with the private sector as a potential long-term strategy for funding port infrastructure? And you think that stopped all subsequent mentions of the Falkland Islands by the President of Argentina do you? Uhm, equally interesting.

What part of the margna carta and later versions of it have you not read? Oh i get it you haven't read any the original or later version. Therefore you don't know what your talking about. The Queen became head of state by lineage i.e. her ancestors were appointed Head of State by the people when the magna carta was first signed by King John whom was appointed the first head of state.

Now there has been debates recently about whether to keep the monacrchey or not. Why do you think those debates are allowed, if the queen was not a servant of the people and subject to the peoples rule? Simple, its because we the people have the right to take away her appointment of head of state as and when we choose, which by doing so would end the monarcy.

Also you have alot to thank us for too. Because if it wasn't for the magna carta, democracy and freedoms we have today would not exist and we would all be the subjects of despot rulers, and dictator. Which you argentines know all about, don't you!

And, the Argentines usually have a new currency every 20. She gave herself too much credit, but she shouldn't take so much blame.

@96 Tipsy - Comparing french history with british/english history is no comparison!

Britain/England has been a democracy for almost 800 years. The first elected parliment being De Montfort's Parliament in 1265!

Noe France on the other hand was an absolute monarcy uptil 1792 - 3 years after the start of the french revolution!

As for the comparison of both countries history in the last 2 hundred years - Well fpr france you have - Nepoleon, german invasion in WWI, German conquest and occupation in WW2 and more recently strong supporters of an EU wide STATE, run by unelected officials.

FOr Britain we have Beat Nepoleon, Helped the virtually won WW1 for you even though it wasn't really our fight as the germans weren't invading us, help along with the americans, and other allies to liberate Franch in WW2 (Giving the french their democracy and freedom back! and now are position ourselves to stick the fingers up at the unelected EU officials and EU states that want to create 1 EU super state, in order to protect not just british sovereignty, but our very way of live and democratic society along with the freedoms that come with it. As i said, we rule the queen and the politicians here in the UK so their is no way we will give up or freedom and rule over this country so that unelected EU officials can stick their noses into our daily lives and tell us want we can and can't do and tax us to high heaven.

Now do you really want to carry on comparing the democratic histroy of Britain/England with that of France's. Personally as france has only been a democarcy for only just 220 years compared to 800 years here in britain. Youd be pretty foolish to even contemplate making such comprasion in the first place.

Though its interesting how you only wanted to compare the last 200 years and not the last 800 years, but then hardly surprising since franch only has 220 years of democracy!!

To die for dreams of the past, , we I can agree in part,
if you accept that CFK and argentina dying for a dream of the past events that they never owned or held, would be not only a false dream, but yes many will die for dreaming of it..

I see thee, thee I see, thine equivocations! But leery is the unscrupulous one, to dare thrust upon an issue, that which is pellucidly extraneous. These dreams are for the brothers, not for the fiends, fiends who shelter in wind-swept isles or dwell in dry monolithic limestone athwart the beaten seas.

An angel fiend is still a fiend, and a wretched brother still a brother. Blood cannot be stanched, and foreign blood can poison. Bane to the ones from beyond! Who wish us ill, harm, and wrath.

And still the above holds true, that dreams are no pabulum, but they sure can starve.

131 - Its Teaboy2 Not lipton (even if it is a brand of tea), i do not refer to you by anything other user name so i expect the same level of mutual respect.

As for this statement - “All societies have been democrat at the same time non democrat.” So all countries in the world are democracy then even if they are communism, which is a non democractic country - jesus your logic is flawed!

And for this statement - “You can not talk about ” democracy “” becouse you didn't use your democratic rights on British Iraq/Afghanistan military operations as making in a referandum for inquiry and decision making.” I think you will find the policitians who represent their own local areas own local population, voted in parliment in favour of it. When we vote people into parliment they represent us for the full term until we vote someone else in during the next election. Thats how democracy works idiot. We have the power to call on the government by petitioning them if we are not happy with what they are doing.

@138 - Point is it was elected, thats is democracy - So what about the years between 1649 -1680 those were the years of civil war between the royalists and Parliamentarians, parliment was still in control of the country, though people were split between supporting the king or parliment, but parliment won in the end and therefore so did democracy. So your point is kind of mute.

Damn right. Between that misunderstanding and your correction, you raise a good point. It is, however, a point that is lost on those who live in flawed deomcracies based on thing but populism and theft.

Did Galtieri offer the Argentine people a referendum on starting a war which could only ever have ended in a hilariously humiliating defeat for the Argentine slave army? Yes you can claim that the evil junta didn't express the will of the people BUT every single action your (supposedly democratic) governments have taken since the 1983 have shown your support for their genocidal agenda AND the whole world has seen some hilarious footage of the Argentine people turning out in their tens of thousands to support the VIOLENT AND MURDEROUS SUBJUGATION OF A FEW THOUSAND PEACEFUL ISLANDERS. Where was your moral objection to war, violence and subjugation then?

Even 29 years after the fall of the Military Junta you still host nationalist rallies and mint commemorative coinage celebrating your GLORIOUS VICTORY OF 14000 CONSCRIPTS OVER 2000 INNOCENT COLONISTS AND 80 ROYAL MARINES before 1200 special forces kicked your heads in.

So, you want to complain that a million or more protesting in London against the Iraq war didn't bring down a government? We have since used democracy to do away with that government and the Iraq war is done with. Maybe 30 years from now Argentina will grow up and treat the falklands with the same equantimity.

For perspicacious wisdom knows like a touchtone acumen, that it is the most execrable among us who villanously usufruct “time” to emblazon chimerical rights to satisfy the most abased, quenchless pleonexia:

“ruthless self-seeking and an arrogant assumption that others and things exist for one's own benefit”

Yet that same innefable fiend that uses “time” for this wretched purpose, then seeks to discard time when the shameful immoralities which longer existence naturally usher as concomitants balk their cupidity.

These urchins inveigle Father Time to further their wordly rights, but then betray it when time proves inconvenient.

But despair because of thee I shall not. For condign comeuppance for such debauched and warped codes of conduct will befall. The Sages tell it is so.

The problem isn't the absence of an Opposition alternative paradigm,
it's that the Peronistas increasingly created Action without Strategy.
And where there is evidence of Strategy - remove the assets of foreign companies - it is ill-founded and counter-productive.

CFK knows this, and this is her CRY FOR HELP.

She has run out of ideas, and this is as close as she will likely ever get to admitting it.

She may get some help but, having alienated most sectors of society - the 'public', public andministration, government and oppositions -

it is more probable that she will be allowed to drown in public and with worldwide publicity.

This way, an incoming new administration will be able to claim a New Start,
untainted by the Peronistas and their abuse of power.

Remains to be seen if the Incomings will be any better.

St.John....the trolls think everyone must have multiple ID's because all the trolls do.....lol. If they do it, everyone must do it. Of course, the anti-kirchner crowds do not have to worry about growth.

Remember if you are my chief or my servant yet both my brother,

that the most wretched chief and the most abused slave remain kin,

for when you attempt deals and colloquy with the foreign others,

the outsiders will lunge their fists to your chin, or flay your skin, even your mother's.

Serious question, why doesn't she ASK the economists she censored or.Argentine 'opposition' lawmakers to brainstorm some ideas?

#217 Leaders like her do not seek answers that contradict her ideals and concepts. She is an egoist. She is incapable of being seen as making errors......or seeking advice. Just as Hilter lost the war with the greatest generals and the strongest Army in military history because he executed them when they disagreed. If those Generals ran the war, I doubt Barbarosa would have materialized and and Germany would have been fighting a one front war.

professor Guzz! How's your sailing hours going? It seems to be taking you an awfully long time? I'd say more time spent at sea than talking your usual tripe in here would be beneficial to all parties!

I would like to ask in relation to a previous post of mine, 1) why didn't use spell check when calling yourself a “genius” ( bit like pissing into the wind which you should know about being a nautical man) 2) one a grade of 1 to 10 (ten being the highest) what grade of genius are you?

It really is sad to see a country that had and still has such promise. The kirchners have raped, pillaged and looted Argentina more than any industrialist every possibly could.
What is absoultely the saddest? That a country of over 40 million citizens can be ruled by such an evil individual who actually believes that of 40 million, no one is better than her to run Argentina. I am certain there are 39,999,999 more qulaified Argentines.
