More bad publicity for Argentina’s official Stats office, Indec: not only are the institution’s releases on inflation taken lightly or ignored by a majority of Argentines and openly questioned by the International Monetary Fund, now the head of the office was caught driving under the influence of alcohol. So the Head of department is as drunk as the figures they put out. Makes sense to me.

She said the real blood test result was 0.49% and would prove it once a sample was made available to her staff.

0.49% ? Convenient figures yet again!

Yes I bet she could prove it once a sample was given to her staff. Somebody in her office with the same blood type donating a small sample maybe?

What a pathetic News of the World style hatchet job. Didn't know the head of INDEC was a pretty lady though =)

    @ 4BK

    A NoTW hatchet job?

She got arrested for drink driving.

She didn't have her phone hacked, she didn't meet any fake sheiks, she wasn't put up to it for money...

Just how do you justify your post?

    @4 -BK

NoTW? I though you were British? If you were British you would know that the NOTW doesn't exist anymore.

Besides the NOTW only ever printed badly researched pieces and sex scandals, so your post is wrong on both counts.

She blames it all on the dollar clamp, if only she had a $50 to wrap round the Drivers Licence she handed to the traffic cop who stopped her, she would not have been nicked.

@5 He doesn't have to justify it. He's spouting propaganda. Propaganda can be translated as “any old convenient lie in the hope it gets someone of the hook”.

@4 wouldn't be so pretty if she'd killed someone driving whilst pissed would she?

Do they disqualify you from driving in Argentina? like they do here, first offence 12 month ban and a fine. Like the idea of them having to attend driver sobriety courses, should be compulsive here.

BK ....this is why I say the best of you ran away from your mom is because no matter what pour presidents administration does, you are a blind Argentine and refuse to believe any negative.

LEP he is undoubtedly an Argentine pretending to be a Scot. If you read other posts of his, he knows way too many fine details of things that someone just reading another countries news would just not get.

He may even be Fatsimo himself......why would ANYONE be so in love with Cuntina Kirchner........other than stupidity.....or blood.

Lots of humans in all countries get caught driving under the influence of alcohol, even government people. It is dangerous behaviour.

But is this really news? Does Mercopress want to convey important current information, or do they just want to get a rise out of their readers?

    Anyone have an opinion?

(INDEC being run by politicians is information of substance)

Well if they had not posted it I would have missed ChrisR' gem. So yes I suppose you could say they inject some articles to get a rise from the readers.

he only does it to wind you up, and folks still fall for it.... and wonder why he keeps doing it. :-0

    ”But is this really news?”

of course it is numpti! try spending a few years picking up the wreckage from drunk drivers and you might change your tune on how newsworthy it is that some politico gets away with without loosing her job.

she should've been sacked on the spot.

“More bad publicity for Argentina’s official Stats office”

They say that like there ever was any good headlines about Argentina’s official Stats office.....

From the sounds of it, the whole office is a bad joke with no punch line.

It is news in the USA because most people lose their license to drive for a period of time and face jail time. If the kill someone in an accident it's manslaughter. We like to know if bureaucrats are getting equal treatment.

    Poppy
Here in the UK they would be charged with causing death by dangerous driving, which carries a minimum of 10 years, believe it or not, in this country you can serve less for manslaughter! Always liked the way you yanks dealt with what you call DUI.

To follow on from reality check post #17

They wouldn't underline the picture with this if they were not having a laugh at her crass stupidity

''Ms Ana Maria Edwin: “this round is on me” ''

It does go to show that politicians the world over are sometimes able to make the same mistakes, and try to wriggle and squirm out of the situation in the same way. Doubtless she wont be the last sadly.

Please do not think because I found ChrisR's post funny, that I think drink driving is funny, because I do not.
I am a retired police officer with 35 years service in military and civil police, I do not think I need to go in to any further details except to say, I have had plenty of first hand experience of the consequences of drinking and driving and I do mean plenty.

Can anyone actually defend the fact that INDEC lie about all financial statistics, can someone say, 'yes I think it's good that INDEC lie because..........'

#21 I am not sure what the best way is. I like jailtime but if no one was injured, we have our jails overflowing with pot smokers already......I think 2 strikes and (assuming no injuries) permamently take their license.
We actually do road blocks to catch drinkers. Constitutionally we can't stop and such someone without cause, so the police setup “information” road blocks. Been through one.....they hand out a brochure about something or the other. It's pretty effective.

    @ 23 reality check

You seem to have misunderstood my post.

I merely reflected that mercopress were reporting this and having a tongue in cheek bash at her. Nothing else was implied apart from querying light heartedly about bushpilots post about it being non news.

Personally, I think she's a bloody idiot for driving drunk.

    Oh really?

This coming from the citizen of a country whose military chain of command is made up entirely of roués, gigolos, voluptuaries, and predators. And search google, the CIA dude and the other Nato military dude are just the tip of the iceberg. There are dozens of other scandals currently investigated all across the US military.

    http://www.airforcetimes.com/news/2012/11/ap-militaryexpands-lackland-sex-scandal-probe-111812/

Let us not forget either the still pending Secret Service major sexual scandal.

US military, secret service, and espionage services: one big adulterous family!!
