I'm not convinced Moyano is any more credible or laudable than CFK. Their goal should be to get rid of CFK and implement prudent government - not just make demands that will worsen the situation.

    Good point, Idle.
    It's actually a bit disappointing.

She really needs to go - she has no solutions...

I fear that it won't happen until there is violent protest.

Will the Peronists try to control and intimidate with gangs of 'Faithful' thugs ??

Privts-Hunter, this sounds tailor-made for a fanatic like you. C'mon, you 100% love CFK, you despise the People, wade in there !!

Oh, oh, I forgot - you have your excuses, you will be more effective typing or shoplifting for the cause - in Canada!!

CFK will be very disappointed in you - she needs every minion right now. :-(

that does not mean i dont wish the worst for argentina as a country while they have the govt they have and i believe its mutual with arg posters towards F.I and UK through past posts.

Might be interesting. It won't be old ladies marching in the street (8N) this time. Maybe CFK will notice the difference. I actually think she is more afraid of the unions than the rest of the population , ( whom she ignores.)

It will take more than a little blood spilt to lever CFK out of power.

Things could turn very nasty on the streets before she relinquishes her position. She certainly will not go willingly, unless there are just so many insurmountable problems that are about to topple her anyway, in which she'll invoke the 'Due to my health and love for my country, I intend to stand down' speech.

More worrying would be who would replace her. As Ozgood has said, wise governance is needed. Will Argentina get it when CFK finally leaves?

It's guaranteed she will go to Venezuala. With the money she has screwed out of Hugo for Argentine IMF debt, she must be one hell of a high class courtesan.

There seems to be a number of articles in the Buenos Aires Herald.

Transport and services affected by national strike
National strike affects transport into the City
    Banks closed amid strike
Union leaders say strike 'successful across the country'
Rosario grains int'l port closed due to strike

But there's one that's particularly funny:

CFK calls all workers 'to defend the Kirchnerite political project'

Why funny? She says “This is why I like to call all my fellow-workers to show some conscious and responsibility..............“

”Fellow-workers”. I'll bet that had them rolling in the streets!

Yuo are absolutely right, Idle, we are between a rock and a hard place as our North American friends would say.

If CFK takes it on the lam, we will inherit Amado Boudou, aka The Money Printer.

As far as corruption goes, I think that we're better off with CFK for the moment, it is far better for her to finish her mandate and let the electorate define our next “President”. Unfortunately it will probably be another peronist, Scioli or De la Sota, it would be far better if our electorate decided on Cobos who is very middle of the road, or Binner who is left wing, but not a fanatic!!!!!

On another note, I was at two demonstrations in downtown Vancouver this weekend.

A peaceful Pro-Islam gathering by the Art Gallery, the usual spot for such things. There was also a very small demonstration calling for an end to ”Israeli attacks on Palestine“ and I saw two printed signs demanding ”self-determination” for Palestine.
The Canadian Ministry for Multiculturalism set up a small tent next door, handing out brochures and pins.
    All nice and peaceful like.

Perhaps Argentina could use this as an example.

The 'people', workers and middle classes could ask for their own Self-determination.

Not sure if it would be a good idea for La Campora to hand out brochures though. ... (for you, Chris)

I invite all Argentine to gather in front of UK and Us embassy and light up a Von fire as the the men in benghqzy did last month, help CFK build a better Argentina and stop licking the boots of the english retards who can see an Argentine woman like CFK works harders and has more cojones then all men in Argentia combined, we love you CFK keep up the good work and don't listen to the lazy pot bangers., CFK is the best president Argentina had in 40 years and I invite everyone to dispute that by naming a better candidate for Argentina, but chances are as usual the english will insult me and no even one name will ever be mentioned that 's how I know CFK will stay in power for a lot longer then anyone can predict, pot banging will not build roads, pick up garbage or build a better Argentina, I know what pot banging does, it will bring Argentina back to 2001 situation or like Venezuela 2003, maybe this pot banging Argentine really do deserve someone like menem, galtiery or videla. www.gregpalast.com/the-globalizer-who-came-in-from-the-cold/

Yes, mysteriously disappeared, but those forces are very discerning.

Poppy, PH - ALEX is so lazy - everything come out of the “Boys Big Book of Campora”, but paid La Campora feel he is a liability and ask him not to post.

I think your IRA is safe. :-)

He seems very sensitive about racial slurs towards brown people and got very angry at “Sussie”. I don't blame him.

However, the funny thing is, we the critics of CFK , and “The Trolls”(paid trolls) all think that PH-ALEX and Sussie are alike. Both are ranting nutcases and treated as such.

    BTW,
Any update on the protests? Any idea if they are calling for CFK's head.
Have the 'real' (not ALEX) La Campora shown up ???

@43 Oh ho. Alex the asylum hunter speaks again. Let us take all his shit....sorry, words and commit them to memory. Strange that he doesn't mention which UK and US embassies. Those in Canada so that he can skulk around, perhaps? Yes, he has no cojones, he has no cojones today! But I will take up his challenge. A better president for argieland would be Francisco Franco. I know he's dead, but that makes him perfect. After all, he caused over half a million Spaniards to flee to South America with around 300,000 of them being in argieland.
@47 CFK is counter-productive. And what would argies (wrigglies) know about “work”? More holidays than anywhere else in the world.
@50 At what point in time did you learn anything about “honest people”? I only know of one honest Argentine. He calls himself “Simon68”. There may be others that come on here but are ashamed to mention their nationality. You, of course, are up there with CFK, Tinpotman, PutridJelly, ArguJello, VoodooBoodoo, Florence the Randy glove puppet, Alicia VON Kirchner, Herman the Merman, Julio the Lacking, Carlos the Tomato as totally DISHONEST. We know about their corrupt, thieving ways. How about yours?
@53 Oh look. Alex has got upset. Alex, of course, has forgotten, conveniently, that argieland is racist. It's in their constitution. Is that why he fled to a British-originated nation? Are they the only ones that would take him? Do they know he's there? Do we think he should be careful of using that word “earn”. Wonder if his “employer” knows about his internet use?
@55 Tell us, alex. Why do you wear your hair so long? Can I see mascara and eye-shadow on your pic? Have you tried washing? In a worst case, you could always roll in the snow.
@63 Really? Could you pop over to Toronto and put alex out of his misery?
@64 Watch for the idiot names and comments. That's her.
@69 Run out of ideas, have you? Re-posting? Tell you what, alex. Why don't you swallow your dick? You'd like that.

    Question for Simon68:

Protests and strikes are becoming more frequent:
September 13, then November 8, then November 27.

It seems likely to me (just from reading the news; never been to South America)
that CFK will last for at most a few more months before she is kicked out. What's your take?

Are there some clear favorites who may become the president if she is brought down?
You mentioned some names above; which ones have better chances?

Studies show that -authoritarianism -can take ppl from a more natural 'middle' of affection/sense expression and push them up up up the Kinsey scale.

IMHO, Noone has to worry about becoming 'faggy', as you said, if they start following their own heart & stop having their lives be driven by the boring lesser good of 'following or rebelling at' some authority.

In nature, (unlike confined, aka -authoritarian- labs) there's no animals with exclusive orientation towards it's own gender, but playfulness & love- universal.

So, CFKC has blasted the unions and the strike. ”“No one is going to pressure me, especially with threats, bullying or thugs. These are not the leaders that Perón and Evita wanted,”. Quite.

It is not ONE person pressuring her to change but millions.

And they are certainly NOT the leaders that Peron wanted. He liked his union leaders well indoctrinated and doing as they were told by him.

The reference to Evita is somewhat desperate, don't you think?

@107 Yes, I noticed the images multiplying as the unrest progresses. She knows that images of Evita will evoke a mawkish reaction from the masses. When she dyes her hair blonde and puts it in a bun we will know she has lost the plot completely.

What she fails to realise is that it is one thing to subsidise football, stand next to pictures of Evita and shout about the mythical Malvinas when people think their lives are improving. But people are genuinely worried about insecurity, their shrinking wages and loss of freedom. They tide has turned and they are not going to listen to her distractions.

The very best thing for Argentina would be that CFK finish her mandate in 2015, but would listen to what the great majority of the populace is asking her: To tackle inflation; to stop her personal vendetta against the independent press; to tackle the increasing insecurity; to speak out against the re-re-election; to stop trying to take over the federal judiciary.

As to who could be a presidential candidate, my personal choice would be Julio Cobos, but I seriously doubt that he would be elected. So the real favourites would probably be the peronists, Scioli (present governor of Buenos Aires Province) or De la Sota (present governor of Córdoba Province) or possibly, if the electorate prefer the left wing, Hermes Binner who for a left winger is probably the right choice as he is not a fanatic and certainly is an honest man!!!!

You may be right in the above comment about what the best thing would be, but it
won't happen as far as I can see. It's more practical to think about likely rather than
desired outcomes. I looked very briefly at some of the names you mentioned.
Cobos seems great, Binner less so. Binner's block voted to support expropriating 51% of
    YPF from Repsol:

    http://www.taringa.net/posts/noticias/14575618/Binner-apoyara-la-expropiacion-de-YPF.html

This is not sound economic thinking. I would have to look into his economic program
and more into his party's voting record (will be hampered by lack of english language sources, but might manage with google translate).
From a very brief glance it seems like the best chance for your country would be to elect UCR. Within UCR, is Cobos the obvious top choice?

Cobos is MY top choice, I would hope that all supporters of the UCR would have that same opinion, but unfortunately I think they will probably select Ricardo Alfonsín as their preffered candidate.

As you say my hopes that CFK remains in office for the whole of her mandate are quite possibly wishful thinking, but the alternative which is either impeaching her, which would not succede, or her resigning would mean putting up with Amado Boudou (investigated for influence peddling and other corrupt practices) as her replacement, IMHO this would be even worse than CFK!!!!

Cobos was an OK governor, not great, not bad. The problem is his somewhat conciliatory temperament works for Mendoza (where people are far more into compromise and fairness), but does not work in the world of uber-passionate Buenos Aires. To govern there, you need a very strong spine, and also a bit intransigent. He would be a weak president, bullied around by threats because Mendoza unions and businessmen are nowhere nearly as extreme or belligerent as those in the east.

Amado Boudou indeed is hardly attractive:

If CFK is forced out, wouldn't Boudou be kicked out as well? If you look at previous instances of a president forced out of the office before his term expired, was it always that the vice-president got the job?

Does Ricardo Alfonsin have any credentials (a record as a competent politician) other than being the son of Raul Alfonsin? CFK perfectly exemplifies how dangerous is to select a president based solely on family ties.
