By “people” you mean you. The new airline, LATAM is listed on the Chilean stock exchange (i.e. a Chilean business) and it fully owns the Brazilian unit of the airline. TAM share holders were bought out (i.e. a take over). In a merger there is a share swap as in the AF/KLM case with 2 holding companies.
I don't understand why you get so uptight about it. It is good news for all those Brazilians that used to work for TAM. Lan put 100s of millions in to the business to modernize it.

As they say:
the problem with the dutch ..
they give too little..
and take too much.
But besides them being overly frugal we like them down here, especailly those open-mind Dutch ladies who go crazy so far from home.
