0.50cal BMG fire on the waterline should cool the Spanish blood without actually spilling it.
The action of the Spanish Government clearly parallels that of Argentina over the Falklands and we should not make the mistake of responding to it too lightly.
One short, sharp, action would be all that is needed to see the Spanish off.
Spain biggest industry is Tourism. Spain receives more tourists from the UK than from any other country.

I have not met one person in my province that is remotely interested in Gibraltar and believes the government should be putting all it's effort into the sorting the economic mess - electing Rajoy was a mistake.

The last thing they need right now is a boycott by British holidaymakers, in some parts of southern Spain it’s the only thing keeping them alive.
Ultimately the EU courts and institutions will back the rights of the people of Gibraltar, no question. This is a no win for Spain, except as a short term distraction from domestic problems at home.
Might be an idea to consider trying to solve some of the domestic issues, instead of just trying to distract Spaniards from them.
Just a thought.

Is there any reason to think that latinos aren't scum? Similarities? They lie. Continuously. They refuse to submit to international law. They steal. Or try to.
Who's been to Gibraltar? It's a lovely place, isn't it? Spanish weather but British laws, customs, traditions, character. Wouldn't Spain be better if it was British? Real British. Not EU PC British.
So let's do what we need to do. Protect Gibraltar. Return Spain to its previous attitude of terror-stricken. Remove state instruments used to pressure Gibraltar. No more paramilitary Guardia Civil thugs. No more Spanish armed forces. No more tyrannical border controls.
And then move on to argieland. They have no courage as we understand courage. Break them. Break them to submission. Why are there more than 10 million argies? Let them learn the lessons of their history. Exterminate. Is there any argie (as opposed to sane, intelligent argentine) who deserves more?
If you detect a canker, you cut it out. argieland is a canker. So is spain.
Stick with evolution. Destroy the useless. And who is more useless than argies and spaniards?
I'm sure Spain will be trembling in its metaphoric boots.
Dec 07th, 2012 - 08:29 pm - Link - Report abuse 0The critical issue here, which the article completely fails to mention, is that the British Government recently lost a crucial appeal before the European Court of Justice (ECJ) relating to Britain's claim to Gibraltar’s territorial waters.
Britain was seeking to overturn an earlier judgement dismissing its legal challenge to the European Commission’s approval of a Spanish EU nature site in the disputed waters. The latest court decision follows the Gibraltar Government’s defeat before the ECJ last August in a separate case on the same issue.
By ruling on two separate occasions against the UK and Gibraltar, the ECJ has in effect ensured that Spain continues to have a listed nature site in Gibraltar waters.
Spain has never recognised claims to British sovereignty over the waters of Gibraltar and is unlikely to do so in the face of empty British posturing now. Mr Hague should have another Bex and a good lie down, the so called 'glory days' of the British Empire are long gone I'm afraid.

Comments of the Spanish are scared are really unbelievable, Spain has an army and navy and an airforce and ps we we can shot too.i reckon this will all go to the courts and the United Kingdom will lose in court because the ruling on the nature site has been passed in law by the European Union firstly and the Spain passed a law after that ruling , so in theory the United Kingdom should declare War on the European Union ?for having passed a ruling allowing Spain permission to have a site in it;s waters.ps the treaty of 1713 states that the fortress, town and port of Gibraltar are ceded.If the navy goes then the spanish navy will follow suit to defend itself.

I think a boycott of Spain and the Canary Islands from British tourists would be pretty devastating to the Spanish economy. You will soon see a change in the Spanish attitude when those planes stop landing full of Euro's.

Spain loves his British guests. Certainly there are hooligans and thugs, but as in Spanish families. The vast majority are families and retirees looking to enjoy the climate and quality of Spanish life. Hundreds of thousands of them live here already. In fact, the Gibraltarians could continue living in a Spanish Gibraltar enjoy all their rights (seek the legal term 'Fuero'). But of course, it's more fun to live in the 50s, and to think that Spain is a third world country which to mock.

i went to london to do some business i had my son of only 5 years of age and i got refused to use a toilet in a cafe bar .sorry what was said aboutr spain being a third world country we are alot more advanced in many things as like family values at least we eat in the dining room instead of eating big macs in our bedrooms

The fact you had to ask, suggests there were no customer toilets but only staff toilets in private staff area of the building. It is perfectly legal to refuse a customer the use of private staff toilets, especially if it means they get access to secure areas or the kitchen where customers are not permitted to be due to security, hygiene or health and safety reasons, which happen to be very strict legal requirements here in the UK. So chances are you were refused due to legal reasons regarding hygiene, as you simply can not just walk through a cafes kitchen without wearing appropriate clothing and head wear and without following health and safety hygiene requirements! if you think am wrong, then provide details of the cafe bar, its name, its location etc!

It takes more than equipment to make a fighting force as AG well knows after the 1982 fiasco (when the UK kicked your arses off the Falklands: STILL no Malvinas you prat). Spanish military have no experience of modern conflicts other than internal strife.
Spain will come to its senses soon enough and a little skirmish in Gib waters will see to that.

Lord Elgin paid the enormous sum of £39,000 to acquire the marbles, and was careful to obtain documents from the Turkish Government approving their removal from Greece, which had then been part of the Ottoman Empire for 350 years.
