I hear there's a new game in town, The Pacific Alliance. It isn't as inward looking as Mercisur, but has a clear outward looking focus towards Asia.
It may only have 35% of Latin America's economy but has 55% of its exports, surpassing Mercosur.
Look outward Paraguay, there's more to the world than dysfunctional Brazil and Argentina.
Brasil is not dysfunctional. We know the integration's way.

I know, I've lived there. The rural towns were really great. However, most people live in urban areas like Rio and São Paulo. These are not the sort of places where you are safe to walk the streets at night (or in the daytime in many parts), stop your car at a junction, or raise your children. Sadly, I don't believe it's getting any better with Dilma and Co. running the place.

Argentina officially moved out of the top 20 economies and they should no longer remain n the G20. But than, it does not matter to Argentina anyway, the world is their enemy.
I imagine Venezuela was being kind about Paraguay; “if you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all”...

@26 Bravo brasiliero. We too in Uruguay think we are all Uruguayans Doesnt matter what colour you are or whether you have a Russian, Turkisk or Scots surname. As for Brazil the cultural differneces still show up as they do here. You cant compare the beautiful city of Blumenau, mainly with its Germn civic pride with the favelas But Ill say one thing- Brazilians of all classes know how to enjoy themselves!

The atrocities of the junta are not something that is new found, yet only now, as these former rulers are so old they may spend a year or two in prison before they croak. The fact remains they lived out a good, long free life before “justice ” came for them. I am sure I am not the only skeptic to think think that there was some underhanded deal that allowed them to get old before prosecution. Even the kirchners had 13 years to go after them.

The left does not have any understanding of how social contracts works or how to make people productive and wealthy the only thing the left is good for is confiscating private property they also are good at conserving water they never take showers (I question their personal hygiene) because they are very busy protesting and demanding what they are owe to them!
Usually they held marches closing public roads and creating havoc breaking into businesses and steeling (Argentina) this is a method they used if they do not get enough subsidy from the state of course the state is going bankrupt as a result of their burden and corruption like in Argentina I think Uruguay is on his way the first stage is set, high inflation which they are (#3) in south America after Argentina and Venezuela (Excellent economics models ha-ha,) which is the result of printing money to subsidize the useless lefties.
