Venezuela gave another step in its integration process as full member of Mercosur underlining recent achievements with its partners Argentina, Brazil and Uruguay but completely ignored Paraguay, the fourth full member currently suspended from the block. Read full article

Mercosur sold its soul to gain Venezuela. Suspending one member because of a supposedly undemocratic action, to then use it as an excuse to admit Venezuela is hypocrisy at its finest.

If you are only to be ignored and put upon as a member of an organisation, it perhaps time to look elsewhere for acceptance. I hear there's a new game in town, The Pacific Alliance. It isn't as inward looking as Mercisur, but has a clear outward looking focus towards Asia.

It may only have 35% of Latin America's economy but has 55% of its exports, surpassing Mercosur.

Look outward Paraguay, there's more to the world than dysfunctional Brazil and Argentina.

Brazil is very nice, if you keep clear of the urbanised areas, or live in a gated community with armed guards outside your home twenty four hours a day. I know, I've lived there. The rural towns were really great. However, most people live in urban areas like Rio and São Paulo. These are not the sort of places where you are safe to walk the streets at night (or in the daytime in many parts), stop your car at a junction, or raise your children. Sadly, I don't believe it's getting any better with Dilma and Co. running the place.

Brazil is very nice if you like going to work in an armoured personnel carrier (APC) and then sitting behind your desk wearing several layers of tactical body protection in order to prevent a major organ being removed in a random act of gang-on-gang violence.

In that regard it's not unlike Mendozea.

Unlike south americans, I'm not poor. Therefore, I don't like living in favelas where you're either going to end up in a gang and shot, or a prostitute, depending on your gender.

Instead, I like to live in a house, secured by a political system that acts against corruption.

#4 The entire continent of SA GDP for 2012 is 4.975 billion. Brazil is 2.393 billion, Argentina .756 billion, Venezuela .397 equals 3.546. That's 71% in my math. Is 90% what they are feeding you in Brazil?
I think you will see when the numbers are finalized that Columbia will have over taken Argentina for the # 2 spot in SA largest GDP. Argentina officially moved out of the top 20 economies and they should no longer remain n the G20. But than, it does not matter to Argentina anyway, the world is their enemy.

As for futebol, well we have a few good players here too. Just to remind you Uruguay did win the World Cup at Maracana stadium aginst Brazil, though thats many years ago
Seriously, I think the main problem is the poor education system available to the kids which is to blame for the wide discrepancy between rich and poor in both our countries. The politicos talk and talk but nothing ever gets done

My lack of a response was obviously not plain enough so I will only lightly elaborate. Has it been almost 30 years since the junta ruled Argentina? The atrocities of the junta are not something that is new found, yet only now, as these former rulers are so old they may spend a year or two in prison before they croak. The fact remains they lived out a good, long free life before “justice ” came for them. I am sure I am not the only skeptic to think think that there was some underhanded deal that allowed them to get old before prosecution. Even the kirchners had 13 years to go after them.
Hopefully Argentine prosecutors will not take so long to come knocking for the kirchner corruption trials.

You imply you had a classical education. However, for the following reasons I surmise you had no education at all, or at best attended a mediocre middle school from which you dropped out or were expelled.
    1. You hate Spanish-speakers and dismisss us all as poor. Even you must realise that this is impossible. And even if it were true, shouldn't you be helping those less fortunate than yourself instead of making fun of them?
    2. Perhaps you're really an Argentine troll posting opinions designed to annoy non-Argentine Spanish speakers who are pro-Falklands. Unsuccessfully, because we see you for what you are: a bastard (but of course this isn't really your fault).

What a pity that you have not garnered the characteristics of Sulla to you, even though you use his name as a tag.

Making stupid, general comments as if they are facts, without substantiation puts you in with the Malvanitas and other morons that habitually do the same..

I challenge you to substantiate your claim that “they (SIC) there are more Uruguayans out of the country than in Uruguay” and provide links to that evidence.

And how dare you compare the Uruguayos to rats with you other dyslexic or illiterate comment “and when there is no more wealth they begging [do you mean begin?] to kill each ether [surely you are not referring to the organic compound which was used as an early aesthetic] they are like rats they take and reproduced” The final little phrase has me completely at a loss.

Please tell me which country you come from AND which country you presently reside in, so that I can determine for myself whether this nonsense has come about through poor education or just plain idiocy.

BTW. In case you do not know me, for I most certainly have never seen your tag before, I am a retired Brit living in Uruguay. I have been here for almost two years and know far more than you it would seem about the lovely people here.

I look forward to your answer: perhaps this time without the illiteracy.

.At # 64 I’m glad I call your attention I send a fishing hook and I get leftist, so I exaggerated a little about Uruguayans leaving abroad (people who produced and are contributors usually leave the country and this is true of all the Bolivarian countries and leftist in general.)
If your attention deficit disorder is not acute I never said Uruguayans are rats I was referring to the left in general in all the countries of the world (and when there is no more wealth they begging to kill each ether are like rats they take and reproduced.) They confiscate properties and wealth and the state becomes their parents.
My background is not important because what is said is a basic truth I know leftist cannot rationalize basic common sense.
PS: I do not get involved in personal attack my attacks are directed to an entire group of people for example leftist

May I suggest that you either learn English or you use another translator because the one you are using at the moment is providing gibberish.

Your qualification does not stack up with the actual text of your post. You ARE in fact attacking individuals in so far as your somewhat mangled text says.

If you are trying to insult me by saying I am a leftist then you are completely wrong, as any of the posters on here will tell you. In fact that is so amusing I just had to burst out laughing.

And why are you so afraid to state your nationality and where you live presently? Are you ashamed to admit to your own ethnicity and the possible need to escape your origins?

@66 if you ADD allows you, please Stick to the issues!
The left never understand they are illiterate (it seem you that like the use of that word). I suggest you use the word “educationally challenge” is more of a politically correct sentence lefties like politically correct words.
    Going back to the subject:
The left does not have any understanding of how social contracts works or how to make people productive and wealthy the only thing the left is good for is confiscating private property they also are good at conserving water they never take showers (I question their personal hygiene) because they are very busy protesting and demanding what they are owe to them!
Usually they held marches closing public roads and creating havoc breaking into businesses and steeling (Argentina) this is a method they used if they do not get enough subsidy from the state of course the state is going bankrupt as a result of their burden and corruption like in Argentina I think Uruguay is on his way the first stage is set, high inflation which they are (#3) in south America after Argentina and Venezuela (Excellent economics models ha-ha,) which is the result of printing money to subsidize the useless lefties.
Once again my race or ethnicity have no consequence in the world of free exchange of ideas the only reason you want to know my ethnicity is to get ammunition for personal attacks probably you have a preconceived prejudice of different groups of people that is one ability lefties have.
You are probably a racist like a said before if you ADD permits I do not attack individuals I attack entire groups of useless humans with useless philosophies. They only good for universities.
This will be my last comment on this matter I’m a very busy person I have to work to subsidize the left.
My advice #66 stick to the “SUBJECT “socialism vs. the free market”

I see now, that was why you did not understand who Sulla was! You do realise that your hero was born in 1794 and left school at the age of 11 to do manual work. He worked hard but could not be considered in any way to be educated, other than in understanding how to manage things to suit himself. Good luck if you want to try that in 2013.

You really have inferiority problems, I suggest that you reflect on your posts and try not to attempt too much in one sentence and do not mix the topics together.

I use words appropriate to the subject. Educationally challenged confuses people and can overlook dyslexia which is a REAL problem, not idleness or no schooling which most definitely leads to illiteracy.

BTW, as a retired technical director of a GEC company (if you even know what that was) I think I may have a better understanding of the free market and the forces that drive it than even you!

    Got you!

You have clearly not been following things on MP very long, otherwise you would know that I had moved to e very senior position in a similar sized business in 1986. This was well before Lord Weinstock (who I reported to) passed the management to the person who crashed the entire business by chasing the new digital future and overpaying for it.

I then started my own businesses in 1992 and I retired from them to Uruguay in March 2011. If you really think that “Technical director a fancy name for do nothing (of) non (SIC) value added (for the) employee(s)” then not only are you illiterate, you are an imbecile of the highest order.

You should be aware that a director in the UK is the same as a VP in America.

“You get smarter by being with smarter people”

As you clearly have no idea of industry and commercial reality I suggest that you leave the shithole and go somewhere else to get a proper education and then come back on here and post with the big boys and girls.

Now piss-off and play with the rest of your knob-heads mates and leave us all alone.
