So the Argentine Navy aren't involved, only the 'faithful' indoctrinated neo- nazi's!

I think the Argentine Navy are too embarrassed to be there.

    @3 OP

Too true, she refuses to accept responsibility for anything, but is willing to grasp desperately at any faux victory.

It'd be sad if it wasn't so ridiculously funny.

Well, once the Royal Yacht Libertad has tied to the wall for a long awaited refit into a musium ship old Christina will be catching her 'British' registered presidential jet just in case her own aircraft will get impounded like the ill fated Libertad. This is so comic, Hollywood could make a fantastic comedy movie with this kind of story.

Totally agree, make a cracking animated movie. IOU Libertad being towed all the way home by a big fat green dragon called Pete! and as it arrives Christina floats down under an umbrella carrying a carpet bag (full of medals) whilst the crew dance the horn pipe, dressed as chimney sweeps.

    I actually find it amusing.

The rest of the worlds foreign offices (or equivalent) advise their Naval vessels not to visit or be wary in certain places because of terrorist threats, or 'enemy' vessels.

In Argentina they advise their navy not to visit places because the bailiffs and debt collectors will be waiting for them. And they couldn't even get THAT right. LOL

#21 we Argentines love CFK she is the best president Argentina had in 40 years, if it was simple to find a none corrupt leader in Argentina I am sure you can name a few,lol prove yourself right and name a few Argentine leaders who you think can be better presidents for Argentina. But let me predict first that you can't even name one, we can't rust a royal corporations to run Islas malvinas, we have our own self determination to take care of and CFK is making sure our rights are being taken care of. It would be great if Argentina could tax import by 50% as the brits do in cayman island.

Let me help you out of your ignorance. My understanding is that when the Frigate Libertad approaches the Argentine mainland, it usually enters Uruguayan waters. By tradition, a Uruguayan frigate comes out to salute her and escort her to Argentine waters. The same happens whenthe Uruguayan Navy training ship Capitan Miranda enters Argentine waters.

i never get bored of saying that against argentine oriented misinformation, i fully understand you have to fight your corner with rhetoric and lies, in an attempt to convince those who know no better, the democratic transparent referendum in the falklands will go ahead and show the world exactly what they desire, and thats all that matters,“On record”, so any attack whichever form is an attack on democracy itself,
oh by the way the “un charter”, argentina is a signatory, and they should no better, the UK recognizes their rights, because we are Internationally lawful.

Falklands march 2013 , tune in it will be educational and slightly upsetting for hispanic genocidal colonists with expanist ambitions fuelled by their lack of human rights which narrows it down to argentina.

#42 self determination is good for UK only because the Mexicans in USA and the Romanians in UK get deported. Why not give british illegal aliens illegaly occupying Islas malvinas Argentina rights to return to UK or let them apply for Argentine citizenship as Canada does to natives, simple pari passu for everyone or for No One.

”Argentina has a navy flagship made of wood?
No, it is built of naval steel, imported from my country the USA, held together by steel rivets, the first of which was installed by President Juan Peron on the inauguration day of the Rio Santiago Shipyard in 1953. It is the only sailing ship of its kind built in Latin America. Peru will soon have its own locally built sailing ship for its Navy cadets to be named La Union. It is unfortunate that the US Navy does not have a sail training ship. We do have the historic USS Constitution which is anchored in Boston Harbor as a Museum. She is very old It is only occasionally sailed into the harbor for re-enactments of it’s kicking of Royal Navy Bootie in the War of 1812. It was a great victory for our young nation. The US Coast Guard has a training ship, the USCG Eagle, which is a German built WWII trophy. Her condition limits her to US coastal cities and occasionally the Caribbean.
I recall reading that in 1998, during the Menem Détente years (should have taken him up on his offer), she sailed to the UK. A RN cadet was invited to sail on her and was given command of the ship for 4 hours as she sailed and moored into harbor. The cadet’s eyes were filled with tears of emotion throughout his experience.
I had the chance to visit her numerous times while I was in Buenos Aires. It is a great ship and has a great permanent professional crew for her upkeep.

The newspaper, being 'free' from government interference, prints what they like. David Cameron DIDN'T pay for it, or commission it in any way.

Your beloved President has used Argentine taxpayers money to pay for this act of hubris, in the hopes of temporarily diverting attention away from the mess she made of the economy, and the fact that all Argentine assets are restricted to Argentina because they may get impounded by the people you owe lots of money to.

@30 I think I can help you in your search for a suitable leader. Better than CFK. There's a guy in Villa 31. I don't recall his name, but he's quite easy to find. He spends his days wandering round the streets shovelling up shit so that he can dry it out and use it as fuel. He would make an ideal leader. Fully “in touch” with the country, its population and its future!
@35 Sorry “mate” but according to the Secretary General of the United Nations, it does!
@45 What “right” do self-determination do you have? You are implanted. And probably illegal!
@49 Really? Only see and hear what you want to, of course.
@53 You really must try to get up to date. The Falkland Islanders HAVE self-determination. For themselves, their lives, their homes, their land, their territory and their nation. And no pip-squeak latino will EVER be able to do anything about it. You may be old enough to remember 1982, although I doubt it. So let me clarify. In 1982, a bunch of self-important latinos learned the result of upsetting a real nation. The latinos got their wrists slapped. That's all. Just a little slap. We like to give one chance. There won't be another!

I continue to answer from above.

    - Is it for training historical reenactments?
It is only one of its functions if needed. Its purpose is that of a training ship used to expose 4th year navy cadets from Argentina, and those of invited nations, to the challenges of the sea as experienced by the early navigators. It serves as a sort of initiation that cadets look forward to after 4 years of arduous work and study. Its other role is that of floating Ambassador. It is a piece of sovereign territory as any naval or war ship is for any nation. It is a floating Embassy and, if needed, is equipped to provide all of the services, ceremonies, and obligations as any Argentine Embassy. That is why Argentina has designated it as it’s flag ship. What better and more honorable role for a ship of this type exalting peace and friendship between the nations of the world. .
This is true of all sailing training ships in Navy inventories.
    Sea scouts or what?
No, not in the contents that you are putting it. When anchored, it is frequently visited by students at all levels, sea cadets and scouts, local and foreign dignitaries.
    - A large celebration is taking place because said museum piece escaped the bailiffs? ”
No, a celebration is taking place because the ship was liberated by the UN court under International Law signaling a defeat against of the plaintiff (NML capital) for an attempt to bypass International Law through its corrupt and criminal associates in Ghana. It is a victory for all seafaring nations.
A contrast to what would have happened to a British ship. The British leadership and population would have opted for an attack against an innocent people instead of seeking UN help.

Its always a revolution with you Peronistas/Kirchneristas. Always.

People cant just get on with their lives. The system is always meddling, interfering and stoking up the people. Everyone is kept anxious, the system is unstable and its just how the 'government' likes it. Argentines are either dependent on the government for survival or are punished for trying to take responsibility for looking after themselves.

If you didnt vote for the system and disagree with its policies you are treated with utter disdain, an enemy of the state and not simply and correctly as an Argentine with every moral and legal right to hold a different political point of view.

Its a shame that a country with it all (it must be in the global top 10% for most space and resources per head of population) still operates like a backward frontier town after many decades of a system that clearly hasnt worked in unifying, stabilising and developing the country.

I mean how much time does it need to stabilize and establish itself? Germany and Japan started from almost zero after the war and within 30 yrs had transformed themselves into the most wealthy, stable, egalitarian democratic countries in their regions and with far less opportunity than Argentina has. There are many other countries too that have managed to prosper in spite of lack of abundance of natural resources, and pressure of influential external forces. Argentina has no excuse.

Its sad and a huge waste for Argentina living with a failed, outdated early-mid 20c European derived mishmash of fascist and communist political systems. Instead of looking forward Argentina continues looking backwards. It really is in a mess right now and history will confirm this.

”Peronismo Militante” is a very small group of young Ultra- Peronists …..

Subsequently, the image was reproduced in all opposition papers to make the Turnips believe what they “Think” they believe….

What a brilliant poster, its really got the haters in a lather =) My only, small, critical comment on it would be that an artistic representation of Cristina can never be quite as beautiful as the real lady =) But there's nothing embarrasing or dictatorial about it, all it means is that some people in the country appreciate the stance and successes of their President; if only there was anything to appreciate about our own leaders in the UK!

#94 Well pointed out for the turnips Think =) But when you say the group is “ultra-Peronist”, they must also be (deducing from the poster!) Kirchnerists, so I would imagine left Peronists and would have little sympathy with right Peronist rivals of Cristina like Scioli? Or am I wrong, are they to the right of Cristina's support base? If they are a small group I suppose it doesn't matter much, its just I think the whole idea of “ultr-Peronism” you mentioned seems strange when Peronism is such a multifarious catch-all party, and Cristina's alignment with Chavez and the continental left surely now trumps party loyalty to some of the right wing elements?

Let me try to be more precise....:

”Peronismo Militante” is a very small group of young, left-wing, nationalist Ultra- Peronists …..

In contraposition to Europe, most of the “Nationalistic Groupings” in South-America are in fact Left-Wing Regionalist/ Integrationist Movements with clear social-justice profiles and next to none racist tendencies .....

Sounds a bit complicated, I know......
    But this is South-America :-)

As you say abit complicated Think but all South American countries claim to be democracies and as such adhere to the separation of powers between the executive, the legislature and the judiaciary branches of government. The elected legislature makes the laws, the executive executes them and the judicairy interpret them and decide if they are within the national Constitution or not.
Recently your President has often crititicised and tried to bully the judicaciary into doing what she wants.
I would cite for instance the Clarin case and the arbitrary decree evicting by Presidential Decree the SRA (Rural Society of Argentina) from thier legally held premises at Palermo on 30 days notice as well as cancelling the traditional judicial recess in January. I dont think the legal eagles are too happy to see thier constitutional powers being eroded. A sign of this is the reopening of the bribery case over the dredging issue of Matin Garcia channel in involving the binacional Comision Administradora de Rio de La Plata (CARP)which had been “archivado” by the judge. (In other words swept under the carpet)
The tias separation of powers goes back to Roman law andis the basis of any democracy. Interfere with that and you are well on the way to totalitarianism when free elections go by the board
Elections? Isnt that the way the inhabitants of Chubut, Mendoza and the Falkland Islands chosse the legislators who they wish to represent themselves?
