EU and Brazil agree on a “speedy conclusion” of the trade pact with Mercosur

Brazilian and European leaders called on Thursday for the speedy conclusion of a free trade and cooperation agreement between the European Union and Mercosur. The call for action was made as Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff hosted European Council President Herman Van Rompuy and European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso. Read full article

    Mercosur is now an energy and agriculture giant with a GDP of 3.3 trillion dollars (83% of South America's total) and 275 million people.

    So what? If all South American nations joined Mercosur, it would have 100% of South America's GDP. That doesn't mean we have more or less than we did before.

    In Chile we have the highest GDP per head in South America and we are not in Mercosur.

    @1 - Your comment makes little sense. The UK is a country and Mercosur is a trade and political agreement between 6 countries.

    Malvinero1 if you want to insult the British, mention how their moronic conservative government’s economic plan cause an economic retraction in the last quarter, and it looks like Britain is headed for Recession #3. The Pound just went down compared to the Euro and the Dollar. A few more years with this conservative government’s economic policies, not only will the Malvinas be begging to become Argentinean, but all the British will.

    but will Argentina (or its surrogates) scupper Brasil's prospects of joining the First World?
