Following EU horse-meat guidelines, Falklands removes potentially affected products
The European horse-meat scare has reached the Falkland Islands but the government has stated that local retailers have voluntarily removed potentially affected products from their shelves and “there is nothing to suggest a safety risk to consumers who may have eaten affected products”. Saw and article on Sky News, Findus a Swedish firm, sourced their meat from a supplier in France, who in turn went to an agent in Cyprus, who sourced it from a company Luxembourg, supplied by an abbatoir in Romania. Talk about traceability and accountability? Would not suprise me if half the stuff turns out to be road kill!

As far as I am concerned its the fault of which ever brand name is on the label. Findus, Birds Eye, Tesco, does not matter, it's their brand, their responsiblty. Do not buy it anymore if you can not trust what's on the label. Once they start losing money, they will sort it and bloody quick too!

I try to limit the amount of red-meat I consume. However, I do regularly eat british beef and I have to say, it's pretty good. Mainly environmental reason (plenty of rain and grass) and a good choice of breeding.

We have beef from USA, Argieland, Paraguay, Brazil and Australia in the supermarkets. There is good and bad from all these countries. A lot of Argie beef can be mediocre but if you buy branded beef like “Las Lilas” it is excellent.
Back on topic. What is all the fuss about horse meat. I love a bit of Charqui.

Toby, A good steak, with wine and sides in NYC is at least $700 pesos/person depending on the wine probably over $1000. I don't think you know anyone who could afford that. Every Rg I know that comes to the USA is flat broke and stays in Hostels. They're not spending 1/4 of their months; wages on 1 meal.

Just Horses for Courses as to what anyone fancies to eat!
Oh and Nostrodam - I will give it to you that yes Arg beef is usually very very good!

Average American making 39.000 take 33% in taxes leaves 26.000, gotta pay rent/mortgage since no american has their home paid off, lets say 1500 per month that leaves 8.000, gotta pay for healthcare probably 4000 a year, that leaves 4000 f0r utilities 2000 gone there leaving 2000 for food, clothes, etc... which means work TWO jobs.
Get extra 20.000 a year + 2000 left over from the other job, but gotta pay for the car since there is no public transport in the USA, lets say 500 with insurance that's 6000 a year leaves you 16.000. Probably not saving anything in a private retirement but if you do let's say 2000 a year leaves 14.000. Food for one probably takes 500 a month just simple stuff that's 6.000 leaves you 8.000, gotta buy clothes and repairs that's probably half of that leaves you 4.000.
After ALL that ... 4.000 LEISURE dollars for the average yank. And you tell me they will spend 700 for steak!?? hahahah... no wonder you are such an obese nation, you can't afford proper food, no money you barely scrape by a living... so all you can do is KFC and Burger King.

As you know Europe at the moment is not in a good shape so many countries will love to have you as tourist and in fact some will suck your foot toe for a good tip.

Dany, I think making the Rgs line up for a couple hours in the sun, on the sidewalk in front of our embassy to beg for a visa gives them enough of an impression that we don't want them here.

just one thing..........lassagna or spaghetti is sth very easy to make by yourselves, specially spaghetti takes 10 minutes and lassagna 20 minutes, why should someone buy it frozen?
