    Let me bet.

If this thread was about Argentina's economy it would be filled with the usual CFK bashers.

Brazil is sick, and even after a massive stimulus by the gov it did nothing to revive economic activity. There is no real prospect of recovery if they maintain the current economic status quo. Protectionist, statist and irrational economic policies will doom this gem of a country to flat line economically. Brazil holds so much promise, it has everything to make it a world power except decent management. The longer they wait to restructure their economy the bigger the pain will be from the recession that is bound to result from it. The precedent is there as it's happened before elsewhere, first you must break it before you fix it.

Let's start cut those ABSURD salaries of the Government officials.
Change the law that allows these people to give themselves an increase.
I propose a sliding scale throughout the country:

Brazilian government is enormous. Illiterate rates are the highest in South America. Two big monsters that don't help any country to grow.

Europe and the USA would concoct a war and kill thousands of women and children just to push up their growth rate to (for them) an envious 0.9%.

    Oh wait...

They need to educate and make the population work. There are too many dumb poor people for this large of country to have sustained growth.

I have a feeling Dilma has no idea how to run an economy. No idea at all.

They'll never be able to shed the 3rd world label without fixing the extreme poverty, laziness and uneducated population first.

As long as the Government officials are only there to enrich themselves, nothing will happen.
Take 80% of their salary away, and the undeserved job-for-life benefits, and they'll all voluntarily resign.
There are enough younger, motivated and educated people that can represent the population more adequately. And who would be happy with 20% of the absurd salaries the current cronies pocket.
