Venezuela's Hugo Chavez will be embalmed and put on display for eternity at a military museum after the state funeral and an extended period of lying in state, acting President Nicolas Maduro said on Thursday. Read full article
When will the official deification take place?
Can we expect miracles from people who have touched the glass coffin ?
Will pilgrims walk barefoot to the shrine ?
It all sounds a bit medieval.
Millions of people will want to respect him, so the funerals will last 2 weeks.
He deserves so many attention in Southamerica, its the most important and with high impact event on all the region.
He represents latin america unity and solidarity and defence of our region.
lol, actually most Uruguayans and all Chileans want nothin to do with the piece of sh*t. He only represents poor, underdeveloped, easily brainwashed fools/countries.
@6 The sort of thing the Egyptians used to do to their pharoahs. Slit the side of the corpse and drag out the guts. Shove a wire hook up the nose and scrape out the brain. It can all be good nutritious stuff if you have dogs. Otherwise, turn it into pigswill. Wonder what they'll pack the corpse with? Polystyrene? Bubblewrap? Plastic for the masses!
It is very intersting that the far right and the far left seem to be indistinguishable, there was Chubby Chávez claiming to be the first XXI century socialist whilst demonstrating the social sensibility of Hitler.
And these idiots like Stevie and Logic shout to the world We are all Chávez, well I suppose as they are all brain dead that could well be true!!!!!
Venezuela needs another tourism attraction and especially if pickled Chávez is in Caracas, worlds murder capital.
However, not mentioned is the very high maintenance cost of sustainable maintenance of an embalmed corpse suitable to remain on public display with no visible deterioration.
For Lenin, the Russians pay now about a million RUR per year (about 200,000 GBP) and there has been a LOT of discussion about just dumping Lenin into a cemetery. Stalin's corpse display was brief, from 1953 to 1961.
Funny to see discussion of burying Lenin in a popular, upscale men's fashion magazine like GQ Russia (http://goo.gl/0BzUs)
I thought he looked like he should be riding a motorbike up a ramp and through a loop of fire! One criticism, the jacket looks like it could do with red fringes on the sleeves.
Ayayay, you have been reported.
I respect how different cultures view death and if they want to preserve Chavez, fine. The Vatican, the phillipines, China, Russia have all done it. No one around here is going to dig up George Washington, thank God. Personally, I think its disgusting and something I would not want my children to view.
They better do it right all it takes is one single bacteria and then decomposition starts.. Embalming is supposed to be a temporary preserve until burial or cremation. Its kind of hot in Venezuela, at least in Egypt they used wrapping. And it costs ALOT OF MONEY to keep the body up. Good luck.
I was just saying that I wonder how they're going to preserve the body for.public viewing. If abberant tissue was removed, the fit in the pants is going to look different.

I think they mean he already was embalmed, two months ago, so that no one can tell he's been dead for months already.

That’s what they said about Stalin, millions piled by to watch him,
But over the years, decades , keeping one in top condition takes time and money,
Then sooner or later, a different world with a different leader, decides to slowly remove him,
People then forget him,

Just like every other Dictator..Stalin, Evita, Mao...simply awful.
Embalming and displaying a dead body is just creepy. He should be left to rest in peace.

Mar 08th, 2013 - 03:39 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Well, it's what he REALLY would have wanted!
Pity they couldn't keep him from dying: he so wanted to live - not for himself of course - for the good of the revolution!
We are all Chavez, except me and millions of people who have their own, functioning, brain.

Unlike Lenin's tomb in Red Square (http://goo.gl/0BzUs) at least the Ho Chi Minh mausoleum has a nice green space around it: http://goo.gl/0BzUs)
Apparently they have investigated the process CFK has used on her face and are using it on Chavez.

Good Grief, Maduro looks more like a golfer than a President of a country. I wonder where he buys his golf shirts as I like a bit of flamboyance.

Considering the electricity situation in Venezuela they better have plenty of backup generators for the fridge they keep him in.
