Indeed, even if “do as we say not as we do” is a uniquely Anglo-saxon invention which is the trade mark of UK/US culture in how they have dealt with the rest of the world throughout their history, one must admit, it is quite beneficial.

Excuse you fully Anglo with nothing of Tino,

    http://www.acting-man.com/?p=22348

I was just watching the German news on ZDF. If you understand German a little, go watch it, tuesday's Heute Journal.

So it seems the rich Russians somehow knew what was going to happen with the banks in Cyprus, and got all their money out via, among other places, LONDON. Some rumours say that some in London City and the EU in Brussels leaked the info for profit.

In the meantime in that same report, a poor woman lost half her LIFE savings. 30 years working to leave her children a store, and she lost 15 years of that....

That's the economic model you propose. And that's the system the British seem so keen on defending with teeth and nails.

Rich russian guys keep 100% of their milliions, poor Cypriot retireee loses half of her at best few thousands.

It is quite simply appalling and nauseating.

    @8 Oh Toby

You have spent so much time crafting this new persona and totally forgot that you have no ability to argue.

First off. Like you, I have never disclosed my ethnicity so are you sure I am fully anglo? Then again after being wrong so frequently about me, why stop now?

Secondly, interesting use of the words “seems” and “rumours”. Here's another interesting word 'proof'.

Should these “rumours” be actual then anyone who has broken the law should be punished to the full extent of the law. An interesting invention by the English - innocent before proven guilty. Cyprus made money off wealthy Russians and now the birds have come home to roost.

You find the situation in Cyprus “appalling and nauseating” and yet I find it is a product of their own choices.

The countries with economic troubles in Europe are definitely NOT an economic model I propose. Where do you get a dumbass, stupid, infantile, cockeyed, pathetic idea like that from?

Here's a 100% definitive answer to an economic model that I think is even more farked up than Cyprus or Spain or Greece or Italy.... ARGENTINA.

Your crash is coming mate. And plenty of little old abuelas are going to lose more than half their life savings because there is no EU to bail Cristina's arse out.

It's alright Tobias, I will troll for you my son!

Toby seems to forget, or maybe he wasn't old enough, but in 2001 all U$ left in the Argentine banking system were converted to Pesos. A little executive order and your wealth went to a 1/3 of what it was from one day to the next.
By bet is it will happen again very shortly.
Peso to 15-20/U$1 from one night to the next
Sugar goes from $16/kilo to $50 overnight but wages stay about the same
    That sounds fun

You mean to tell me that in 2001 “a poor woman lost half her LIFE savings. 30 years working to leave her children a store, and she lost 15 years of that....”

    By an Argentinean Presidential order?

    Why that's...... that's........“appalling and nauseating”.

    14. Actually 20 years of the 30 were lost so quite a bit worse than what Toby is trying to compare it to.

Except the same thing happened with teh last bout of hyperinflation

Think about having $1,000,000 Australs (which was only a roughly 10 y/o currency) then the next day you have $1000 pesos.

And the story is repeating itself again
but this time it will be worse
No USA or IMF help will be forthcoming to bail them out of this crash
    maybe they can ask Brazil
    hahaha

One of our family friends is in the farming business, and he's already being squeezed as it is. This will only end badly, seeing as I doubt the K's have anyone qualified to replace these farmers after they destroy their businesses.

@6 Don't you worry, laddie, you will soon have your dream. Isolation. Watching the cruise ships sailing by. Airlines losing their aircraft as they can't pay their landing fees or fuel bills. Exported cargos being confiscated. Should work out okay. Payment is usually required only when goods arrive in the destination country. The government officials and lawyers will be waiting. Plenty of precedents. I've seen Nigerian aircraft grounded at Heathrow for non-payment and cargo vessels seized at anchorages for defaults. Not even permitted to take on stores.

Right, Tobias, in 2001 I had saved up to buy a car, the first 0Km car in my life, overnight I could only buy 1/3 of a car!!!!!

Now I have managed to get back to where I was in 2001, and the money I have saved is loosing its value at the rate of 3 to 4 % per month!!!!!!

These are the economic models that are producing the Argentine Utopia!!!

What we need is for the government to hire an economist to solve our economic problems, a crime specialist to solve the street crime, a REAL diplomat to mend the broken bridges with the rest of the world so that we can get some investment in our industries and thus create jobs for the rapidly rising unemployed (450.000 in the building industry, 160.000 in the automative industry, 25.000 in the fishing industry, etc.)!!!!!!!!!

Little history lesson for Camporistas ..... In 1974 , the “ idealistic youths ” of the Montoneros ( ie the present government ) kidnapped the Born brothers , heads of Bunge Ltd , killing their chauffeur and bodyguard . The ransom paid to free them was U$S 70 Million ( they liked dollars then , unlike now ) Extrapolated to today's values that's about 700 Million green ones.
So you could argue that Cristina and her marxist coterie actually owe Bunge Ltd U$S 573 Million , excluding interest , plus compensation to the families of the 2 dead employees.

We can all imagine how this bunch of losers comes up with these wheezes.

CFK: anybody got any ideas how to extort; I mean get more money out of the bloated companies?

Echegaray (well known tax extorter for the government) why don't I get some of the lads working on a new scheme, same as the old scheme, claiming they owe us millions?

CFK: great, they will never now it’s another scam will they?

Whilst in Argentina the government is busying beating up the very businesses that bring precious USD in to the country, over on this side of the Andes we will be holding one of our frequent export fairs. At these events enterprises of all sizes can find expert help and financing to start, grow, expand export businesses. It doesn't take much brain power to see why this is a good idea.

It is a good thing they have a short working day and lots of holidays over there, just imagine how much damage they would do with a normal working day.

    Surely
If you tax the poor to much, you end up destroying what you set out to achieve,
Nationalising is one thing, but add to theft, corruption, and incompetence,
Will get you into bigger debts that what you started with,

Perhaps if she lowered or stopped tax for the poorest and added a bit more to her own rich,
    Things may improve,
    ………..
    After all,
If you tax everything that moves,
Then things tend to slowly come to a halt.

Condorito : As you have previously pointed out , Pinochet laid a solid democratic foundation for Chile to build on .
Argentine politics since the first Peron government of 1948 have made the country literally ungovernable .
In 20 years time when the Chinese have a firm grip on the place and establish re- education camps and proper law and order , Argentina will once find its place in the world .

    34. I'm not sure what the Chinese would do with Argentina, in a decade their farm land will be so poisoned by chemical pesticides it will be unusable and they are too lazy to use them for manufacturing.
    So what good are they?
It's the same reason the USA never bothered making them our serfs
Argentina doesn't have anything you can't get better and or cheaper somewhere else.

As I recall the biggest mob boss in USA was jailed and disposed of for not paying taxes this can be a great step forward for Argentina to use the tax system to prosecute criminals and gather capital. This is how is done in the english world, it can be just as good for Argentina if they manage to do as the english do and not as the english say. We all know how stupidity works.
