The invasion in 1982 was the juntas fault, it was nothing to do with the Argentinian people and was not supported by the Argentinian people.

”The game opens with a promotional video that says “in 1982, Argentines fought the English to claim back the sovereignty of the Malvinas”.

Today's Notebook winner for the biggest outright lie is Agent999 , who wasn't even born in 1982 .
In 6 days time , you will have your pathetic , gawdy little ceremonies with a lot of chest beating and swearing to die for the motherland and Cristina will make a 3 hour speech and you'll get your government sponsored barbeque and half bottle of red wine for attending .
The next day , you'll go back to your graft , corruption and cynicism .
The Falkland Islanders will wake up richer , safer and happier than you .

Can't buy propaganda like this. Really good news for the Falklands.

I wonder if it will occur to any of the Argentinians playing this that they are fighting amongst buildings where the peaceful civilian population would see them as the enemy. I hope the game inspires young Argentinians to visit the Falklands, where the local population and a lack of Spanish slogans might make them think about government brainwashing.

As a side note, has anyone else noticed the graphics on this thing look like what people in Europe and North America would have had a decade ago?

I don't play computer games because I have other more interesting things to do, however, the popularity of a game that basically involves shooting up a cemetery shows the level of moral vacuity that your average Argentine suffers from.

Do the war-dead get up in the middle of the game and try to suck your blood?

@14 There is probably an extra stage where after losing you can pretend you won and go around telling all the winners that you really won, and the war was caused by someone else. And an easter egg, where you can be a argentine soldier playing russian roulette with a bound-up farmer, just like in the real war.

Do the argentine players just walk around throwing land-mines everywhere?

I appreciate the element of the ridiculous in this, but I have to say I also found it very disturbing (there is a clip on the Telegraph). The scene showed fighting and Argentine soldiers around Stanley and I can't help feeling that if I found this shocking, it's hard to imagine how dreadful this must feel to anyone who was there in 1982.
The most disturbing thing about this is what it says about the delusional mental state that most Argentines must live in. This has appeared in the same week that Timmerman has rocked up at the UN expecting support for the idea that the Falklands and its people should be handed over to Argentina. They have got so used to treating islanders as non- people that they believe it, and any indignity they choose to inflict on us is OK.
ANyway, it's all fine by be. The more contempt you show for the people of the Falkland Islands, and this game is an example of that, the further away you get from what you want.

@13 I think it's good that the “Argentines” start in the Argentine Cemetary. They won't have to move except to step down into a grave. And how can it be a “tribute” to “fallen heroes”. The argies didn't have any “heroes”, fallen or otherwise. Too busy herding civilians into halls under guard, crapping in people's homes, painting red crosses on everything and siting artillery between people's homes.

A good diplomatic own goal for the Malvanistas. As this receives publicity in the UK more people will support the Islanders.
What initially was somewhat indifference to Argentina may well change to a dislike or even hatred of the country and harden people to the possibility of future conflict.

You exemplify why your country is the most detested in South America. You lost a war on your own doorstep against a country that is 12,000km away because of overall military incompetence, yet you firmly believe that in some way you won.

You received material help from Peru, France and Israel and logistical help from several other nations. If the Brits had received no logistical help they still would have won.

I have to wonder how much work goes into these things (speaking as someone who struggles with Epic Mickey, I am just not an expert here), I recall joking about a “mod” to Doom (where I was once again all thumbs) in the old days where “Daughters of the American Revolution” were trying to take back the public library from hippies with their last stand in the genealogy room and I suspect that it wasn't going to be a lab exercise for a Fortran class. One has to wonder what the designers could have been doing to better their own lives (let alone their neighborhood and country rather than wanting to vicariously stand on the islanders necks).

Gustbury , Condorito forgot to mention that you also got help from Libya , and had the war gone on long enough , the Soviet Union too. Agent999 wants us to believe the argentine people opposed the 1982 invasion , when a cursory search online will prove otherwise .
Fact is , most people cheered when the tanks took to the streets on the 26th March 1976 , for the same reason they will applaud the next coup . They are fed up with lawlessness , corruption and economic mismanagement . You marxist f*ckwits need to realize that you reap what you sow, and that when civil war spills onto the streets , it won't be fought in chat rooms , and that real bullets hurt .

This sums up how pathetic the entire Argie nation is. Some US Far Right groups have done the same thing where the objective is to kill as many black people as possible. This is no different and is to be expected give the collective mental illness prevelant in Argie land.

If they want to play a game about the Falklands war that is at least based on reality then.they could at least download the OFP mod Flashpoint in the Falklands but they would obviously have to play the part of a UK solider implementing a UNSC order to remove an Argie occupying force from the islands.

“In the Malvinas map, there are no English flags on show.”
If they are referring to the real Falkland Islands (the clue is in the signs and official documentation you F***wits), I don't remember seeing a single English flag from Stanley all the way to West Point (I accept I was too homebound to make it to the Jason Islands).

So in that sense the game is accurate. However being the Falkland Islands I do remember seeing Falkland Island flags (strange that innit?) and a lot of Union Jacks.

This is for you F***wit Malvanistas (real Argentinians know the truth), the Falkland Islands are British-not English. Most of the people resident in the Falkland Islands were born in the Falkland Islands which is roughly 8000 miles away from England.

“In the Malvinas map, there are no English flags on show due to the respect, glory and honour to the fallen,” the company's press release says.“

It's due to the fact you've got your heads jammed so firmly up your rectums you cannot see what is really there-see a psychiatrist.

”in 1982, Argentines fought the English to claim back the sovereignty of the Malvinas”.
1/- Argentina was formed in 1853, at a time when the British were on the Falklands, so Argentina cannot have held sovereignity in 1853= it cannot have been lost = it cannot be claimed back if RGs never had it.
2/-As Argentina only fought the English then perhaps the Welsh were ghosts and did not exist, the Scottish were ghosts that did not exist, the Nepalese are ghosts the Argentines certainly wish did not exist, the chinese personnnel weren't there, 'Rubber Duck'and co who helped out were Falkland Islanders and I am sure that these were not the only non-English nationalities that fought the Argentines. Was there not a New Zealand Sea Harrier pilot in the war? If so not English.

It is hardly suprising (except to Argentina) that if Argentines are unable to even get nationalities correct (even their own, pre-1853), no wonder every dodge they try, fails, badly.

Instead of fighting their own problems,

But if this is what keeps them of the streets then so be it,
But there is just one little note of reality to consider here,,

How many points do you get for refusing to meet with a Falkland Islander present at an Argie meeting?

It's amazing what lengths argentines will go to in order to support their beloved military Junta. They even create games about it.

When I saw the video I was ashamed. Brings the idea that war is like a game and make our image to the rest of the world even worse. I hope people in the islands to know that here in Arg there are a lot of people who don't identify at all with this. The idea of going back to 1982, and to keep on the obsession to occupy another territory that has nothing to do with us instead of focusing in our real problems. The less the media gives attention to this the better.

Despite i don't agree on this video game, due to what happened 31 years ago wasn't a game, it was something horrible which shouldn't have happened, i want to tell everybody that next tuesday, chanel 7 the public television is going to start to transmit a fiction called combatientes (combatants), it's about the war of 1982 and it's implicances.
I'm sure it's going to be as good as all the fictions from the public television. I just hope it's serious, and tells everything that happened in the islands during the 76 days of the conflict.

“British terrorists eliminated by Argentine Parrots”
Now that's a game I would like to see. Parrots are a damn site cleverer than the average Argie. and it would be a close run fight but we would have to bring out our secret weapon....peanuts and that would be their downfall.
However we would have to watch out for their cunning mimicry - they can imitate any accent unlike the Argies.
Remember when the Scots used the password “Jimmy” because the Argies could only say “Yimmy”
Anyway, I am in a frivolous mood today, the sun is shining, it is a balmy +7c, the Spring flowers are showing in my garden, WW3 may break out in N.Korea and the Argies think that the Falklands are the number one problem in “the whole world”

do not worry we will be keeping them, thanks for being the spokesperson for million of Argies. Another intelligent Argie troll, gotta luv em,eh!
Please do tell what you are doing on this forum if not debating. FALKLAND ISLANDS ARE A BRITISH OVERSEAS TERRITORY and will remain such until THEY DECIDE otherwise, no other country will tell the FALKLAND ISLANDERS what to do. Now run along now and sort your countries financial problems out, if possible.

Thanks for the heads-up, Axel, about the fictional TV programme on Tuesday.

I'm out of zone, so would appreciate your review of its balance.

I would be interested to know if you think it is beneficial to Argentina's future and its national psychology surrounding the history of the 1982 war, the junta, the people, and the young who have been born since that date.

    Geoff.

The argies are missing the main point here. The brits did them a huge favor by defeating their military. the argie government at the time was murderous. It had tortured and killed hundreds of its own citizens in silencing the opposition. Many of those who fought the brits were guilty of torture and murder. Anyone remember the 'flying nuns” ? They were thrown out of a helicoptor into the atlantic by military officers. After the war that government was replaced with a less murderous one and many officers who served in the Faulklands had to keep their heads down because they had tortured Argie citizens. Argentina should have an annual holiday to thank the Brits for defeating that government and helping them get a new one.

    GEOFFWARD.
I have always thought that it's necesary to debate about everything, especially in a country like argentina where we suffered such a terrible genocide, and many other horrible things happened.
There are many aspects that have always been hiden in reference to the soldiers who fought in the war, the lectures about those vents are always too partial, and i hope this fiction can be a source of good debates, and people can finally know what really happened The public television is very serious when it debates about history.

“ The public television is very serious when it debates about history.”

except when its making thing up about the Falklands... (like they do in argentine schools by presenting things as “facts” without actually including any evidence - as we have been told first-hand by argentines themselves)
