Britain's most senior military chiefs met with their US counterparts as a group, bringing them together as a Combined Chiefs of Staff Committee for the first time since 1948. This time, the Chiefs were not discussing current or prospective operations but instead met to discuss the strategic challenges the UK and US militaries may face in the future. Read full article

Apr 02nd, 2013 - 05:26 pm - Link - Report abuse 0The meeting went like this:
A Brit General stood up and said:
So, chaps, when shall we re-convene to discuss future combined operations?
And an American replied
About 30 seconds after Obama leaves the white house for good.
Tip-top, just what we were thinking too! said the Brit So where are the whores & free grog then?
@2 That's really funny and probably exactly what was really said.
Apr 02nd, 2013 - 05:33 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Did the US side say wait a minute, you're not israel!?
Apr 02nd, 2013 - 06:08 pm - Link - Report abuse 0I think we should be told.
It's all a bit of joke really, Obama has done huge damage to this relationship, there is no point pretending otherwise.
Apr 02nd, 2013 - 06:13 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Vive la relation particulière!!
Apr 02nd, 2013 - 06:34 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Incidentally, are these generals all mavericks who laugh in the face of the chain of command and just do what they furkin' well like similar to those american soldiers in the movies? How do they hold their armed forces together if everyone is doing what they just feel like and kicking doors down to shoot aliens?
lol shed-time, USA really shoved a big stick up your butt eh? Bout half your comments on these boards are about how butthurt the US made you.
Apr 02nd, 2013 - 06:54 pm - Link - Report abuse 0I reported this last week,
Apr 02nd, 2013 - 06:57 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Old news,
And yes Argentina was mentioned,
But hey,
According to CFK this meeting did not take place,
And was illegal,
So does not exist,
Until Obama goes.
Apparently they discussed everything,
INCLUDING joint carrier patrols,
And joint control,
This cannot ever be achieved unless [if it did] you would see American fleet, patrolling the Falklands
As part of the program,
And what a sight that would be,
But would it happen,
Well you will have to ask CFK and Obama.lolol.
@7 What exactly does maverick soldiers kicking down every door and shooting aliens have to do with me? I'm personally quite happy that aliens only land in the USA because it means we don't have to deal with them here. I also prefer armed services with a chain of command because their combined effort is greater than the sum of the individuals.
Apr 02nd, 2013 - 07:02 pm - Link - Report abuse 0I guess you're just upset because you americans don't have showers or soap and can't keep your underpant area clean. That's why you have to cut bits off.
Soap dodger.
2 Anbar . So right ! That is exactly what happened . So sad after fighting shoulder to shoulder so many times .
Apr 02nd, 2013 - 07:10 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Did the American Generals say 'Bonjour, monsieurs et madames, vous etes notre alliés les plus proches!, only to say oh wait, it's only those British”.
Apr 02nd, 2013 - 07:46 pm - Link - Report abuse 0I think we should be told.

Apr 02nd, 2013 - 08:30 pm - Link - Report abuse 0They did indeed. Joint carrier patrols would certainly be an interesting concept.

One U.S. service chief, Chief of Naval Operations Adm. Jon Greenert, even hinted that the British and Americans could share geographical presence requirements, with U.S. and British ships trading off in a rotation, but he cautioned that such an agreement would be “unprecedented” and require long-term, ironclad commitments.
Apr 02nd, 2013 - 08:40 pm - Link - Report abuse 0In Obama-speak that comes out as:
We'll borrow their carriers and lend 'em to the Latins - that'll frak 'em!
Sadly I doubt Barack could tell a massai from a kikuyu, which is where most of his personal problems appear to start (as far as his hatred of all thing British starts) .
Then again, he has Hillary as one of his top-crew, which is almost enough to make one feel sorry for him anyway.... pretty certain she's banned in the UK under the dangerous dogs act.
(Having now typed that I, obviously, will never be able to go to the USA on holiday)
Humour!
We like it dry: Americans like it obvious.

@15 don't you prefer it wet?

@17 Of course, they've got millions of unmarried males in the army and the one-child family policy has led to a gender difference of 100 women to every 117 men. That means they've got 100'000'000s of unmarried men just hanging about getting all anxious and fighty... with no chance of getting any poontang.

@18 I really don't understand what you are saying. I'll put it down to you being some kind of La Campora nutjob who actually believes KFC and her assertions about the UK distracting people from issues in the economy by keeping the military presence in the falklands the same as it has been since 1980's.
