Nothing divisive about the war with Argentina, they invaded she fought back. Think you will find many people debating her tenure, but her response to Falkands? Doubt it very much. Here's a tip, when the inevitable demos do take place, have a close look at the demonstrators, I will bet a months pension, most of them would not have been born when she left office.

Goodbye Maggie, you will be missed.

Baroness Thatcher is yet another iconic and inspiring figure in our history. Her strength, tenacity and iron will is the same character trait that the British people are known for and what that puts 'Great' in Great Britain.

    RIP Maggie.

I really hope there are no protests, or if there are, they are kept well away from the funeral procession.

Bound to be, there are a class of people in our society who do not need a reason, just an opportunity!

There will be demos and the participants will forget the demands for 35% wage rises, secondary picketing to close down power plants, the rubbish piled up on the streets, the unburied dead, and smokestack industries dying on their feet. It's a chance for 'the usual suspects', gangs of hot blooded peanut brained oiks to vent their frustrations on the rest of us. They can demo all they want, they were wrong then and wrong now .

They will be the same ones who forget the miner the was killed by his fellow miners for wanting to work.
They will be the same ones who forget that reason for all the police was to protect miners who wanted to work.
They will be the same ones who forget the number of mines that Wilson closed down.

Mikhail Gorbachev named Thatcher as the person who engineered the end the Cold War .
The Argentine Senate calls her a war criminal for resisting the aggression , and ultimately causing the downfall of , a military dictatorship they claim to despise .

Anyone who calls her a war criminal lacks even the most rudimentary understanding of law, morals and decency.

Great Britain defending the people from Argentine aggression and showed its bravery, tenacity and courage in the face of a very difficult situation and it did what it always does and won.

We have a lot to be proud of.

Well, “argie” comments elsewhere show that argieland really is “shit in a basket” without the basket.

I believe that it was Raul (elsewhere) who asserted that PM Thatcher was responsible for genocide.

She might have secretly wished this of (eg) her Backbenches,
but she never actually slaughtered anything larger than a wasp.

She was magnanimous in victory and at no time during the last 30 years did she reflect that she really SHOULD have demanded war reparations from the defeated agressors.

IMHO the greatest of her victories was bringing the USA and the USSR to the table to dismantle the Cold War extension of World War 2. ...

This released trillions of dollars and rubles that could have been directed to the good of the world.
That it didn't is testimony to the strength of the deeply entrenched world's military-industrial enterprises and the way they continue to corrupt and control governments. Hegemony and the making of weapons billionaires remains the way of the world.

Margaret Hilda Thatcher gave the world a chance to 'do it differently'.
That it did not take the opportunity when it opened up is a reflection of the weaknesses of human nature.

x2. Britain, unfortunately has less and less of that British character...there are more and more “ maggots” like those anarchist protesting in many cities in Britain and those cities that refused to lower the flag at half mast...unfortunately Britain is going back to the 1970s... a real shame.
