Change of policy? Obama hosts Chile and Peru presidents; Biden visits Brazil and Colombia
The White House announced that Peruvian President Ollanta Humala and Chile’s President Sebastian Piñera will travel to Washington in June and meet with President Barack Obama. The White House also said that Vice President Joe Biden’s next week will visit Brazil and Colombia with a stop in Trinidad and Tobago. Read full article

Taking in consideration their 2003 “Starting Point”, they have my more than conditional approval because:
They tackle many of the basic “wrongs” of our country.
They are restructuring our Military and Police forces.
They are restructuring our unreasonable taxation and economic distribution system.
They are correctly closing the most shameful period of our history.(1976- 1983)
They are actively integrating us with all the other South American countries.
And, to finish, even their worst enemies can’t pinpoint or prove any blatant corruption.
Their proverbial “Luck in Business” and “Personal Fortune Increase” are more than annoying to me but “they hold in court”.
If you happen to have other info about the matter, I would be more than happy to see it............”

Kirchner cites income from real estate and hotels the couple had purchased to explain the 2,600 percent return on the couple’s investment purse. Corruption watchers complain that her government has neutered government oversight, giving auditing posts to cronies compromised by conflicts of interest. The result: corruption cases take an average of 14 years to work through the system, according to the non-profit Center for the Study and Prevention of Economic Crimes, and only 15 in 750 cases have led to convictions.

All I said was that the Pacific alliance is moving ahead , because it concentrates on trade , while Mercosur slowly dies owing to its ideology . The best thing the new president of Paraguay did for the people of Paraguay thus far is to focus on trade. This alone will go a long way for jobs in Paraguay. I am starting to think the SA will be split into two groups, PA and the open trading countries and then Mercosur, the Bolivarian bloc countries. When you consider the future of Mercosur, one wonders why Dilma requested an official visit to the USA for trade talks and not under the group of Mercosur? That itself is a telltale sign of Mercosur's future. And the 2nd fiddle is going to play music to the Mercosur boys and the 1st fiddler plays to the Pacific Alliance group. One wonders if Mexico will ever request to move up the chain from Observer to associate member then full member? Doubtful.

But I think she is at a point with her economy that she sees that writing on the tele prompter that MErcosur is not going to do something to help brazil and that she needs to act independently of Mercosur before Brazil becomes another statistic. They need EU and the USA. As for China.........they are dependent on the EU and the USA. Even then, businesses are leaving China in drives, it's like China caught the Argentine Flu and there is no vaccination for it.
@5 You need to understand a few things. A “state” visit requires a few things. First, that the visitor is recognised as representing a “state”. Then, the visiting “state” has to be sufficiently important. In addition, it's probably important that the “visitor's” transport doesn't get impounded! And that the “visitor” has sufficient funds to fuel the transport so that they don't have to stay and go on welfare. Then the receiving nation has to believe that the “visitor” is worth going to all that trouble for. Mowing the lawns, for example. Distributing rubbish on the streets so that the “visitor” feels at home. Organising supportive rallies.

@23 It's important that you try to understand that, in MP, days do NOT go by until latinos get slapped around the chops. It happens quite quickly so that we can watch their little pointy heads snapping back and forth. We continually work to make their heads spin right round and unscrew. As for Paraguay, it seems to be a much maligned country. But it does appear to have one positive aspect. Unlike argieland, bolivia, ecuador, peru, venezuela, it isn't a repressed dictatorship. And, unlike Uruguay, it isn't ruled by a weak, pathetic, cowardly, senile nonentity.
