    What's Argentina's view on Tibet?

    May 11th, 2013 - 07:49 am - Link - Report abuse 0
  • reality check

It was usurped by the British Empire from the Chinese and a population of Gurkha mercenaries were implanted there. That is why they do not have the right to self determination, because they do not exist as defined by the numerous binding UN resolutions, a people. A view supported by the Ecuadorian head of the C24. Tibet is part of the Chinese motherland. Li Yuancho stated a petition of 100 Billion people was being collected to be presented at the UN to prove it.

    @13

Argentinas view on Tibet, Taiwan, Paracel, Shikoku, Spratley Islands are that they are part of Chinese Territory.

Unless they are talking to Japan, when Shikoku is clearly Japanese, or they are talking to Vietnam, when the Paracel Islands are Vietnamese, or the Philipines when the Spratleys are clearly Philipino.

Generally, in Argentina, Tibet is always Chinese as the Tibetans can offer them nothing, and Taiwan is part of China for the same reason.

However, this article is interesting. When are China going to “do anything” to support Argentina...or is like the Brazilian or Uruguaian support, where they say it and then act the opposite?

Will China be offering military support?
Will China be putting in place trade sanctions?
Will China be joining fat Toni outside the Lan offices?

Or will they be doing fuck all, and the islands remain with their rightful owners the islanders ad infinitum?

My guess is the latter...but I bet Argentina has been raped for the “vocal support” and the dollar reserves are down again as Mr Li flies home with a briefcase full!!

    LOL.

It seems rather obvious that China isn't supporting Argentina because they are upset that Argentina's murderers and rapists were sent home two centuries ago, but rather because they themselves are terrified of the principle of self-determination, given that they occupy or covet vast swathes of territory against the wishes of the inhabitants.

Whatever one's view on Tibet, the PRC have administered it continuously for over 60 years and despite UN resolutions they are not going to leave and will not face being ostracised internationally to any practical extent for being there.

In contrast, Argentina don't occupy the Falklands and have only ever administered the Islands for two 2-month periods in history, neither of which went well and on both occasions they were quickly removed. On the latter occasion a binding UN resolution told them to leave.

It's tricky to see where the comparison lies.

Argentina is like a dirty little whore. Willing to accept any perversion and give up on any normal morally accepted decent behaviour for a few pesos or some kind of open acknowledgement however shallow, that their seedy version of the world is right.

The trouble is that the sane world knows that they all collectively suffer from some nasty venereal disease and avoid them like the plague. They are therefore left to prostitute themselves to wacko jacko individuals or nations. The 'pesos' or 'words' received are therefore meaningless or worthless.

Might be worth China reading some history. In 1931, Japan invaded and established the puppet state of Manchukuo. A state that existed until the Western Allies defeated Japan. Now China wants to get into bed with the nazi clones. And this is a good idea.......how? So the nazi argies get into China. Then the old allies get together. Remind us. Who did we beat the shit out of? Germans, Italians, Japs, Hungarians, Romanians, Bulgarians, Croatians, Slovakians. Would it be reasonable to turn anything we don't find acceptable into ash? Mind you, we should approach things reasonably in terms of culpability. So, argieland first. Then Iran. North Korea. Genocidal arabs. Who needs them? And, finally, China and Russia. Make them abandon their unreasoning xenophobia. UN intervention.

Visited China recently for the first time since 1984. It hasn't changed much. Still a grim poluted place. A police state where people have no freedom to live where they like or as they like. They are building grim prison type tower blocks everywhere to bring the peasants into the towns so they can work in sweatshops for very low wages. The air stinks, the vistas are grim, police everywhere. Lovely place!

Great place for Rgs to copy. Great place for them to emulate. They are colonising Africa by stealth and SA's mineral resources are attractive to them.

They can't teach Britain and the Falkland Islands about freedom and democracy because they don't know diddley squat about what it actually is. KFC, Tinman and Putrid Jelly are welcome....

Erm... hate to point out the obvious but your quote is about an Argentine politician saying ”thanks for the support“... I still havent see a chinese politician actually expressing that support.

In addition the furthest they would go remains tacit support for the call for talks - unfortuantley many Argentines ahve been indoctrinated into believing that ”talks“ = surrender of sovereignty to Argentina.

Hate to be the bearer of bads news but ”talks” means that the UK and Argentina sit down around a table, are joined by FIG representatives and the Uk and FIG tell Argentine to frak off.

I am not sure why Argentina thinks that if they did have dialogue between themselves and the UK, even without Falkland Islanders being present, that this would be a one way route to Argentine sovereignty?

Surely Argentina's claims without the exact examination of historical documents which refute those claims, and not taking into account the provisions of the UN charter (as per 2065 et al since insist ), would collapse anyway.

China might refuse to exercise self determination, but this part of the UN charter cannot be airbrushed away whetehr China likes it or not.

It says something that even when Argentina and UK were having dialogue and the UK wanted rid of the Falklands, Argentina still did not get them, except when their pirates invaded, as the UK could not go against the UN charter it had signed up to.

Everyone supports dialogue on the issue, but as several posters have pointed out:
Argentina: We want the Falklands because you usurped them in 1833.
UK: Bollocks-we claimed them since 1690, and when we occupied Port Egmont in 1765 you weren't there(and neither were the Spanish). We exercised our previous claim in 1833.
Argentina :( Fingers stuck in ears) You threw off our civilian settlers in 1833.
(Dialogue on history with UK diplomats examining historical documents and Argentines producing cartoons and emotive outbursts as evidence for about 5 days).
UK: And in addition to that we are sticking to the UN charter which says the Islanders born on the Islands must have a say (according to international law)-so we have bought in some MLA's to discuss this with you.
Talks end. Argentina makes false claims for the next few 100 years.

Dream on Dany.... Obama may hate the British but even then he hasn't backed Argentina...he knows the US population wouldnt support it (even if he would love to)

Similarly China hasnt sided with Argentina, one of your politiicians, as they often do, has just altered HIS language to suggest they do...as far as they've ever gone is to support the UN which supports talks..and those talks do not confer ANY rights to Argentina.

Certainly NONE of those cancel out the FIs right to self-determination.

Its like the supposed “all Africa supports us” claim - its spurious and deliberately worded by the Argentina Government to appear more than it actually is.

@58 Off in la-la land again! Obama hasn't sided with the arse-lovers. Not that UK would care. China hasn't publicly stated any support. Perhaps they are concerned about British nuclear ICBMs. SA “says” it sides with argieland. But then there's Chile still enabling flights, Chile still co-operating with the Royal Navy, Chile still co-operating with FI. And the rest of SA? How many nukes? Strangely, our “no economy” is hundreds of times better than that of argieshitland. Loads of money, thanks. Don't need “jobs”. I'm retired. More carriers than argieshitland has. And they float! Loads of planes, thanks. Recognise the “new” argie navy? It doesn't “sail”. It turns over. Support? why would we need “support”? If I piss, argieshitland drowns. Spain? Shitlickers. China has not publicly stated support because they are fence sitting and walking a political tightrope. In one case....they need to usurp all the natural resources they can from Argentina, so they essentially and quietly say yeah....we support you, but never publicly making a statement. This would be the equivalent to waking after a night at the bar and waking with the fat ugly chick...........and bragging about it!!
On the other hand they still need the UK market to export to because there is not enough consumer purchasing power in Argentina to offset the loss if they were to get into a political riff with the UK. Trade with the UK is equally as important as usurping the natural resources in Argentina. Remember...China cannot feed nor fuel itself so they need weaker nations to suck off of. Here is a thought......will the misquito (china) stop sucking the arm (argentina) when it has enough, or will it explode from greed?

    “No economy,”

Well, it's better than yours will ever be.

    “No money”

More than Argentina can lay it's hands on.

    “ No jobs”

More than Argentina has (or will ever get under Queen Botox).

    “ No AAA.”

Ever heard of Rapier? The missile with 4 miles range that Argentina claims threatens SA?

    “ No Carriers,no planes”

UK has got a brilliant carrier-it's called MPA-and we only need a
handful of planes to keep your antique airforce at bay. Though you can inspect some well maintained Argentine military aircraft if you wish-they are housed in museums around the UK.

    “No Royal Navy.”

That's why you sh1t yourself anytime you think a British submarine is within 1000 miles of Argentina?

    “No Royal Mail.”
Well we do actually have communication within the UK

    “No support from USA.”

    Argentina definately hasn't.

    “No support from China.”

Our trade is more important to China than yours.

    “ No support from EU.”

Wait till the Spanish MEP gets an Alex Ferguson from the EU.

    “No hopes.”

We will have Skylon, whereas you can't even manufacture aircraft (apart from the out of date jet named after a babies diapers).

    “No influence in the world.”

Our influence doesn't come in the form of shouting our mouths off like Argentina with zero results (and having to retract all the time).

    “No respect from Spain.”

    Is that important?

Sorry to hear about your steak. Still the transaction was not a complete loss. The Uruguayan rancher from whom you bought your steak took your dollars and put them in the bank.

If you go from Chile to Argentina you will find that the quality of the meat improves immeasurably. But the livestock is the same in both countries. The difference is that the Argentinians know how to raise, slaughter and butcher their meat. The Chileans, bless their cotton socks, do not.

Chilean beef is regarded as the worst in southern America. However, it is orders of magnitude better than any that can be bought in England. You see the beef that you bought had been butchered in England. And England is a country that can take high quality raw materials and convert then into crap. It reminds me of what used to be said about Soviet manufacturing; the value of the manufactured product was worth less than the value of the raw materials.

Don't apologise. It was really cheap. My wife bought in error. I nearly gave it to the dog but I didn't want it to be sick. Good luck to the rancher.

In the UK we have some massive grocery store groups competing with each other. The bottom end; Tesco and Asda (a Walmart company I think) are constantly price cutting each other and therefore they try and source food from all over the world. Anywhere where it is cheap. South America is really cheap for them but they have to be able to sell the food when they bring it over and there lies the problem. Putrid. Nobody will touch. British, Irish and Scottish, real quality, is relatively expensive. You have clearly never tried it. A typical good sized steak would cost the equivalent of an average Argentine's weekly living allowance.

Mercopress has shown a pictures of a grocery stores in Argentina. There is nothing on the shelf. Do you not have anything to eat over there? Are you ll starving? It is good that we have stopped taking your meat. If you are starving, even putrid food will keep you alive although personally I would rather starve.

A little bit of sour grapes in your last sentence?

Britain was know as the shopkeeper to the world. Cost, quality, the lot. Log on to the London Stock Exchange website. See the list of British companies. A lot will be household names in SA. A lot have a history longer than Argentina has been a country. If your soviet comment was true they would not exist any longer. Don't you think?

Dany, mate, in 2008 the UN voted on an Argentine/Spanish motion to limit the right of self-determination in cases where a territorial dispute exists. The UK proposed a counter amendment restating the principle of self-determination.

The results were as follows :

    Voted with UK: 61
    Voted with Argentina: 40
    Abstained: 47
    Didn't turn up: 44

So Argentina got 40 votes out of a possible 192, or about 20%.

This is a bit different from “the whole world supports Argentina”, as we are so often told. Quite onbviously, most of the world couldn't care less about Argentina's claim, and of the remainder more support the right of self-determination than Argentina's denial of it.

Of those countries that did support Argentina, the breakdown is as I stated it in @78, i.e the majority are your fellow implanted populations of South America, with a sprinkling of nutters, dictatorships, and other would-be or actual usurpers of somebody else's territory. And as Chicureo points out in @79, you shouldn't be betting the farm on your fellow implanted populations, the more so since you are dumb and self-obsessed enough to keep pissing them off while simultaneously demanding their support.

Looks like another failed strategy to me.

Interesting the comments about the quality of beef in Chile.
On about any day you can find special offers on imported beef from Brazil, Argentina, Paraguay, the USA and Austrailia. (free market here you know) and of course Chile. Typically, the most expensive, cut for cut is Chile, with the Waygu being the highest. Argentian grass fed red Angus used to be the best, but now I personally think its the lomo vetado from New South Wales. As far as the asado its self can be found at the Mercado del Puerto in Montevedo.
By the way, the best cuisine in South America is in Lima, the best seafood is in Chile, the best wine typically is from both Chile and Argentina, the most attentive waiters in Argentina, the best overall BBQ dining experience is Brazil and Paraguay has the best beef value for price/quality.
Where the Campora fool gets the idea that Chilean beef is poor, and has never had an authentic Aberdeen Angus Steak is as ignorant as they come...
And yes, anything with ground meat in Europe is off my list, but that's been AA general rule her in all of South America since colonization...

During Alfonsin presidency most of the 300 meat exporter factories were destroyed by Alfonsin economy policies and Menen gave them the final shot.

    How do I know this?

From first hand, family members that have a company that supplied the 300 exporter factories in Argentina and the family company went also burst together with many of those factories.

Meat factories like Frigorifico Monte Grande SA, Yaguane SA, PENTA SA, La Morocha SA, FabricarneSA, Meatex sa, Finescor Sa, CEPA SA, Pontevedra SA, Ramallo sa, etc some with approved Hilton quotas went burst or under bankruptcy protection.

From those dark days “An Alfonsin’s relative and fellow friends wanted to acquire some of those factories for free and one engineer partner of them that acquired a factory called Yaguane SA. handled to get a Hilton quota (Are just partial cuts of the cow) to export from fellow govt. but the idiot didn’t know how the industry works and forgot to find clients for the rest of the cow.

Until the imminent collapse of the business he called fellow “correligionarios” friends better knows as “corrupt radicals politicians” and they provided him an Ad Hoc solution called “Mercados comunales” for neighbourhoods so he could avoid bankruptcy.

The factory went burst anyway and then come Julio Mera Figueroa and Samid (to the rescue).

But this is another story that if you want I can tell you about how Samid from poor become millionaire by renting, buying, creating debt and burst meat factories from the ‘80.

Lying is bad for the soul. You haven't been outside your own house, let alone outside your own village.

But never mind, when China brings it communist utopia to Argentina, you can live safe in the knowledge that your country will at least be run better than it currently is, and you will have a nice job, working all hours for a pittance. And feel free to complain about it. The Chinese really know how to deal with dissenters.

    Gosh, golly gee...
You seem to travel a lot. You mentioned in another article that you also travelled to Chile about every 6 weeks during the peaceful transition of presidential power in 1973. If I knew you had been visiting at the time, we could have invited you and your friend Hepatia to visit our national football stadium... What by chance was the purpose of your regular visits? Bringing in supplies of AK47s?
But, gosh that's off the current subject of meat and good meals...
...so you say that BA has better food than London? ...how very well traveled and observant you are...

“How often do you go to England? The reason I ask is because I go across about once every year. I have noticed that food in the se of the country has been improving over the last years. Its still quite bad but nowhere as near as foul as it used to be.

The distance to London and BA are about the same for me but going to BA I know that I can get a good meal when I arrive.”

    Ha ha, Toby, simply laughable!!!

Havanna and McDonald's are the extent of the world cuisine you have sampled.

    You really know nothing!!

BTW, in 1981, in Miraflores, just outside Lima, I had a fabulous steak of Argentinian Beef.
I wouldn't waste my money on the second rate stuff they produce today.

I can get an excellent steak from my neighbouring province, Alberta.
    Truly 'world class'!

Amado Boudou forgot to say that Mrs. K. supports China's 'scramble for Africa' even though there is little or no long-term benefit to Africa as exports to China comprise mostly primary commodities, such as oil and agricultural produce (just like Argentina's, eh?). China's no strings-attached aid policy and support for African dictators belies all Mrs. K's posturing on human rights and the welfare of the masses.

exports to China comprise mostly primary commodities such as oil and agricultural produce. They also assert that the no strings-attached aid policy pursued by the Chinese leads to a reduction in the pressure on governments to improve on issues such as human rights. Chinese support to dictators is seen as being counterproductive to the welfare of the masses and as benefitting Africa’s elite.

“Maybe but can you get a good meal in the UK? In London with great difficulty and outside not at all.”

Toby, you really do not know what you are talking about.

Did you READ something from some cynic, an article from 20 years ago??

YOU wouldn't know anything about food anywhere.
YOU have never left Mendoza. I'm sure you are just slavishly repeating what you think you should say.

Foreign cuisine for you is limited to cakes at Havanna's ( not really Cuban, you know - and Cubans could not afford it), and McDonald's, a real treat for you!

With the exception of Wimpy's in London, I've had no problem getting great food in the UK.
Pub food is often very good and satisfying. My favourite is the Shepherd &Dog pub in the South Downs of Sussex.
Not only does London have great pubs and traditional food, but some fantastic BBQ'd lamb Kebab stands.
Mayfair is home to wonderful restaurants - again, great lamb and traditional food, as well as high-end foreign restaurants - the Bombay Palace being one of my favourites.

Too bad you will never experience any of this - you'll be stuck with your local spicy sausages of mystery meat for some time now!

-he has never traveled to London once, let alone “once a year”.
    - He has no idea about food in Britain.

Toby has no credibility - total BS.

Back to discussion around the article,

Argentina has little to offer us. Their products are raw commodities - China will take those, leaving nothing and no related industry or expertise. They produce no “Value-Added” products!!

    Unlike Britain.

“Argentina has little to offer us”

Well Argentina has a surplus with UK in trade so your assertion about Argentina has little to offer to you seem to work in reverse.

As you have cited Mendoza in your earlier post, Petrochemical Cuyo SA has one plant located there that produces plastic resins like Polypropylene by using German Technology : )

    PP HOMO
    PP COPO
    PP Random
    And different blends etc.

Mendoza is an international heavy player in the wine industry and also have Oil productioon, mining of Uranium, Iron, magnesium, Silver, Lead, Zinc, Talc, Bentonite, etc.

Now what do you have to offer from little Sussex?

Debt and food that none want to eat?

Youve never been to Britain or you are simply trolling. If you believe what you say then you are relying on a 50 yr old stereotype. A county capital in Britain has more variety of food in the supermarket or dining than in the whole of BA. Ive been to BA and its remarkably uncosmopolitan for a city of its size.

Frankly, Dany, you are full of it.

Cheap ( not so much anymore ) second-rate wine? Chilean is far better.

    A plastics factory??

    A collection of raw commodities??

    Improperly-regulated food production??

All of those products are readily available elsewhere, from friends - without all the attitude and drama one gets from Argentina :-)

Even with your plummeting Peso, you cannot make your products more competitive because of the policies of “Kiss-off”, your economic genius.

Peso back to 10/1 USD any day now.

MERCOSUR is shattering. Only Argentina and Venezuela want to keep its limitations.

When you piss everyone else off, and you can't sell your commodities elsewhere, China will gladly relieve you of all your resources.

    CHINA IS LAUGHING AT YOU

CFK and Kiss-off are growing rich off dupes like you.

    Dany,
The food in Britain is far better than the bitter-tasting propaganda that La Campora feeds you.

Do you really believe all that they tell you, and all that you slavishly repeat??

Read what is really happening in Argentina.

Cosmopolitan people aren't, multiculturalists are, because they think multiculturalism absolves them of the need to know anything. In any event, there are more people in Britain studying the languages of Asia and Africa than there are in Argentina, which is a Third World country, and as such, ignores the other regions of the developing world.

The University of London has this http://www.soas.ac.uk - what does Argentina have?

This is the closest you'll ever get to seeing an Argentine speaking an Asian language - http://www.soas.ac.uk

The subject of the article is trade between China and Argentina, and what you have to offer them, on what terms.

Since @106, You have been doing your best to divert the discussion to UK food, UK debt, UK trade.

    Sorry, we're doing well, thankyou.

Don't forget, “little Sussex”is part of ”little UK.
Lots of money here. Next time I see Paul McCartney and his pals at the Shepherd and Dog, I'll ask them how they came by it.

Meanwhile, it's a safe beautiful place to live. Still fresh salmon in the streams, very idyllic.

And of course, they can always travel to the Continent to their Spanish, French, or Italian seasonal homes where it's warm and the locals are grateful for the extra Euros. :-)

Maybe we can interest you in some International investments? Money up front, please.

“I had a rib eye steak from Tesco once which actually came from Uruguay. One bite and it went in the bin. Fucking awful. SA is the real bottom end of the market but nobody now seems to sell their meat. We even get chicken from Thailand in prepared foods. More shit. I would touch none of it. I can't believe that we buy anything from Argentina now even Malbec is fucking putrid.”

Can you see? Who can I have a serious debate with you guys if you are always confused and still talks about Paul McCartney? Is he still alive?

Don’t worry we can see “El Diego” (hand of god) around town. Ha ha

“Maybe we can interest you in some International investments? Money up front, please.”
