Free Tibet-from communist china oppressive rule The United Nations General assembly is complicit by their keeping quiet while china rapes and ravages the place There has been over a hundred plus immolations by protesters in Tibet yet the world's media keep quiet because “they do not want to upset china” So they prefer to prostitute themselves before communists for a few pieces of Chinese silver-like Judas Iscariot

So much for Mercosur solidarity, Uruguay would rather deal with China for it's deep water port because it can't agree with big brother Arg on dredging operations

Also Arg would rather deal with China on it' s massive railway car purchase because it' competing with bigger cousin Brazil on selling out it's natural resources......... Some alliance ehh!!!

You're missing the point. “Pepe” hasn't got anything yet. Naturally, China will steer a careful course in order not to jeopardise its long term plans for the takeover of argieland and Brazil. Remember that the ultimate aim of communism was always to take over the world. Russia has renounced communism and replaced it with its own mafia. China hasn't renounced anything. My guess is that they've just made a slight change in their plans. Also remember that, even before communism, China has always taken the “long” view. It doesn't matter when they reach their objective as long as they get there in the end! There's also the possibility that, in order to reach Uruguay's current ports in the River Plate, they would have to dredge their way in. So let's wonder what “Pepe” is offering. Bear in mind that they haven't come to him, he's gone to them. It's traditional to take a gift when you make a visit in the hope of getting something.

6 .Conqueror . As always you hit the nail on the head . China has not given up Communism , far from it . It is slowly , but surely , spreading out around the world . First trade , then control .And they are so clever . In 1997 took over Hong Kong . They have kept to their part of deal , freedom of expression and so on , to convince the world they can be trusted . But once they get their way they will crush free speech in Hong Kong !

@ #6 & #7..... If you both replaced the word “China” with “US” and the word “communism” with “fascist capitalism”, then I could agree begin with you.

Again I implore you to see beyond the “left vs. right” that seemingly has you guys by the balls. China vs. the West is a sideshow to the main event, which is the “.001% against the rest of humanity”. As long as you hold the left/right mindset, you are seeing the world through a distorted lens. You will NEVER be in the .001% yet you defend them as if they actually care about you. You are cannon fodder for them, and mere “labor units”, and you are disposable, and most of us are just in their way to taking all of the chips on the table.

Open your eyes a bit guys!

    @10

hahahaha... your lives are so sad. No wonder your countries are dustbins of their former selves.

When I was writing in German, it was google.

When I was writing in Portuguese, it was google.

When I was writing in French, it was google.

When I was writing in very elevated English, it was the thesaurus.

    Now, it's google again.

Forget the fact that my German, French, Portuguese, English, and now Chinese are too proper in grammar and colloquialisms to be cheap google translations (which are notoriously bad, especially with language expressions), it's still google.

All because of the hatred, jaundice, and antipathy my truth telling ways engender in you all. You can't stand the truth, and much less the truth from an argie, and much less the truth from an argie who is way smarter, and much less the truth from an argie who is way smarter and knows your first and ONLY language better than you.

You people are so dumb I can't even feel sorry. Your monolingual dumbness is in fact a threat to the human race. Pray I don't succeed in running the planet in 20 years. But at the rate I'm going, at the very least I will be everyone's boss here.

Toby, In 20 years you'll still be living in a Mendoza slum probably without an internet connection or a computer that works on whatever the current technology is to communicate to the outside world.

No slums in Dorrego, you fool. Nice pretty middle class houses with little flower gardens or aloe vera, and red-brick or marble facades, a one-car garage, and AC/heating.

Brand new mall nearby just opened (I thought you all said I was lying):

Oooh Ahh a new mall. Sheesh you have a low low low bar at least there is a McDonalds there so you have somewhere to work. If it ever really opens.

Jose is aware of the inequalities of the trade bargains; but being aware of it does not stop it happening.
Jose is old but may be a better negotiator than the young business-people.
I wish him success in his primary objectives, and hope he does not have to sell too much of Uruguay to get them.

To quote someone else with a massive dilemma:

    ”To die to sleep,
To sleep, perchance to Dream; Aye, there's the rub,
For in that sleep of death, what dreams may come,”

OR NOT, that’s the real rub!

    A mall !!

    How impressive!

You are living in a frickin' UTOPIA !!!

OMG Toby, I am SO sorry !!!

The whole British (and American -USA) world has been sabotaging your success and conspiring to keep you oppressed, but Mendoza needs no foreigners and have proven their moral and inborn superiority with a Super Mall that makes the Anglos and the EU cringe with envy and self-loathing!!

    There, feel better?

    One car garage, only?
    AC/heating?
    Flower gardens?

Is that “upscale” where you come from?
Every little house in East LA can boast those things, as well as cheap RELIABLE electricity and well maintained infrastructure.

I wanted to have a look at your parents neighbourhood, but you are not advanced enough, or considered important enough by Google, for them to have invested in “Streetview” for that part of SA.

    Where. Is that new mall?

Is the Governor of Mendoza coming for the Opening Ceremonies??

Mujica may, or may not, know much about Chinese history but I hope he knows his American history.

The irony is that it was the American trade that ultimately brought down the Ming Dynasty and simultaneously improverished Spain. It seems that the leaders of the PRC understand the problem as evidenced by complaints about exchange rate “fixing” of the RMB since the Clinton administration. And, from this article, it seems that the leaders of Argentina and Brazil are also aware of the problem.
