“who ‘hike prices taking advantage of the strong demand triggered by the inclusive Kirchnerite model’”

Doesn't that “strong demand” have anything to do with printing a lot of extra cash? Is that what the “Kirchnerite Model” is?

Is this method of price control going to backfire long before October, or just after the elections?

Moreno decides what things ought to cost now, the guy with the gun. That is just beautiful!!!

Maybe CFK's party is going to get hammered in October no matter what they try to do now.

Yes I can't wait to see those supermarkets competing for business and wanting to sell twice as much stuff at a loss.

It will be interesting how business tackle this. Do they just sell all these products at a loss and then wait for the shipped to inevitably buy other non-price-mandated products?

Or do they just not bother stocking these items, lay off staff, reduce their income but run a profit and hence remain in business?

Anyone who supports this has no economic knowledge whatsoever.

No, what this means is that this silly cow continues to cook the books and the Argentine people ARE stupid enough to buy it.

God , these people are really , really , stupid . As toxic says , the 500 products will simply disappear off the shelves and be exported to neighbouring countries .
The trouble with Peronists , and particularly Marxist Peronists , is that they simply have not got a clue about simple economics .

I read an interesting article about Guillermo Moreno yesterday. He is charged with the task of getting $4billion back into the country before the October elections. He has been out threatening businessmen to launder their dollars back into the system 'or else bad things will happen'. To sweeten the deal they are being offered lucrative government contracts. Lovely.

I was HORRIFIED to read Think's shopping list.

According to INDEC and supported by people like Think, you cease to be indigent in Argentina if you can be fed on 6 Pesos per day.

As a teenager and even as an adult I drink about 1 litre of milk a day. There's going to be a generation of stunted and malnourished Argentineans if Think's prices can be believed.

@18 Yes, the article said Moreno has a list and he is working through it. Though it does look as though he will get $2b at best, even with the threats. What was even more interesting is the in-fighting going on. Apparently CFK is very displeased with Moreno at the moment and the rest of the Ministers are all blaming each other for the crisis. That they realise they are in crisis is a huge breakthrough.

    23. Yes, admitting there is a problem is a 1st step.

They'll be in a circular firing squad soon enough

Their problem is they are run by Marxists thugs and will do exactly the opposite of what they need to do to actually fix the problems.

My bet is they will default, inflate the currency base dramatically (even more than the 40% /yr they're doing now), devalue 16-20/1 after elections

They will be in hyperinflation soon enough, it's not if but when

Just wait to see how long BA is blacked out with every cold snap.

My guess is the large Int'l mfgs will start packing up soon too.

The only road they have is from bad to worse

i just love this comment: “”“The “watch to protect’ program is in response to the growing disappointment in Argentina with inflation, a fact that the government of President Cristina Fernandez refuses to accept and blames business and entrepreneurs who ‘hike prices taking advantage of the strong demand triggered by the inclusive Kirchnerite model’”“”“

    ”The inclusive Kirchnerite model“

no what does that really mean? You're all included in the shit, but the Kirchners aren't?

”The Kirchners will pretend to be included in the shit they've caused?“

    its hilarious...

but then so is a government that asks its citizens to grass-up on any business that tries to sell their goods at a price they want to - that degree of state control is shocking.. the establishment of pro-government ”groups“ to snitch on businesses is even worse...

I can confirm Thinks list is fairly accurate. I too shop in “La Anonima”. Rice and Sugar at ARS$3 seems to be quite a bit less than I can remember paying but everything else seems close. My experience compared to my home country is that raw and unprocessed foods are relatively cheap, however anything thats processed such as cheeses, cereals are relatively more expensive. Where things get expensive (at least at the official exchange rate) in Argentina is for manufactured consumer products. Think clothes, cars, electronics. At the blue rate however, these things become very cheap. Its a pity only foreigners like me or rich people are the only ones who can take advantage of the cheaper prices allowed by the blue rate. All the poorer people pay the more expensive prices, have no means to save, and are becoming ever more dependant on the state. Some think this is a good thing though.

@24 Don't you worry about it, Twinky. Porridge is for the purpose of growing hair on your balls. Hardly necessary in your case! Slice of child buttock is closer to the mark.
@26 Of course you're doomed. You're stupid faggots. The world hates you.

Marxists do understand it, they just try to make people produce stuff at a loss by force, because profit is exploitation according to their ideology. Price controls are merely a compromise to improve the Marxist's image.

In February, when price controls first came in, Moreno said that the big Supermarket chains had around 10.000 articles on their shelves, and now he is saying that he is “fixing” the prices of 500 of them, but leaving 9.500 of them free of price controls!!!!!

In the case of the famous 500 articles, they are identified by trade mark, not by type of article, so that trade mark will disappear from the shelves to be replaced by another trade mark!!!!!!!

These bolshevicks are stupider that a botload of monkeys (with appologies to the monkeys)!!!!!!!!!

So basically 5% of inventory are loss leaders, limited to two a family. And by the end of the year, the discout on tnhose items will reach 40%, per the increase money supply.
Great Great sleight of hand-watch the 500 prices here, not the 9500 pricees over there!

This will mean nothing to to the coward trolls that ran away from Argentina, but it will to real Argentine's as this is their future:

“I am prepared to talk all the risks with this to defeat the scourge of food contraband,”

    http://news.yahoo.com/rationing-begin-venezuelan-state-172641854.html

It is not rationing, it is addressing contraband food, like the contraband toilet paper.

Great announcement and lovely picture =)

#63 “Notice the war criminal Eva Peron in the background”

That must be one of the silliest comments on this forum, feel free to disagree with/dislike Evita, but how can she be a “war criminal” when she was never at war?!

How about this then for argie double standards?

Eva WAS a prostitute who became the 'First Lady' of The Dark Country.

The mother of one of my Uruguayo friends was in BsAs with her husband on business and she was sitting in a restaurant waiting to order. The day had been very hot and the restaurant was very warm, even for her as she sat in her lovely new summer dress.

The manager approached and asked her to dress properly, indicating at her 'bare' shoulders. He said 'The Lady has given out instructions that all female diners should have the shoulders covered, at least by a fine shawl'. When asked who 'The Lady' was, she was told in all seriousness, 'The First Lady' of course.

They did the only sensible thing and left the place.

THAT is your Eva Peron for you.

    Ha, ha, ha.

BK.....let's tretend for a moment your are Scottish. Tell me, is it a crime to aid and a abet a criminal fugative in the UK? Simple question BK?

Your pussy ass hero's, the Peron finally sided and joined that allies weeks before hitler killed himself. Fucking cowards .....to get a piece of the pie. Seems the fickle finger of fate pointed it's finger at Argentina, took Eva's life and plagued Argentina for choosing poorly.
