What a cheek... You would have to be a lunatic to invest in anything in Argentina. KFC and Gollum would steal it in a trice. By their actions over the FI and Repsol they have shot themselves in both feet. If they are self sufficient why come to Europe and especially London?

Apart from what has already been commented, this makes no sense because Argentina has threatened to take legal action against oil companies who participate in the Falklands exploration which, by their own claims is part of Argentina. So, by their own statement, the Argentine Government will take legal action against any oil company who operates in Argentine territory.
At best, this is bizarre behaviour- At worst it is both barking and suicidal.

“non-conventional oil” - Please, please tell me that they aren't stupid enough to try to sell Kerogen (shale oil) to the UK (where there has been commercial levels of extraction since 1859).

    First item on programme agenda-

“Argentina Oil & Gas Sector Situation + Unconventional Development Scenarios”

Is that a convoluted way of saying “ You invest + we expropriate.”

“highlighted Argentina’s century long experience in the hydrocarbons industry.” Yep, argieland has unparalleled experience in not being able to get the stuff out of the ground themselves. This is matched with their experience in getting other people to do the work. In an exceptional twist, they manage to get the people who do the work for them to “invest” much of their profits in argieland. Moving along to their other “capabilities”, their ability to refine the product is second. That's not a mistake. If you had an important asset like an oil refinery, wouldn't you protect it against such “problems” as fire and flooding? Incredible numbers of alarms, automatic fire-fighting systems and an on-site fire-fighting unit. Automatic seals. Then there's the taxes. And the argie government's propensity for seizing assets and entire companies. Truly awe-inspiring.

It's not like businessmen can't see that the current gov't is losing control and the economy is spinning out of control.

All they have to do is wait a little bit for the inevitable collapse and make a deal with the new gov't. The o/g isn't going anywhere.

So Kristina Chaves is promoting co-investment whilst busy trying to snaffle the lot for her failing economy and misguided national pride. That's a first in soliciting invested confidence!

The only thing I would add to the above comments is should any member of 'John Q Public' have any shares in any company doing business with RGland I would suggest, very strongly that they get them out, unless of course they can really afford to lose them and are really in it for the 'possible high return'.

Hector Timerman is still promoting oil and gas opportunities:
'Argentina will take legal action at home and abroad against any companies involved in oil exploration off the Malvinas Islands. - 15th March 2012.
(He's not doing very well, is he?)

Or we could go back further to the 'Falkland Islands Declaration and Bilateral Agreements between Argentina and Britain, made between 1986 and 1991 which covered Flights, fisheries and oil and gas exploration which were all broken by Argentina.

Little wonder why Argentina is rated down in 102nd place by the World's Corruption Perception Index.

I follow O/G quite a bit and for many years and I can't think of one time when a country has had to go out on roadshows to promote exploration and beg for investment. Small o/g compaies yes..but a country? Nope.

How long have they done this? 2 Yrs and they haven't found anyone?
What has changed in the last 2 yrs?
    Nada
Argentina has not really had any exploration since the 90s.
    Everyone knows this
Yet no one puts up the cash

    Gee I wonder why

It never really dawned on me until today
    It is really quite pathetic

TMBOA is clearly demented and probably sees this little farce as a way of enticing the Northern Europeans into her net.

    NOT FORGETTING:
“In his dissertation, Carlos Alfaro stressed the stability of the fiscal schemes in the Argentine provinces regarding royalties, the 130/2013 resolution to create a Hydrocarbons Fund, and the relaxation of natural gas prices, as important decisions and elements in the state which promote the oil private sector.”

As someone who attended the other day, this was not a serious pitch for work. First of all, it was in the law society, not the kind of place you would use as a venue if you were trying to entice investment. Normally you would see this kind of road show in one of the Livery Companies or over in the Wharf, not the Law Society.

”Argentina Oil & Gas Sector Situation + Unconventional Development Scenarios” This also got quite a few laughs come coffee time; people could see the obvious connotations. Personally I had a feeling that this was more of a presentation paying lip service to the possibility of investment rather than a proper pitch. Why? Well, the majority of the big names with the balance sheets to investment were conspicuous by their absence...
