If ever the saying, “The lunatics are running the asylum” applied, this is surely it.

There was me, thinking they could not out do the, Venezualans are eating more meals a day, explanation for the toilet paper shortage.

If it was not so pathetic, I would laugh.

Agreed, they are running out of baby milk formula. But how well will breast milk be of undernourished mother's anyway? I mean the President of Venezuela seems shocked that Venezuelan people want to eat 3 times a day, and probably wants to reduce their meals to one per day.

However, surely it is up to women as to whether they wish to breast feed or not? Certainly in the 1st few weeks it is beneficial to the child as the mother passes on immunity factors, however, after this 1st few weeks, changing to formula should be an option, especially for mothers who have to work for a living.

Some babies do not take to the breast, so these unlucky ones will probably starve to death?

    One seriously nut ball country.

@6 “However, surely it is up to women as to whether they wish to breast feed or not?”

Apparently it is the 1950's in Venezuela.

Anything to cut back on imports it seems, although the original stuff is superior to the artificial there are better way to encourage breastfeeding.

This was in the DT last week and the TIT sponsoring it stated that ONLY medical department doctors (whatever they are) would be allowed to give permission to bottle feed on STRICTLY medical grounds.

Not only baby formula are they running out of there is a severe scarcity of common snese and they deserve to be ridiculed throughout the world over this.

Shades of the little bird mentality again.

So, if you pay the appropriate bribe you can be excused. What are they going to do? Spy on women? Make formula only available on prescription?

There are many reasons why a woman cannot or chooses not to breast feed. Ultimately it is her body and her choice.

Why would Maduro upset 50% of the population on a lie? He would he been far more respected to say they don't have the formula and ASK woman to consider it in order to make the limited supplies go further.

Why didn't he try to control men's bodies? You can't have sex anymore because you might produce a baby and we don't have enough formula to feed your offspring. Actually, he should try that. He would be out of office by the end of the week.

Just a non topic observation. Is it me or has anyone else notice that the trolls posts are becoming nearly non existent? It must be getting more and more difficult to blindly support them.

@12 I noticed TTT disappeared pretty soon after agreeing with me that CFK's government is both corrupt and paranoid. Though to be fair he never supported The Falklands becoming Argentine and I suspected he didn't support the government other than in a nationalistic 'I must defend everything Argentine' kinda way.

The others have taken quite a drubbing recently.

Whilst off-topic, I had to laugh at the news that Assange is prepared to stay in the Ecuadorian Embassy for five years. LOL. They should quietly move to new premises in the night and leave him in the old building.

We should view this issue in proper context. Men find female breasts attractive. They like to hold them, cup them, play with them, fondle them. And the nipples. Men like to flick them, tweak them, lick them, suck on them. Although, unless men get to them at the right time, there's no milk for them. Women know this. Look at the number of items of female clothing designed to show them, shape them, push them up, say “This is what I can offer. What can you offer to get your hands, or other things, on them?” And the political scheme? Men and women have votes. Babies don't. VOTE FOR US AND GET BREASTS!

Perhaps it is a new agricultural policy. Since the regime are not competent enough to boost milk production from cows of the four legged kind it is time to try it with the two legged kind - at least they can be intimidated with fines and prison...

Can you see this happening in the UK. Imagine getting caught, with bottles, teats and formula.

What would the charge be? possession with intent to feed sound appropriate to me.
