Hmmm, I think that trying to keep a foot in both of those camps is likely to result in her splitting her kippers.

    Two things from this article.

Latin America has too many overlapping organisations. Most do very little.

Secondly, seems Brazil should have been a little more active in WW2 and it wouldn't rue the missed opportunity to have been one of the big boys back then.

'... the Brazilian president emphasized that the country has “extremely qualified relations with the EU and the United States”.'

    Now, there's a weasel-word! ... 'qualified' relations.
In English it means 'not exactly wholehearted'.
Perhaps Dilma's use of language is more sophisticated than we think!

Nobody was a greater critic of the prospective Presidenta than me, but she has done better - much better - than I expected.
She started out her term of office with 'wolves' on all flanks, especially within her own coalition.
I never really expected her to survive the power-plays; but she has done so, and with a lot of honour intact.
I can forgive her her 'demagogic language'.

Do you think that Brazilian troops should accompanied German troops across the Polish frontier in 1939? Or do you think that they should have even been more involved and participated in the invasion of Czechoslovakia? And why are you so dissatisfied by Brazil's actual participation in WWII?

My country was bombs by the Japanese in WW2.

    Was yours?

Brazil missed out on a permanent seat in the 1940s. Not my fault. Up to your usual low standards Hepatia.

I was unaware that the chief qualification for a permanent UN SC seat was having been bombed by the Japanese during WWII. If that's the case then there are a great many countries that should have such a seat.

It appears that Brazil now has a beef with Japan. The Japanese, being the inconsiderate country they were at that time, neglected to build aircraft of sufficient range to allow them to bomb Brazil.

Brazil is not a serious country since the end of the second reign, when our beloved Dom Pedro II was in charge. If we can't keep a contract with Mexico, we are better out of the big guys clubs, getting out of the picture. No one would take us seriously anyway... only the bigots in more f*cked up ecnomies of South America.

Seems Rousseff should have been worrying about bus fares instead of bullying the neighbours. Pity she didn't see the writing on the wall (CFK's wall, that is).The Paraguayans must be laughing their heads off.
