Only problem with flying on an Argentine plane is that its liable to be impounded for non payment of various RG debts at any moment. What a comedy! The corned beef meals are good though.

Well, LAN and then TAM winning constantly those awards since 15 years is rather normal. They are not the biggest Carrier in Latin America by coincidence but due to excellence. It would be rather a shock if LAN wouldn't win it...

@2 The universally agreed on bottom of the barrel outside of North Korea is Koyro. But in this horse race it would be Royal Jordanian Airlines since they can only count to 100. LAN was #36. For people wanting to be catty Aerolineas Argentinas didn't make the top 100 but are deep in the pack of the Skytrax 3-stars where most airlines are since they don't have hot exotic looking stewardesses which seems to guarantee you getting into their coveted but otherwise unattainable 5-star category. But for a little perspective on their math, easyJet and Southwest are #49 & 74, respectively (a lot of selfstyled low-budget carriers do well by Skytrax perhaps because they more easily meet the passenger's uh... expectations, others like Jetblue have really worked hard to create a surprisingly good product).

Seriously though, LAN and Oneworld's ratings delivers another blow to AA and others who don't hit the sky enough to see this coming an elite status qualifying mile away. Why wouldn't the FI want LAN over AA? A better airline, a better alliance and the same alliance as British Airlines (4* by the way & #27, PamAnn eat yer heart out), the logical next leg off for most Falkland passengers.

    Turnip at (7)
    Our resident IATA expert..........
Apparently knows a lot about the Airline Business....but.....
He seems to ignore that “AA” stands for American Airlines; NOT for Aerolineas Argentinas....

    What a Turnip!

We weren't talking about American/USScare so why confuse other posters, nor would I call Virgin Atlantic VS or use AR the country and AR the airline in the same sentence . The only difference the real AA and “AA” Aerolineas “AR” here is that while both suck one scraped into the top 100. Which didn't? Oh yes. The one that you fascists thugs tried to bully into the Islands' market by trying to intimidate out the one that won best airline for SA.

What a fascist. Indeed, what a failure.

What a petty exception you've taken - anything to be a contrarian, Think?

@10 an the irony is that I use ICAO abbrevs more since I use meteo data more than flight info and I'm no “expert,” just someone who happens to fly way too much not to want to know what airlines to avoid (and also ironically, our family usually flies the “worst” alliance of the big three, the same one as Aerolinieas). But the real irony is that A.A. (*ahem*) COULD give LAN a fair and hard run for their money w.r.t. Island flights as some posters have said elsewhere on MP since at the end of the day the best airline is the one that gets you out of town (and back home to your family again) the fastest. But oh no. They are afraid of the competition, hence the sad attempt to bully LAN out of the market completely -- and have been unrepentant douches towards the Islands on everything else making them less than satisfactory partners. Arg's and uh... AR's loss. Chile's and LAN's gain.

We never fly anything else from SA.

BTW @10 'anything to be a contrarian'? I think you have misspelt the last word: it's spelt CUNT.
