Argentina's central bank has warned businesses to stop rejecting commemorative bank notes bearing the image of Eva Peron to mark the 60th anniversary of the iconic former first lady's death. President Cristina Fernandez, whose fiery speaking style often prompts comparisons with that of Evita unveiled the 100-peso bills emblazoned with her profile a year ago. Read full article

If all goes according to plan, the soon-to-be-armed drones will work alongside manned naval and conduct both spying and strike missions. Today's landing was a pivotal moment for a development that will give the US military a major advantage in the growing global robotics arms race.
I LOVE MY COUNTRY!!

5. That's pretty! I love military technology!
Jul 10th, 2013 - 08:05 pm - Link - Report abuse 0What is very cool is this is the stuff they publish, imagine what they're working on that we don't know about!

Jul 10th, 2013 - 08:21 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Yes, necessity is the mother of invention. We will follow suit and you will see these on the new aircraft carriers. The new global combat ship has the ability to deploy a drone but not sure if it's this one.
Pretty soon there will be fleets of drones all over the world on the sea and land that can be deployed on a moments notice.

So cool.
I cannot believe that people in Argentina are reluctant to accept bank notes bearing the likeness of Santa Evita. I must say that it does appear to be funny money - but still!
Jul 10th, 2013 - 08:32 pm - Link - Report abuse 0The notes have printing errors! No wonder small businesses think they're phoney.
Jul 10th, 2013 - 09:19 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Does the Argentine government not believe in quality control? Did they not check and approve the plates BEFORE mass printing took place?
No wonder they are seen as amateurs by the world community.
To all forgers out there, print 100 peso notes, it won't matter about the quality or printing errors, that'll just make them seem more legitimate.
The Vice President owns the printing company...surprise surprise.

Jul 10th, 2013 - 09:50 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Completely off topic again as I could not think of anything to say on the above !! For those interested in military stories.
In 1992 I had an invite to 111 Squadron's 75th anniversary at RAF Leuchars. After the flying display, I was talking to one of the pilots who related this tale. The squadron were at RAF Akrotiri in Cyprus for aerial gunnery practice in their Phantoms
The Canberra TT17 was on station towing the target drogue when the Phantom made its first pass. The pilot remembered the adage, lead your target which he did, but by far too great a margin. The shells missed by a rather large amount and were nearer the Canberra than the drogue.
He flew up level with the Canberra and received this message
Phantom call sign.... Please note we are towing a target NOT pushing it!!!
@11 Given the huge amount of fake currency in Argentina I am not surprised people don't want to accept anything with printing errors. The worst fake note I saw was a cheap photocopy. LOL!
Jul 10th, 2013 - 09:53 pm - Link - Report abuse 0There's the joke about how much is a 2 USD bill or Scottish Point worth? but that doesn't bring in the collectors market. I know you're not supposed to do this with active currency but how much is can a decent Evita note rake in (in ARS, not USD)? Yes, I looked on ebay but that doesn't help.
Jul 10th, 2013 - 10:15 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Mint condition items aside, the post-76 2-USD notes and 1-USD coins can go above face value to a collector but its taboo to use them as real money. Is the same true for the Evita pesos or is the inflation problem going to eat away at this piece of collectable seed corn? Cattiness aside, it;s a shame really.
Very interesting read on fake currency in Buenos Aires

Jul 10th, 2013 - 10:30 pm - Link - Report abuse 0The rumour is that Cristina is going to be on the new 1,000 peso note!
Jul 10th, 2013 - 11:38 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Seems to suit her as she does believe that she is worth 10x Evita.
Eva Peron: Nazi, Hooker, self promoter, a lovely role model.

what a novel idea printing a populist on toilet roll!

Jul 11th, 2013 - 07:35 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Not sure I would use a $100 Peso in the bathroom just yet but a $2 has got to be cheaper than what they're paying now.
Jul 11th, 2013 - 07:47 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Elaine, I have not been in a year or so do they even have $2 still in circulation?
$2 bills are still in circulation, but no longer printed, I think.
