UK confirms policy of no support for World Bank and IADB loans to Argentina
UK Secretary of State for International Development, Justine Greening has confirmed that due to recent actions by the Argentine government she is no longer confident that further investments in Argentina would be consistent with the objectives she laid out in February this year, in an answer to a House of Commons Written Parliamentary Question. Internationally Argentina takes great joy in berating the UK for it's “sins” according to it's twisted logic. We have done practically nothing to challenge this - now we have.
£200 million may sound a small amount but there are more deserving counties who could do with this help.

Proper Argentines can assist by chasing down males and chopping their balls off. For females, a white-hot poker in the appropriate orifice should do the trick.

Now Venezuela can't even wipe their asses let alone support Cuba, Cuba for the first time is changing. After 60 years they are allowing some market reforms and travel. China and Canada invested money and technology in the Cuban petroleum sector, Italy and Spain (EU) worked with them to develop the Tourist Industry, their bread and butter.
I have been to Cuba Toby - you haven't.
They did suffer terribly - very little food.
The US is looking to invest, EU and Canadian tourism has brought new wealth, now that they are gaining the freedom to exercise Free Enterprise again.
Once the Castros are gone, it will be a new Cuba, whether you like it or not.

Troy did you read the Washington Post? Oasshole is thinking about support Argentina in a SCOTUS appeal. His AG Holder, whom is already on thin ice as well as Obama himself is pushing their lucking supporting a foreigner over a US citizen. They have not made a determination yet as I am sure they are testing the winds to gauge to repercussions. However, that being said, there are nine on SCOTUS with 4 as activist justices trying to re-invent law and 5 conventional justices that just judge the law.

But beyond that, we invest in and do business with loads of countries (really governments, but lets call them countries just for ease) that we are not exactly best mates with: the difference is we might see a return, or at least some sort of positive outcome for the UK.

Probably not legal though, as it was not established by the UN and held with internationally recognised monitors being present, we're the voters indigious, peoples or persons! Etc, etc, etc!
On the subject of petitions, I suggest they start another million signature petition to reinstate the aid.
Two quid a head, not to be scoffed at!

Tracking back to the Vietnam war, I seem to recall the Australia went and the UK didn't. Wasn't the UK more capable? But it wasn't in our interest. But if we'd gone with Hitler in the 40s, we could probably have got America back. Especially with Canada attacking from the north!
@71 Argieland owes the UK at least £45 million. It has done since 1979. And most of the money was used to finance the argie invasion of the Falkland Islands. By purchasing, amongst other things, two Type 42 destroyers. And, last year, some brain-dead group of liberals calling itself “Jubilee Debt Campaign” was saying the debt should be cancelled. Just goes to show how thick liberals are.
