Falklands’ next general election announced for 7 November
The Falkland Islands next general election to renew the eight members of the Legislative Assembly, five for Stanley and three for the Camp is scheduled to be held next 7 November, it was decided in the latest meeting of the Executive Council. Read full article

I think it would be another masterstroke if the FIG issued an invitation to members of the Argentine government and members of other South American countries to attend-as the Argentines are sure to refuse and betray their latent fascist/racist leanings that they do not disguise very well.
Full marks to them if they did turn up in the event of them being invited.
Will the OAS , Unasur and EU send observers ? Or was that privilege just for Paraguay ?

I don't think most Argentines give too much weight to democratic events on the Falkland Islands (or in their own country).

A smooth and well running democracy takes a far second to the above compulsive disorder.
They just want what anybody else has to be in their hands (land or money). If the Falkland Islanders exhibit democratic behaviour, the world seems to like that and that will make it harder for the Argentines to have the Falkland Islands. That is what bothers them, not a democracy that is running smoothly.
But, I might be wrong.

In other words, should the majority of the people so wish, and as long as they can demonstrate their own free will to remain as they are, the UN will accept the status quo.
The UN Fourth Committee met in 2008 and after a prolonged discussion on whether the fundamental human right to 'self-determination' could be conditioned where there was a sovereignty dispute, voted that ANY sovereignty dispute could not condition this right as the right to self-determination was too fundamental a human right to have conditions placed upon it.
The election is relevant.

Is there any chance you Falkland Islanders could elect more colorful leaders? Someone like CFK perhaps?
She is the most entertaining leader I have ever known. The things she says, and does, are hilarious. I'm glued to articles about her. She is like the greatest clown in the circus. She kind of even looks like a clown with that big red wig.
When CFK's gone SA is going to be totally boring. That woman is absolutely hysterical!
I'd pay more attention to Falkland Island politics if you elected people like her.
