Still, whomsoever is elected they will not be corrupt, unlike some.

'This was a decade where almost all of the Latin American countries multiplied investment coming in from abroad. Almost all, except Argentina, which suffered a capital flight record.'

    Argentina sending any observers?

They might learn something about running elections using political arguments rather than bribes.

I think it would be another masterstroke if the FIG issued an invitation to members of the Argentine government and members of other South American countries to attend-as the Argentines are sure to refuse and betray their latent fascist/racist leanings that they do not disguise very well.

Full marks to them if they did turn up in the event of them being invited.

Will the OAS , Unasur and EU send observers ? Or was that privilege just for Paraguay ?

    Also on this day.
A hotdog eating contest in Jersey.
A balloon animal competition in Germany.
French history day at Ohio junior library.
David Hasselhoff lookalike book signing between 2 and 4pm in Turkmenistan.

(Wonder which private unrecognized 3 man organization they'll bring in this time in a lame attempt at legitimacy)

@4 You're wicked. I wanted to go to the balloon animal competition, but there's no sign of it. Is CFK going to be the argie balloon? A compressed air line and I'll bet she'd blow up well. Where do you think the valve is?

Well #4 , at least they won't be wheeling in fat Max's Hitler Youth thugs to beat people up or hand out 100 peso notes in order to assure the re-election of the old trout like you do in RGland.

Your comments are pathetic (as usual). Suggest you find a zoo somewhere to have a debate with your peers.

We know your master wants it, and he knows he is never going to get it....

Reading the Buenos Aires Herald, Argentina classes itself as a Western Democracy. Another fine idea corrupted by Argentina.

Argentina - democracy gone west is more accurate...

Must be galling for them to have a beacon of democracy and decency 300 miles east. It brings the contrast into sharp focus.

Isn't it amusing when the troll tries to pat his own back. He can't debate sensibly, and has nothing to say, so he resorts to daft diversions - twerp.

Oh... Because no-one bit, the troll has taken to answering himself under the name 'Think' . What a turnip.

His master would be so pleased if this thread could be diverted from the display of democracy in the Falkland Islands. Presently, he is seething at being likened to as that slippery little sod Gollum with everybody laughing at him.

Expect more trolls (or more identities) quite soon.

I’m sure there are also some equally curious events and contest on the day of the Argentine national vote…. hell I can’t be arsed to imagine any as that will be the most ridiculous tournament anyway.

There you go you can do ‘argentine democracy.’

I don't think most Argentines give too much weight to democratic events on the Falkland Islands (or in their own country).

There is something out there they want to get their hands on. The word steal, however, is not in their vocabulary. They are Cleptomaniacs.

A smooth and well running democracy takes a far second to the above compulsive disorder.

They just want what anybody else has to be in their hands (land or money). If the Falkland Islanders exhibit democratic behaviour, the world seems to like that and that will make it harder for the Argentines to have the Falkland Islands. That is what bothers them, not a democracy that is running smoothly.

    But, I might be wrong.

    Think and Vestige

In 1970 it was agreed by the legal committee of the UN General Assembly that the emergence into any other political status, as long as it is freely determined by the people, can also be considered a way of implementing the right to 'self-determination by that people. In other words, should the majority of the people so wish, and as long as they can demonstrate their own free will to remain as they are, the UN will accept the status quo.

The UN Fourth Committee met in 2008 and after a prolonged discussion on whether the fundamental human right to 'self-determination' could be conditioned where there was a sovereignty dispute, voted that ANY sovereignty dispute could not condition this right as the right to self-determination was too fundamental a human right to have conditions placed upon it.

    The election is relevant.

    '300, so it goes -
300 are the years that they have met on 13 July since the signing of the Treaty of Utrecht which, among other things, sanctioned the cession of Gibraltar to Britain in the known terms of Article X. The media have managed to find a hole to remember from the news of the economic crisis, corruption, and other sovereignist challenge hogging the front pages, even without deserving the same attention to these issues. well deserves this third anniversary a reminder, not to celebrate (nobody celebrates the amputation of one of its parts) but to point out, once again, the anachronism that today represents a situation that has marked the history of a small geographical area of great strategic importance and has disturbed relations between two nations once enemies and now partners and allies....'

That's really the point isn't it. Let them have their bitching, whining and decrying, it's completely irrelevant outside of Argentina. Mock away, I can't say no one cares as people can be sensitive but I don't.

Is there any chance you Falkland Islanders could elect more colorful leaders? Someone like CFK perhaps?

She is the most entertaining leader I have ever known. The things she says, and does, are hilarious. I'm glued to articles about her. She is like the greatest clown in the circus. She kind of even looks like a clown with that big red wig.

When CFK's gone SA is going to be totally boring. That woman is absolutely hysterical!

I'd pay more attention to Falkland Island politics if you elected people like her.
