What a weak and cowardly liar she is. The world knows how Argentina backed out of, no...ran from talks the moment they saw that the very people would be most affected most by any changes to the status quo would be there. How pathetic and weak does a nation have to be fear the democratically representatives of 3000 or so people.

“What we have repeatedly maintained is the need for a rethink on international bodies, and on the capacity they have to be real intermediaries in conflicts.”

Something like the ICJ for instance?

    Got to love this lot.

They get the chair of an organisation set up to challenge problems around the globe and what do they talk about?

    Themselves!!!!!!

    Selfish, self serving wankers.

Gosh, that's funny. The UN SG makes an important statement regarding the UK's refusal to talk, and there is no mention of it whatsoever in the official spokesperson's readout of the meeting.

    Some mistake surely.

It would be nice for once if someone turned round and reminded her that talks were on the table if they logically included the people they were talking about.

I guess ignoring her just gets people through the day easier, but it is worrying that this women is allowed to chair the worlds table, tell blatant lies and get a round of applause.
Can someone not ask her to referee a Brazilian football match?

Personally, I am surprised she did not mention her countrys opposition to lab grown beefburgers. I would have thought that it was a much greater threat to the RG economy. Anyway Gollum only eats raw fish...

    Ban Ki Moon deepest sympathy...

I note she had a pop at the composition of the UN security council which will endear her to all the permanent members especially the US.

Doesn't mention in the read out of the meeting between the Secretary General and KFC that the UK refused to discuss the Falkland Islands what it actually says is that the SGs services as a mediator are available (but then that's his job)- maybe whoever took the minutes didn't notice or, far more likely KFC is a lying cow.

Even if the Islanders wanted to become Argentine, she could not bypass meeting them.

Until she accepts that the people that were born in the Falklands (especially those with several generations before them), have to be included in any talks, she can bang on to the UN as much as she likes.

No UN nation in their right mind surely would deny the islanders rights to be at talks that involve them?

The fact is the UK are prepared to talk at any time provided the people that are relevant are present.

Unfortunately for Argentina, their fascist constitution means jack squit to the Islanders who have their own, and makes 'negotiation' impossible.

The fact is that if the islanders did choose Argentine sovereignty they would be ethnically cleansed and deported (despite what the Argentine constitution apparently says.

It is time for south America nations to boycott diplomatic relationship with Britain, since the British governnent has refused to hand over falkland island to Argentina. United nation should be able to sanction Britain also. No country is bigger than the united nation. The issue of falkland island is clear,it was captured from Argentina in 1833 by Britain. This was actually a violation of the right of Argentina as an independent country in 1833. In this modern time,no form of colonialism should be allowed. As a matter of fact, Argentina is the owner of Falkland island. There is no way falkland island can be granted independence, since it was illegally acquired by Britain. The only government that has the right to grant falkland island independence is that of Argentina,if only they are interested in doing that. I know Argentina will never do that because falkland island is their property.

Ahaaaaaaaaaaa...LMAO...Man oh man..06:53 here in British Columbia and I just had to have my daily fix of “Laughs”...Arjuntina and its antics always fullfill that need...On the other hand however its kinda scarey when one considers Arjuntina and its present position at the UN.BTW anyone out there who can obtain a copy of “The Nightmare Years 1930 to 1940” (William L Shirer) may I recomend it as an excellent read. The propaganda angle between nazi Germany and todays Arjuntina is indeed identical.Ohh dear silly me,is'nt Arjuntina the place where fleeing nazi's headed for after the defeat of their country.(welcomed with open arms)Ohh yes..thats right I do belive that Hitler had promised his lil buddy Peron the Falklands once Germany had dealt with those pesky Brits and anyone else who refused his attentions. The problem is however that Germany has moved on...Arjuntina on the other hand has no idea how to “move on”...!

    @13 Perekeme:

I was waiting for the punchline, but it didn't seem to come... Did you accidentally click on the 'submit comment' button early?

Surely, you can't actually be serious?

To be a bit more truthful, I think you should have worded it this way...

It is time for European nations to boycott diplomatic relationship with Latin America, since the Latin American governnents have refused to hand over South America to Spain. United nation should be able to sanction Latin America also. No country is bigger than the united nation. The issue of South America is clear,it was captured from Spain in the 1800s by thieving imperial Spanish subjects. This was actually a violation of the right of Spain as a sovereign country in the 1800s. In this modern time,no form of evil plastic Spanish colonists with expansionist ideas should be allowed. As a matter of fact, Argentina is a made up name invented by Spanish thieves long after the Falklands first appeared on a map. There is no way South America should have been granted independence, since it was illegally acquired by thieving imperial Spanish subjects. The only government that has the right to grant Argentina independence is that of Spain, if only they are interested in doing that. I know Spain have already done that, because they could not counter the aggressive actions taken by their South American-based thieving imperial Spanish subjects, but they should rule South America because their property was stolen.

... Of course that is conveniently forgetting about the indigenous Indians, but why should we expect you plastic Spanish thieves to give them any thought?

@13 EVERY country is bigger than the UN. It's called National Sovereignty You know sovereignty, it's the word Argentina always throws out there. The UN is a deliberative body, NOT a world government. What a messed up perspective to support your argument. No wonder the British flag still flies over the Falkland Islands......

@13 Seems there have been a number of comments explaining that yours is drivel. In the first instance, the British government is in no position to hand the Falkland Islands to argieland. The Falkland Islands are a trust territory under the auspices of the UN Charter. Britain is the trustee accepted by the UN. Its actions are limited by the UN Charter. Giving the Islands away is not an option. Especially to an undemocratic, lawless state such as argieland. The Falkland Islands have been British since 1690. And argieland came into being when? 1811 was it? And how did argieland come to own a territory that had been British for 121 years before argieland existed? Time travel? There is no colonialism. The Falkland Islands are self-governing. You're going to have to explain your concept of “illegal acquisition”. Because the only “illegal” acts I've been able to discover are those of argieland. For instance, there was the “visit” of David Jewett in 1820. However, Jewett was a pirate. A criminal cannot perform a legal act on behalf of a state. Besides, argieland wasn't recognised in 1820.In 1823, the United Provinces of the River Plate appoints Don Pablo Areguati as Commandant of Puerto Soledad. An appointment in name only as he never sets foot on the islands. Equally, it was an appointment relating to a territory not controlled by the UP. If you think the UP acted legally, I'm the President of the United States. Britain is charged by the UN to guide the Falkland Islands toward “self-government or independence as may be appropriate to the particular circumstances of each territory and its peoples and the freely expressed wishes of the peoples concerned” It WILL do so. Argieland is in breach of Article 74 of the UN Charter. Briefly, argieland can get knotted. Get the idea?

    http://falklandsnews.wordpress.com/2012/11/12/un-confirms-that-Britain-is-not-in-breach-of-resolutions-over-the-falklands/

UN 2065 made in 1965 is no longer 'relevant' it has been surpassed by the 1982 invasion; Argentina making void UK/Arg agreements under the sovereignty umbrella; and the Falkland Islanders right to self-determination which was confirmed by the UN Fourth Committee when they decided that the right to self-determination could not be conditioned if there was a sovereignty dispute as that right to self-determination was too fundamental a human right.

What she is really demanding, is a change in the law, and or agreements that allow her and other dictators to acquire or steal what they want , when they want , and from whom they want, and call it legal,

She is either brain dead or very naive , or very stupid,

The UN would virtually have to scrap every agreement ever made, change history, and turn the clock back 50 years or more, virtually handing the whole free democratic world over to the likes of Mercosur
    And others like them,

And anyone or any brain-dead Argies who thinks differently is truly a CFK fan.
