    Brazil is one of the few countries that have nuclear power but gave up the bomb

    The difference with India developing the bomb is very simple: they had, and continue to have, some of the best scientific minds in the region.

    “A nuclear submarine 100% made in Argentina” where have we heard that before only this time it seems Brazil actually thought it may happen!

    LOLs

    Well as Spain and Argentina are ganging up, let us hope that Spain sells Argentina some submarines.

    Hahaha
    Junta do Brasil trying to get nukes to defend themselves from the Junta de Argentina. Back in 74.

    That will most surely divide us.

    Make sure you lot put all your focus on this story, there might be much more to it.

    Hahahaha!

    This is extremely old news; Jurassic era news, in geopolitics. C'mon, Geoff!

    @ChrisR
    Argentina does have an advanced nuclear program, which sells well in the international market, and it is capable of producing nukes - faster than Brazil, I think.

    Hello, Forgetit!
    Where've you been? Missed you!
    (Hope you've not been trading under another label ;)

    I just put a little 'holding comment' on the topic as I thought it might 'kick off' ... so far, little doing.

    Crawling out of the woodwork spouting nonsense again, I see.

    Please do not try and suggest that the medical isotope business is anything other than what it is: very useful for society (the ONLY thing TDC can claim) but it is NOT an advanced nuclear program.

    And when you do sell some poor schmuck a reactor you manage to cock-up the fuel cages because of a schoolboy error and your CUSTOMER has to help you put it right, FFS.

    Dear, dear me: must try MUCH harder!

    @Geoff, I'm still active online really, but not on Mercopress anymore. The same subjects, the same jingoistic debates, the same editorial bias, sometimes even the same news formulated in a new way every few weeks or so. I don't see much incentive to post much more often. It's good to be out of the bickering atmosphere, I mean, just read ChrisR's post above to see what it can do to people.

    I see you have forgotten the time when I first posted on MP some 28 months ago and you treated me despicably. Well, guess what, you reap what you sow.

    And everything I posted in 13 about your “advanced nuclear programme” is fact, including the statement that it is the ONLT thing that TDC does to aid society throughout the world.

    Unless you can think of something we have all missed?

    I'm not Argentinian, so don't think you're pissing in my parade with your long-winded abstruse tirades. And 28 months? are you really counting the time? What a sad thing you are. You're terribly good reason to keep keeping away from Mercopress.

    Forgetit,
    hope you've found a good site.
    My primary site has given up the ghost ... the BBC Editors sites.
    They used to be SO good with real experts giving extensive comment.
    Then they changed policy to a maximum word count of 400 characters - this destroyed serious discussion.
    Then they stopped all comment.
    A great loss to thinking people across the world.

    I still do The Economist, Reuters and a few US and UK quality newspapers, but they are just odd postings. Mercopress is a bit of fun and lightness, but I keep a measure of integrity.

    I hope your qualifications were achieved ... and I hope, even more, that they were real! Good luck.

    Four sentances abstruse? Are you mixing the meaning with the mathematics one?

    I don't mind being the reason that you will no longer be on MP, as long as you ARE no longer on MP.

    There, was that abstruse enough?

    @Geoff

    I've developed sort of an aversion to the MSM, I think. It existed before - it's stronger now, though. I'm sure a man of your views will roll your eyes at this, but today I'd rather get both my news and my commentary from more grassroots and local sources. I won't, for example, read the NYT for an analysis on the Beirut bombing. Small news web sites based in Lebanon will have to suffice. News outlets with a global reach tend to have a commitment with a pre-established narrative (clear, in Mercopress's case, even if it is not quite of global reach) that makes reading them a predictable, and occasionally infuriating, experience. Board discussions about news are also a sad affair, and Mercopress is not an exception. The amount of jingoism and groupthink on the part of most bloggers here - the British ones in special - makes the reading and debating so hard to stomach - though I admit I've probably grown more sensitive to this with time.

    @ChrisR

    Your attempts at looking smart will be far more succesful when you learn how to spell 'sentences'.

    But you understood what “sentances” really meant didn't you?

    However, you do not understand what abstruse means.

    Hi Forget it,
    you should be able to get Russia Today. It frequently includes items too sensitive for Western taste.
    I will carry on with this site; hope to see you here occasionally.
