US imposes anti-subsidy duties on shrimp from Malaysia, China, Ecuador, India and Vietnam

Imports of shrimp from Malaysia will be subject to anti-subsidy duties as high as 54.5%, the U.S. Commerce Department said, while lower penalties were set for similar goods from China, Ecuador, India and Vietnam. Read full article

    I wonder how big the US export is for agro prods. For with that farm bill, a “anti-subsidy duty” would fit perfectly...

    I thought the Gulf of Mexico oil spill had killed off the US shrimp industry - or at least that's what they would have the world - and BP - believe.

    So protecting the non-existent US shrimps necessitates destroying the shellfish-based economies of so many poor nations.

    Throwing their weight about, these big beasts are.
