    They must be mad!

Any English people going there will most likely not understand the risks to their person that they are running.

I really hope I am wrong but I can't help but see this ending in tears on so many fronts.

This will be the World Cup of Brazilians for natives only. It seems that foreigners are not ready to pay dearly for their safety in this lawless country. Very expensive country, no security, traffic jams, horrible airports and airlines... so waht could be good for anyone comig here?

Most of the world has recognised that Brazil doesn't have the air transport capacity. I doesn't have the airfields or the traffic control. It's because it's third-world. Over-reached itself. But the penalty is built-in. The infrastructure Brazil has tried to build won't be ready. People will prefer tv. Will Brazil learn?

I have to agree in part about the crime risk but also point to South Africa. Everyone said the same things where serious crime is ridiculously high. As it happens the World Cup was a success there and I know people that attended and had a really great time without incident.

The infrastructure is the main problem IMO. The money has disappeared as rapidly as it has been made available. I suspect the ensuing chaos will be explained away as a carnival atmosphere.

Don't even BOTHER heading to the major cities for a game. Catch a group stage game in Cuiabá, Curitiba, Porto Alegre, Recife or Natal and save some money. Get there a little early, and take a vacation beforehand, especially in Natal (RN) or Recife (PE). Stick to the south (Curitiba, PR; Porto Alegre, RS), and you'll get along just fine with infrastructure. Plus, you won't die from the heat, should you have to take a bus/taxi. Guys, there are ways to get around the nonsense.

Thieving from the foreigners at Carnival time is well established so they can combine the two. :o)
