Argentina's ambassador to Britain said on Wednesday she had not meant to offend British Prime Minister David Cameron when she called him dumb and his handling of the long-running dispute over the Falkland Islands foolish and totally useless. Read full article

PMSL - how did you actually get into uni? As the janitor? Are you trying to pull a Good Will Hunting?
Alicia Castro is one crazy woman not noted for a calm and collected personality,. Nor does she apologise. Mid term elections soon. it would not go down well if a diplomatic row developed with the UK and Ms Castro was asked to leave the UK. you can bet your life on sister-in-law has told her to make up or else!

Either apologise or don't apologise but don't say you're sorry but then turn it into an additional insult. Why on earth don't Argentina use professional diplomats who actually understand this?
So why didn't she mean to offend Cameron? The guy needs offending. He is dumb. The only reason that he's premier is because of Murdoch's support.

In Britain, the Labour party under Gordon Brown overspent (invested for the future) an enormous amount in its 3rd term so that we have run staggering deficits since 2008. Thus the British people kicked them out and are unlikely to return them in 2015. Nothing to do with Murdoch who if anything has done Cameron more harm than good.

Aug 22nd, 2013 - 04:03 am - Link - Report abuse 0It's quite clear that personal offensiveness is all the rage in the Kirchnerite circle. Dolly (trailer), for towing behind a vehicle. Hand truck, sometimes called a dolly. Which shall we go for? I favour the first one. A thick tool.

Oh, I notice that you do get 'long weekends' and National Holidays like St. Martin's Day off.
Is this a union position??

....well that was a lot stabbing in the dark.......all completely wide of the mark.....for example, state one instance of me supporting the RG Government.....just one ;-)))))

Aug 22nd, 2013 - 07:05 pm - Link - Report abuse 0So your Mam hasn't sent you to bed. I do like it when you post. Your Dad was/is a Brit. Apparantly the major aim of the RG govt. is to colonise/take the FI. Your posts support that. That to me is supporting the RG govt.
Reading some of my fellow Merosul /Mercosur member's postings on this subject, would anyone here disagree that it is better to win over an opposite willingly to your cause, than scream and insult them ?
Aug 22nd, 2013 - 07:11 pm - Link - Report abuse 0At on time both the major Airlines and the Diplomatic Services of the world provided lessons in dealing with the public and being courteous in order to accomplish a goal successfully. I believe Ambassador Castro simply lost her temper in the emotion of the moment, or missed a few lessons when she trained as an former airline hostess.
Has A_Voice left the building yet?
Aug 22nd, 2013 - 07:33 pm - Link - Report abuse 0So we can talk about the article again?
I will say one thing about Castro, she keeps herself in the headlines. I'm not even sure if Australia has an Argentine embassy. If we do, it sure as hell isn't anywhere as near as exciting as their British one.
Spare a thought for those hard working, professional, career diplomats bypassed for such a plumb post. Not only that, have to see it going to a KFC cronie whose mentality and english vocab, is limited to chicken or fish type transactions. Ohhh, they just wasted theirs lives....

I've got this weird keyboard.......all the numerals are next to each other...easy to catch one instead of the other.....;-)
It's nice to see that I am keeping you all fit and healthy from an abundant supply of Omega 3......from all the Red Herrings that you so readily take.....Hook...Line...and Sinker.....;-)))))))
Troy Tempest ask yourself a simple question........why are you on this forum....the thought is for yourself...I don't require an answer!
AVoice has left the building!
So so predictable!
Aug 22nd, 2013 - 09:07 pm - Link - Report abuse 0John Freeman is the UK Ambassador to Argentina now, is that right?
Aug 22nd, 2013 - 10:13 pm - Link - Report abuse 0If he shot his mouth off like this about Argentina and CFK, the Argentine government would take full anti-UK rhetorical advantage of it. And the Argentine populace would lose it.
CFK has published pro-Malvinas articles in UK newspapers hasn't she? Did Cameron's government ever do the same in Argentina?
Timmerman has thrown pro-Malvinas tantrums in the UK, has William Hague ever done this in Argentina?
Again, if this happened in Argentina, CFK and Timmerman would find this behaviour totally inappropriate.
They feel some entitlement to free expression when on UK soil but if the same happened in their country it'd be an egregious violation of their sacred sovereignty.

Aug 23rd, 2013 - 01:09 am - Link - Report abuse 0I agree with you. She forgot her audience wasn't confined to her nation's congress. Supressing one's ego is a crucial component is crucial for effective diplomacy.
Any politician who does not have the sense to realise that in this modern age of instant communication, there is no such thing as an off the cuff comment has no business being a politician, because they are clearly unsuitable for the job!
Aug 23rd, 2013 - 12:23 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Someone should give her a dictionary and tell her to look up the meaning of diplomacy.
No chance is there that Castro could run for Argentine president is there?
Aug 23rd, 2013 - 02:17 pm - Link - Report abuse 0You can but hope.
Oh! Now there's a pleasing prospect.

Aug 25th, 2013 - 05:01 am - Link - Report abuse 0It would help the Argentine Botox/body correction industry no end.
They'd make a fortune if they could make her 'presentable'.
Diplomacy is the art of telling people to go to hell in such a way that they ask for directions. (Winston Churchill)
Aug 27th, 2013 - 11:07 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Unfortunately, Castro has left out intelligence, strategy, code of conduct etc. that such as way demands. She was instructed by CFK to ruffle feathers but is beginning to look like a plucked turkey.
A prediction:
* CFK out in 2 years, sovereign default and devaluation in 2.01 years, Castro out in 2.01 years, normality (of sorts) restored in 3 years.
Trolls (of both sides) I am amused by your online diplomacy. Long live the queen.
