Bradley Manning, sentenced to 35 years in military prison for the biggest breach of classified US documents in US history, said in a statement he is female and wants to live as a woman named Chelsea. Read full article
This should be good. PFC Bradley Manning sentenced to 35 years. In a new twist, PFC Chelsea Manning is also sentenced to 35 years. That's 70 years then! And not a day too little.
She should be careful what she wishes for. I've seen Prisoner [:Cell Block H] (for which AngloT and Heis have a LOT of 'splainin' to do as to why it's STILL being aired ;). I see a laundry press in Manning's future.
Does this give anybody the impression that American Society is becoming a bit twisted?
If you want to dress up in girl's clothing, OK. But if this is what is going on inside his head, how did the military let him within ten miles of an intelligence position?
Is the military supposed to pay for the hormone treatments?
The military were fully aware of his 'identity' and his instability but they took the risk as his was a specialist area.
The senior officers who made that decision are likely to have no further promotion. but, in the light of the vast damage done to the US and the UK, perhaps they should take a larger share of the blame and also serve multiple years in jail. Is there a catagory called 'Reckless Employment'?
It does make you wonder though, the American vetting system failed miserably in this case. In my day they use to call this a character defect, much like gambling or drinking and it would most certainly exclude you from access to classified material. Mainly because you would be a prime candidate for blackmail by hostile intelligence services. I suspect that since his case and Snowden, heads have rolled and things have been tightened up.
Wait and see shall we? I am wondering how many more like these two are out there and not just in the states either!
@13 Being transgendered in-and-of-itself isn't a security risk. Mental instability that comes from untreated baggage that arise from it or any other untreated condition IS and the military has SOME liability here, I agree, if Manning's request for assistance were rebuffed as it seems to have been. Arguably in the US military at the time, it was not and may still not be a condition compatible with *uniformed* service -- but the condition is recognized in the US as legit and therefore should be recognized by US military medical folk so she could have gotten the psychological treatment and a non-dishonerable discharge. A well-adjusted mirror universe version of Manning could have been able to serve with trusted data with no problem as a civilian. But our universe's Manning was an ethical trainwreck and it had nothing to do with gender identify.
But playing Manning's identity issue as a reason for lenience for what is clearly a core moral failing (independent of gender identity) is bull hockey and his apologists/fanbase are going to burn bridges with the TG community. The LGBT community in the US is liberal-leaning for obvious reasons and hockeychecking them into drinking this particular glass of chunky milk for the progressive cause is no different than demanding that blacks approve of the prosecutorial shenanigans in the Zimmerman case, which would then be used against them tomorrow as they were yesterday (by the same lead prosecutor I may add!).
Are we sure he/she is not Argentinian? In his his defence he could say it wasn't me it was Chelsea, or she could say it wasn't me it was Bradley. Anyway these people play the system. I told them I was female, yet they still employed me. We now have a crazy world. I am sure the inmates will be pleased that he wants hormone therapy, more like happy families.
I am harping back to the days before we all started to realise that a persons sexuality was their own business, when men or women with these conflicts were forced to hide it and go underground, when it was thought that homosexualty were incompatible with armed service. God alone knows how many many of them paid the ultimate price taking their secret with them.
@18 (poop! my @16 WAS meant for Geoff @14 not fake Anglot, my bad, and Girl, that just ain't her look we can only hope that should she get out she can hire a personal stylist)... but yeah, I concur with you on that. And while they were certainly open to blackmail which certainly could justify their being denied clearances *while uniformed* they still were accountable for their actions, as was Manning. (Plus I am just waiting, cluebat at the ready, for stupid and dishonest people to say that those of us who have no sympathy with Manning are by virtue of her identity, which really hasn't been a secret, are intolerant of transgenders to delegitimize our disgust with what she did.)
‘Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell’
“As of today, patriotic Americans in uniform will no longer have to lie about who they are in order to serve the country they love. Our armed forces will no longer lose the extraordinary skills and combat experience of so many gay and lesbian services members.” Obama, 20 Sept, 2011.
The military psychiatrists failed to appreciate that this was not a simple homosexual issue; the psychological instability inherent in mixed/cross-gender individuals trying to survive in a less-than-forgiving military society made Manning a risk. In this case they made the wrong call and – for better and for worse – the USA became naked to the world.
Good first para, GFace #16. Don't know enough of US matters to fully appreciate what you are saying in 2nd para.
It's not a matter of sexuality or gender. My last post was meant to explain how difficult it was in my time to be in the services if you were different.
Even then it was a matter of what is right and what is wrong and in my opinion, it does not matter who you are or what your problems are, if you chose of your own free will to put on a military uniform on and serve, it is fucking well wrong to put those who chose to do the same alongside you at risk.
It's alright guy, don't be jealous. You too can have one one day.

I doubt anyone else has been this trolled. So first I'd like to thank my parents. I wish my mum was here to see this day. My father, always so supportive, who taught me to speak my mind and to argue eith the back up of facts. Mrs T, my year 12 high school English teacher, has a lot to answer for. Mercopress, for having one of the most lax trolling guidelines around; always trying to drive up traffic for advertising statistics, you rascals.
And then there the little people who make me shine. Think; with his stock updates, Marcos; who repeats them, Nostrils; who can spell but can't argue no matter what name he posts under, Stevie; who doesn't let the little man get in the way of what ideology days is good for them, A_Voice who is always leaving the building in the third person..... oh too many to mention. As for those that fell along the wayside: Susie, who got medication and Doveoverdover, who eloped with one if my Explorer socks.
As you can see fame has gone to my head!

Why would you think that Anglolatino had anything to do with you?
Why would you immediately assume they were a sock puppet.....do you know something we don't?
If someone was an Anglo and a Latino why not Anglolatino....maybe mixed parents?
If someone called themselves LatinoVoice or Voicetino do you think, I would think it would have something to do with me?.......Get over yourself!

Voicetino
Which of those is you?
It's academic anyway. Anglolatino won't have the stamina, intelligence or longevity of the original Anglotino. However poor Think and Stevie, who have been calling me Anglolatino for months now won't get the benefit of my replies to generate valuable debate.
