    Article says….:
”Falkland Islands Zoe Davies was the overall winner for the British Ecology Society annual photography competition......

    I say…:
    Wait a minute...
    ”Falkland Islands Zoe Davies”…?
    I don’t know no ”Zoe Davies”…!
    Have I missed something…?

Maybe they are referring to this pretty ENGLISH TOURIST…..:
”Dr Zoe Davies has been part of University of Kent School of Anthropology & Conservation furniture since October 2010…. Before joining us she was working as a postdoctoral training assistant at the University of Sheffield …….

    - Tell us a bit about where you live….
At the moment I shuttle between Sheffield and Canterbury on a weekly basis, as my partner is still based at the University of Sheffield. We own a lovely house up there, with a garden and large veggie patch, about 5 minute away from the Peak District National Park…….

-Where did you last go on holiday….
I visited the Falkland Islands last November on a research scoping mission (ahem, playing with penguins and albatross) does that count?

-Describe your favourite pair of shoes…
Hmmm, I have quite a few pairs of shoes and love them all. I have a real weak spot for strappy things with high stiletto heels.

Anyhow……. An excellent picture and a deserved First Prize for that lovely lady…

    You are sooooo right....
A great picture of some Malvinas birds taken by an English bird......
NOTHING to do with the Falklands.

A beautiful brain, and that's not even the half of it! ... the next generation have more attributes than did ours.

So much easier to get close to the birds in the Falklands ... my 75-300mm really struggles with close-ups of Gannets in the UK or Caracaras in Sergipe.

    @5 I_Don't_Think

Where are these mythical Malvina's? I can't find them on any map. Do you mean the Maldives?

Also, still sponging of the British taxpayers. Shame on you.

Surely you should be eager to return to the wonderful land of Argentina and sponge off them instead. I mean, it's easy to live off less than US$7 per day!

Anyone can do it, your beloved Cristina has said so.

So why don't you go back to Argentina the land you obviously love so much?

Is it because you are a raving hypocrit and a coward?

The relevance is that the pictures were taken on the Falkland islands.
What the Falklanders/British do there is their business. YOU have no say in the matter. It is nothing to do with YOU.

    #6
It all depends where you are Geoff. I have a Gannet colony close to me in the Firth of Clyde. Flying shots are possible with your 75-300 if the wind blows in the right direction. I have had some pass me too close to take with this lens.
The Black brows are easy at their nesting site. You can easily get within 10 feet of the birds at their nests. I have friends in the Scottish Ornithologists Club who have done the Falklands/ Antarctic islands trip and come back with better pictures than this.
The easiest Albatross location to get pictures is Kaikoura in S. New Zealand. Daily boat trips take you out about 2 miles and a wealth of seabirds come to the scattered bait. All that is needed is a 50mm lens.
On this trip I came back with pictures of 13 species/sub species of Albatross.

Think might be an RG turnip living in Blighty but he sure can surf the interweb. Now, if he returned to a hovel in a villa somewhere in Chubut he wouldn't have access to it. Must be costing Gollum a small fortune?

The relevance of this article is that, in its first paragraph, it blatantly lies about the nationality of the British Ecology Society photo competition winner...

The relevance of this article is that, if I hadn't mentioned the truth of Dr. Zoe Davies nationality, you Turnips would be convinced that it was a Kelperette who had won the 2013 British Ecology Society annual photography competition......

The relevance of this article is that you Anglo Turnips are so accustomed to be lied to that you can't even accept the simplest of truth as, for example, that that Zoe Davies bird is E-N-G-L-I-S-H......

Think, you really must mug up on the use of apostrophes, that's why you got confused old fellow. Had the apostrophe followed Islands you would have been correct, but you weren't Turnip!
One wonders what the other troll is on about most of the time, very bad value indeed. He doesn't seem to like Yanquis much, but we are all still best friends. The next few days will be very interesting. Under Argentinean leadership the UNSC has achieved absolutely zilch, zero, nothing at all - what a surprise?

    22. That persona doesn't like me because I poke holes in his elaborate lies. It is hard on them when the delusion is deflated since it took such a long to to construct the character.
I remember awhile back we used to have am unusually large number of Nordic retornados that lived part time in SA. Statistically way too many to be on this one little board. When I pointed it out Think got his panties in a wad and sputtered and spat for a long long time.
    It was amusing.
Now poor dumb A V is going through the same thing.

But nobody is getting hurt and when I am bored it is fun.

BTW Your insistence on calling Americans “dumb yank”s is odd. There are 200+ yrs of proof we are not dumb. So I would suggest you come up with something else that makes sense.

    @ Think / Voice

While you are very welcome here i do wonder why you stay if you dislike us so?
My suggestion is that the next time you get one of those National Trust ads that you told us about before - you should take out a membership and have a walk round some of our beautiful gardens and estates. It's hard to get worked up into an anti-British nationalistic frenzy when strolling round a British garden in the summer. You might even take a snap or two and compete against Zoe in next year's competition.
