    Well, I guess “Stop it, Spain!” from 175 Commonwealth parliaments is some sort of 'kick in the teeth'.

    The commonwealth is still strong, imo a far better institution than that of the EU, shared values, shared democracy and hey look, common sense :)

    Ooo what a surprise.....the Commonwealth?
    Nothing to do with this bunch is it?.....
    The CPA was founded in 1911 as the EMPIRE Parliamentary Association and its affairs were administered by the United Kingdom Branch.
    ah hem.....quick change of name to.....
    Commonwealth Parliamentary Association.....that's better not biased at all!
    and....
    H.M. Queen Elizabeth II as the Head of the Commonwealth......
    I can see clearly now the rain has gone......☂ or is it clouds ☁ no, it's BS!

    The CPA is opposed to the actions of Spain because they see Spain's actions as neocolonialism. If you look down the list of Commonwealth members there is enough experience to identify a colonialist aggressor. Spain should concentrate on running its own country rather than taking over other people's. god knows its people could benefit from less corrupt and more competent government.

    I think that most of them are well aware of the biggest colonial aggressor....having had first hand experience......BRITAIN!

    @7

    Yet they are happy to be part of the Commonwealth otherwise they would not be members.

    Is there a Spanish commonwealth association?

    How many of the Commonwealth countries have votes on who stages the Olympics?

    @4 Conqueror.

    Why are you such a loser?

    Did some guy make a pass at you once? Considering your age and pathetic language ability I don't think you need to worry any longer.

    You're obviously way past your virile prime.

    Any country is free to leave the Commonwealth should they so wish.

    Continuing to judge countries by periods of their history would be akin to me judging the current Argentine government by the Junta that once threw innocent civilians including nuns out of planes over the a south Atlantic.

    Hardly fair or accurate for CFK's administration! Nor very intelligent!

    Keep it up Conqs you really do look and sound like a fool. I'm on totally agreeable with A_Voice on this one, shut up as let us take the piss out of you.

    The Spanish government seems hell bent on fragmenting the country back to what is once was. GOOD.

    Perhaps then the states that actually provide most of the money to Madrid to keep this ramshackle country “together” will get to use it for themselves.

    Italy is the prime example of what goes wrong when the prosperous hard working north throws factories and money at the easy going, lazy, Mafia riddled and corrupt south. Don’t get me wrong, I love the people around Caserta, Italy, but hardworking is not in their vocabulary and they are preyed upon by the Mafia, ably supported by the local police.

    Sigh...all this pressure being applied by Spain simply reeks of cynicism and short-term expediency - the currency of politicians under their own pressure. They are using up political capital and goodwill that they can ill-afford and what will it gain them in the long run?

    Have you considered meditation? It might calm you down and it's cheaper than scotch.

    Spain can talk, brag , and cry , it can have all the argie bloggers help in the world, even the now infamous unmighty CFK of argentina,
    And she still won’t get it,

    Unless of course Spain is willing to prove us all wrong..
