Spain proposes sharing embassies and consulates with Pacific Alliance countries

Spain has proposed sharing embassies, consulates and trade offices with its Latinamerican associate-members of the Pacific Alliance, Chile, Peru, Colombia and Mexico. Foreign minister Jose Manuel García Margallo said that the idea of sharing some embassies and consulates already is operational in the European Union. Read full article

    If you don't have the money any more to run your own embassies you can ask politely to rent a room or two in the offices of countries that you once ruled.
    All you need is sufficient humility.

    Yes that's quite right, although not Ecuadors in London, it's a tad full at moment with a sitting tenant who is going slightly stir crazy.

    Nothing untoward about sharing embassies and consular duties. UK and Canada are working towards a bit of that, and for couple of decades now, Australia and Canada have had consular agreements to help out each other. As a Canadian vice-consul in Perú in late 1980s, a lot of my work was with Australians after their Lima embassy shut down for a few years.

    Spain is broke and doesn't know how to reduce government spending any further.

    Expect more of these “suggestions” from Gollum Lite, I am waiting for him to offer Gibraltar a couple of Typhoons to get their air force costs down.
