I hear the Pacific Alliance is going in the opposite direction and dropping visa and even creating a joint visa that covers all countries.

Another difference between Mercosur and the PA. Interesting to see how this develops further.

    Anglolatino

You are the ONLY one to talk about PA.

No one cares about a FTZ like the one Bush wanted.

Mercosur is much more than about trade, and if its not, we'll make it be.

Artists come and work in Argentina, fine them US$ 1000 for working there.
Why do the Argies always quote in US$ is it because they do not have the mechanics to charge in pesos? Inflation being what it is.

@2 Oh dear, the goals of the Pacific Alliance are free trade and economic integration, a visa-free travel area, a common stock exchange and common diplomatic representation. By contrast, mercosur's purpose is to promote free trade and the fluid movement of goods, people and currency. Looking further, it also seeks to eliminate import and export taxation within the group, force members to adopt a common trade policy with regard to non-members, co-ordinate various policies to ensure that “smaller” members follow the policies dictated by the larger members and force all members to adjust their laws in line with those dictated by argieland, Brazil and Venezuela. As Paraguay has found out, the “Big Two” can force another “member”, eg Uruguay, to take part of the blame as they ride roughshod over the “rules”. But now the “Big Two” has become the “Big Three” as the “Two” acted illegitimately to get another crook in. Why does latam have to have mercosur and unasur. One would have thought that “merco” was to do with trade and other commercial matters. Now it's macro-political. So what need for unasur? Actually, I get it. It's typical latino overkill. If mercosur doesn't get you, unasur will. Unasur is the “way in”. Where a country can be examined to see whether it fulfills the requirement to be adequately crooked. In reality, both “organisations” are as “bent” as they come. Note that, in July 2013, there was a presidential extraordinary meeting to discuss how fortunate Morales was that he didn't get “caught” trying to smuggle Snowden from Russia to Bolivia. Mostly due to Morales “bottling” it.

Mercosul ceased to exist already. Argentina was a member, but abode by its own interests only.

Mercosur is in crisis as it can't even decide who is a member or not; or who's active or suspended.

UNASUR is in crisis as it can't even elect a Secretary General.

The Pacific Alliance is just cruising along taking small steps that are resulting in more integration than UNASUR and Mercosur combined. So far a combined stock exchange, combined embassies and combined visa. What's Mercosur done in the past 20 years?

ApparentlyBrazilian artists performing in Argentina are exempt from these work permits while Uruguayans get fined. Thisis just another example of Argentina bullying a junior member of mercosur out of sheer spite. The answer is to charge all Argentines working in Uruguay a similar amount for a work permit. We could start with the Campoa buffons who accompanied CFK as her court jesters on her recent visit to Montevideo
Are the jokers from Gualequaychu entertainers too?
On that subject those clowns are demanded that the UPM plant be dismantled. As the city of Gualequaychu spews up to 50 times more effluent into the Uruguay river than UPM the logical solution would be that town should be moved elsewhere. Ridiculous isnt it?

@5 Ooooh, I do hope that you think argieland is going to get away with its murky plans. Read some articles. No, I mean, really READ them. Uruguay, the pushover lapdog, is starting to tell argieland its fortune. Brazil is pissed off because argieland is going to cost it megabucks. Paraguay is pissed off with argieland for current, in addition to historical, reasons. Venezuela is starting to hear the rumblings of military rebellion. That last is a funny one. Maduro tried to subvert the Paraguayan military and now he's facing unrest from his own military!

The Argentine measure is clearly contradictory with Mercosur purpose of promoting cultural exchanges, said Achugar.

The Argentine measure is clearly contradictory with even their own policies! Lets bend the rules and lie is a good motto, maybe it should be entered into the Argentine constitution. (or is it already?)
