Brazilian stats confirm the country is one of the most violent countries

Five people were killed on average daily in clashes with police in Brazil last year, according to a survey cited by the daily O Globo Sunday edition. The report from the Brazilian Forum on Public Security found that 1,890 people in 23 Brazilian states were killed in such circumstances in 2012, including 1,322 just in the states of Sao Paulo, Rio de Janeiro and Bahia.     True, Brasil can be a well dodgy place.

    I've been carjacked with a gun in the back of my head, in full view of my kids.

    So where is Brasiliero to claim this is all not so?

    Even the most ardent Brazilian must think this is going a bit too far.

    I wonder how many visitors will be murdered when they come for the soccer and the Olympics, AND by who, the police, the drug gangs or the good old pickpockets?

    A lot of the crime in Brazil is related to drugs. If the government put effort in protecting our borders we could have a better country. Plus, death penalty for murder.
