    Italy going the way of The Dark Country? Don't want visitors?

    However, the overblown destination needs to reduce the toxicity in the cesspit that is the lagoon before they bother cutting a new canal.

    I'm glad to have been lucky enough to see the amazing view 3 years ago aboard the Norwegian Gem. It is unbelievable to look from the cabin balcony over the whole of Venice and St Marks's square.
    ....Not so good if you were on the wrong side.
    ...and there are just as many people taking pics of the ship onshore as the passengers.
    It's like a floating town....
