You know that is a simply horrendous figure with 40% inflation and we all know it is exaggerated at that!
I guess hyper inflation starts at 50% so it won't be long now
since 40% is the new baseline

Cristina is back? Or on her back?
@1 flat (on her back) mate
I think the genuine inflation rate might just keep her there!
@2 unusual for you to be so generous with your estimates (& I read many of your posts!), genuine baseline probably at 50%...
On her way out, on a stretcher no doubt.... But will the replacement be any better?
Shame, like so much of LatAm, beeeeeautiful place, full of natural resources, plagued by constant economic mismanagement... *sad face*

    Even better news!
    The end is nigh.

A U.S. appeals court on Monday declined to reconsider an order requiring Argentina to pay $1.33 billion, ruling in favor of bondholders who refused to participate in two debt restructurings spinning out of the country's 2002 default.

Do you know why Yankee, WHY you have got screwed???.... Because you are paper tigers, if these crooks and thieves like the Ks detain your planes and rob you of your loans is because they know there is not much you will do about it... If Argentina gets away with stuff like this, imagine what China, Mexico and others are doing to you.... You are being fu#”ed right, left and center and your politicians are weak complacent over diplomatic patronizing softies. Just as Mr Trump says, you are the laughing stock of the world.

Economically and socially it is having huge problems.

Its relationship with its neighbours is almost in a constant state of confrontation.

My guess is you are too stupid to understand that the USA will let Arg fail. We don't have to do anything to you, you are doing it yourself. Maybe deny a few disbursements, maybe a little pressure here a little pressure there and voila you are in default again. Let Brazil spend$ and political will helping you during the next crash.
Can you see what we are doing?
The USA has a very long memory, we are vindictive and in the end we win.

Timerman detains your military C-17 and impounds its cargo, do you think 40 years ago Argentina would have dared doing something like that?? The Ks don’t pay your hedge funds (and even the FED sided with them at one point!) so at one point Argentina has to pay they default and what then?? What are you going to impound?? There are no assets left abroad to do so. And when Argentina changes its government the US will side with them and both government will re launch its diplomacy. It has always worked like that. Moreno just walks over God knows how many international trade treaties and ignores the WTO.

Of course this is all peanuts, but its a example of your decline. No wonder the Chinese feel empowered of robbing you billions if not trillions of dollars worth of intellectual private and military property by cyber attacking you. They know you are weak and considering that Mao Zedong said some 50 years ago that you were paper tigers back then, it makes you wonder what they think of your pathetic arses nowadays behind doors.

If you mean specifically to the plane incident it’s simple. The Ks detained the plane just to make a show and making all the show, they pick on you because it has political profitability, after time went along they gave back whatever it was Timerpunk retained, hahahaha your government knows how things function with anti American governments in the world, they just wait and swallow it all, Blackballed in what??

I was about to join in t this conversation until I read the very last sentence about China. CabezuDura now you are just trolling. That was a pathetic non sequitur.

Argentina relies heavily on China already.

If you think a country that still has a GDP per capita of an African nation, mountains of local and provincial government debt that it refuses to acknowledge and demographics of Japan 20 years ago will somehow own or be more powerful economically and militarily than the US, then you really need to read beyond the propaganda.

Argentina can act however it wants. However it will reap what it sows. Indeed it already is.

    You are reaping 25% inflation.
You are reaping a lack of inward FDI.
You are reaping poor relations with your neighbours.
You are reaping being part of a moribund trade group.
You are reaping a paucity of business investment.
You are reaping corruption and theft by government from the people.
    You are reaping outward emigration.

Yet somehow you think the US and others are paying the price. A price that to us, is so small that it doesn't register.

1)No Anglotino, I’m not going to move over to the US to become a waiter or bartender, and live as an illegal… It seems it doesn’t fit into your head people like me are not leaving their beloved home country they have and go to the US or Europe
1)Argentina in any case reaps having voting for Kirchnerism, but most of the problems you mentioned can be solved in a couple of years. Argentina doesn’t owe to China anything; it sells to it, not buys from it.
    3) And yes, if the US doesn’t act swiftly and put its pants on back again then China will overcome them economically and gain significant influence and power beyond its borders. This is a serious topic that think tanks and big businessman all over the world are talking about.

If saying any of this makes me a troll then fine have it your way, however I think you are just being impotent here, you don’t impress me that much

250,000 est Rgs in MIAMI alone! Of course the number is estimated because illegals don't want to report to a US census taker now do they?

Also its not to the size of our economy that you should compare its the amount of working population of Argentina. So 250k Miami 80K NYC 50k Houston and the rest of the USA takes a lot out of production since these Rgs actually want to work and make a better life for themselves.
Not good for Argentina not good at all.

Detroit bankrupt. Homeless people living in the woods in Washington State. $17 000 000 000 000 debt spent , some would say, mostly on Big Macs, guns ( because you can't trust yourselves ), porn , drugs and military equipment. Inner cities that sometimes resemble war-zones. Birthers. A significant number of your citizens seem to believe that becoming either a serial or mass murderer is a reasonable career choice.

If someone asked me whether all of the above reflected badly on yankeeboys' intelligence and character, or for that matter the American people, I would say “ 'course not , don't be ridiculous ”.

I'd even brave the heavily armed citizenry of Texas to get that one in. Austin would be cool ( lots of great guitar players ). Not El Paso though - I gather it's just a matter of time before it becomes part of Greater Juarez.

I'd then travel to N.Y. to see visit one of my heroes - Andrew Vachss - so I could shake his hand and ask him to autograph my copy of Bluebell ( my favourite book ).

It's so hard to give people perspective because they are too busy living in the headlines of today.

The US was once written off because the Soviet Union was going to overtake it with a superior economic system.

The US was once written off because Japan was going to overtake it with a superior economic system.

The US is again being written off because China is going to overtake it with a superior economic system.

The US has an amazing ability to reinvent itself.

I am not a fan of all facets of its economic or political system, however I will never deny that it is successful and that from every single crisis it has faced in its history, it has come out better and stronger than before: the Great Depression, WW2, Cold War, oil shocks, DotCom bubble and now the debt crisis.

If anyone thinks China is going to overtake the US economically or militarily, then they can only do so after explaining the following:
    * how does China handle a prolonged recession or depression when it hasn’t experienced one?
    * how will China be economically more dynamic than the US when it is about to have a higher median age than the US and its population will start actually shrinking before 2030?
    * what modern inventions by China are ubiquitous around the world?

Everyone concentrates on US debt because it is one of the only major problems they can see that will cause future economic problems. It is amazing how easily they can ignore the dynamism and creativity of its population.

But we will see. The economic collapse of the US has been floating around for nearly 50 years now and still hasn’t happened. How many times has Argentina suffered a major economic collapse and/or a military takeover in that time?

I know who I will bet on and it won't be Argentina or China.

Both the Empire of Japan and the USSR faced an ambitions and a growing USA, I don’t think these powers ever seriously threaten to overcome the US. I don’t understand where you get that they “written off” the US at any stage.

Great Britain achieved its splendor after subsequently defeating the Dutch and Portuguese navy’s in the Caribbean , the Spanish Empire in the Caribbean Central America and in the Mediterranean, the French Royal empire (North America and India), Napoleonic empire (Mainland Europe) it also halted and broke the Prussian Empire with its allies in WWI. But eventually it was replaced by the US and the USSR over time.
And if you compare the appeasement and retreating policies of Neville Chamberlain and Clement Atlee you will see a lot of resemblance to that which the US displays with China today… They are somehow hoping that by intertwining the economies together, China will be too dependent on the US to challenge or confront her.... Yet at the same time America’s focus is of “contention” spending billions in arming a circle around China using its fearful neighbors but not tackling the sources of China's economical rise and success such as currency manipulation-cheap workforce and dumping policies that leads to the huge trade imbalances and credits in China’s favout. it’s foolish policy in my view. I think simple common sense and a with Bismark or a Cardinal Richelieu touch is what not only the US is lacking but all of the West is. Chinese are not creative, but they hack the way into being update. So the US invests in new tech and China steals and produce it themselves. So American companies invest and their competitors profit from it for free. They are more disciplined and ordered than the Americans, they are not hated in the world as much as the US is, and the lst goes on and on

You'll be long dead and gone and the USA will still be rich and powerful.
FYI I'm staying at a hotel and my bellboy is a German immigrant who's family came here a few years ago for a better life. And he loves it!

My point on this thread has always being that China will very likely surpass the US as a global hegemony.
If the Chinese wish to decree the total colapse of the US dollar they can very well do so. Dont fool yourselves into believing that China depends too much on the wealth it created, they can lose trillions and the Gov't keeps on in power...You how ever will be in the gutter

And I don't know that much As statistics move on you are increasingly looking in many parts of the country as a 3rd world nation. I dont know if Argentina, but many other countries will join in the club of those who have a far better living standards and opportunities for its folk than you guys

That could never happen. You have a very poor education and obviously don't have much ability to understand economics or politics.
Don't worry most rgs are too dumb to understand how the world works. That's why you are in a continued state of collapse.

Well please, please explain WHY it isn't the case, whith FACTS, NUMBERS and REASONABLE THINKING why this is not going to happen.
Don't tell me you cant do so and that this is just not more of your wishful thinking. You know like you are going to get paid and all that....

I'm traveling so I'm posting from my phone. Short and sweet so here it goes
Not enough food to feed their population
    Not enough fuel
    No innovation
    Super corrupt
    Old population
    Bankrupt banks
    Huge undocumented local loans
    No infrastructure
    Huge uneducated peasant population
Shall I go on or is that enough?

    @CabezaDura

    “Argentina will never become Venezuela”

I read and heard several times on “Clarin Miente” and “La Destrucción” news that Argentina is like Venezuela.

How can you deny that now?????

Also you have said several times that Argentina economy is a shit and that this govt have destroyed education, standards of living and created more poor.

So I guess that Yankee Bobo coming from the powerful and richest country in the world is right here.

After all if what you have been saying all the time here.

So Argies= dirties, cabezitas negras, Ignorant, corrupts and poor.

Wow fortunately I was born in Europe its is that contagious?

First of all none of those factors have prohibited China to reach this far. Old population and uneducated Chinese peasents are far better than the niggas of da hood you have... China has huge shale reserves of its own and is at close distance to Iran and Russia. If not the biggest its one of the largest producer of food in the world, the chinese do know how to feed their people they were a superpopulated nation long before US, Brazil and Argentina existed and imported soybeen from them, you know nothing of history. No inovation, no need for it they hack it from you and it pays off. The chinese banking sector in crisis so far is just rumors?? ... will the government bail them out like the western countries did?? I think also its a bit rich for a americunt to point fingers about this to the Chinese banks.
Also they are not as stupid as you think they are, if they were they wouldent have you by the balls.. No infrastructure?? And yet their cities are dazzling new with skyscapers and modern architecture that humiliate yours. Amazing airports yours are 3rd world and they will be investing in infrastructure as of course you gave them they money to do so...

No yankeeboy that is just random issues China faces, it doesnt mean anything in the grand scale of things

    @yankeeboy

    Nah!
    Are you crazy?
1-I will be missing all the fun here.
2- I will have really to work like crazy to have a decent standard of living there.
    3-Europe is so boring...

Anyway have you seen how CabezaNegra y Dura from the countryside has changed his speech from the most fervent lover of Adam Smith to Marxist Axel Kicillof speech in a second with his explanation of China?

2 words more and he will be named vice minister of economy of la Campora...

Not Even Mao Tse Tung could make a more fervent defence of Communist China. Agh!!!

It is amazing what people can do for a Chori Pan and a bottle of Fernet in these days.

What I most regret is that these communist Marxist Peronists live from our taxes and what they only do is drink Fernet with Cola and dance Cuartetazo like crazy monkeys all day.

Ah! I think I will vote for Macri next time sure he will open Argentina borders and will flex imports duty, dollar will be 1=1, etc. So I will be able to bring latest Mercedes Benz and BMW S1000RR from Germany for me and friends instead to buy shitty expensive cars made in Córdoba.

CD/Toby, you lack of first hand knowledge of either country is apparent in your ridiculously inaccurate post.
BTW we've had this discussion before, look it up, you are too dumb for me to teach you economics and politics on a message board.

It has to make you laugh. Fora such as these are full of economic geniuses that reside in Argentina.

And yet their government has to lie about economic statistics.

Well it will be interesting to see which country has the next major crisis. Argentina or the UK or the US or Australia.
