Uruguayan president José Mujica said that members of Mercosur must readjust the block's legal framework ‘to make it work’ so that differences among its partners can be resolved in an institutional framework. He insisted on a review and amendment of mechanisms with greater flexibility and more adapted to current circumstances. Read full article

“In Caracas, president Nicolas Maduro will be needing some kind of explicit support from his Mercosur partners to help him overcome the current economic and security meltdowns Venezuelans are facing”

Doesn't Argentina owe a huge $$$ oil money debt to Venezuela???
Maduro could sure use that just now.

Looks like Mujica has more spine than Limp Stevie, and is fed up with Argentina putting them off too.

Brazil will likely try to ram through a Mercosur Trade Package with or without Argentina.

    The pressure is on, now.

This outfit should be renamed MERCOSORE and treated appropriately with red-hot irons to burn out the puss before using a balm to ameliorate the resultant inflammation!

    Job done.

Pepe is a lame duck president and will soon be history. He should have done what was necessary when he became president instead of licking the arse of TMBOA. It has got him nowhere other than a brown tongue and despised for his weakness. But hey, he was a Tupa so that’s alright then.

#3, but what he is saying today is the realism of today's Mercosur politics.
    He is not wrong.

    * He has lots of scope because the protocols of Mercosur are nowhere near written and operable.

    * He should lead the process of segregating Mercosur Economics from Mercosur Politics - as of today.

    * He should list for world-public consumption all the 'screwing' that CFK has been doing to his country, and should then repeat this (eg) every time Ar mentions the word Malvinas.

    * He should take the 'screwing' to the UNGC, with a view to placing the list before the ICJ.

    * He should make public that he believes that CFK's health and 'conditions' are **unacceptibly** holding back ALL Mercosur nations and many beyond Mercosur - including the 30 nations of the EU.

    * He must get agreement from *Brasil* to support this package.

It is time that he administered the 'coup de grace' on behalf of his nation, the original Mercosur, and the Argentinian people.

Let's suppose Pepe gets support for this call, and this happens today.

And, tomorrow the Mercosur people get together and start hashing out the changes that Pepe wants to see happen.

Supposing the above, how many weeks or months would it take the Mercosur countries to put Pepe's changes into place?

Isn't it certain that Argentina will call for the opposite of what Uruguay wants?

it doesn’t solve differences that arise between countries”, Mujica said to local press. He added,
    ,,,,,,,,,,
    it seems simple enough ?
delete Argentina , hey presto, problem solved ?

or is it not that easy..

To be serious, I think he is lamenting the lack of the unwritten protocols as you say.

But even if they were written, TMBOA will simply ignore them as she does the LAW.

It has taken Pepe 8 decades to decide that he should not have killed anyone in the furtherance of his illegal claim on what was a democratically elected government and now we expect him to do more than talk?

No, he may be correct now, but his time has gone as he will be soon and good riddance for destroying what was an excellent financial position that he inherited from Vasquez.

What can you expect from someone that did not even finish school, this is why he talks in homilies, the trouble is nobody understands what he is on about.

that debt only exists in capriles mind.

not that i like timerman at all, but a politician like capriles in the middle of a campaign, is the same sh*t or even worse

Mujica was one of the leaders that sold Mercosur's soul to incorporate Venezuela and now it is coming back to bite him on the arse.

I'm sorry Uruguay but you need to learn a collective lesson when your leaders are spineless and dance with the devil.

That I do envy, imagine not having to face another winter... My body was never made for winters...
