Full article 170 comments

The US dollar in the Argentine official market on Wednesday soared 23 cents to 7.125 Pesos, establishing a new record in the midst of uncertainty and frantic trading. The last time the greenback price climbed 3.4% in a single day was back in April 2002. Since the beginning of the year the Argentine peso has plunged 9% against the dollar and a year ago the dollar stood at 5 Argentine Pesos. Read full article

    Talking about broken records...

    Hey!
Lets talk about something else for a while.

    Like....

    Argentinas inflation rate...

    Nah.

Stop killing children and pay your debt!

Oh look Argentina's economy is sinking faster and faster.

But they're not in any trouble. They are living a in socialist paradise where everything is tickity-boo, everyone is happy, and everyone is equal....except that it isn't a paradise, no one is happy, and the government believes that they are better than the rest of the mere mortals who live in Argentina.

Yankeeboy has been proven correct in his predicitions, over and over again.

Yet all the trolls can do is...well nothing. Their posts are even more useless than the Argentine government, and their desperation to try and divert, insult and instill 'whataboutery' is in full swing.

All Trolls repeat...IT'S NOT HAPPENING...IT'S NOT HAPPENING...IT'S NOT HAPPENING.

Self delusion is all you have left.

Funny thing Lep is that the official rate is not market bond so the government is dropping it like a rock. How loooooow will it go? Last year when I was in Argentina the rate was around 4.95 in Jan/Feb.....now.....7.12....that's almost 44% in one year yet Indec wants them to believe that inflation is running 10%........riiiiiight.

    It is happening.
You lot ARE up to your ears in somebody elses money.
You lot ARE killing women and children in the middle east for profit.

    And the world knows it.

Oh, and by the way, Argentina has high inflation.
Talk about that, I mean, lets not divert...

    That's what I said, Poppy.
Lets not divert from the usual topic, Argentinas inflation.

I mean, broken records and all...

All those things you mention are horrible and needs to be adressed.
Killing a 4-year old by his front door is not the solution.

But why talk about things like that when we have an inflation rate not to deal with?
Why pay your own debts when you can tell Argentina to pay hers?
And why stop killing children when the oil keeps floating?

Why not divert and talk about something else instead.... Like the inflation rate of... Argentina.

Grow up Stevie, all we want is for Argentina to wake up and take responsibilty for their woes. We do not hate Argentinians per say but they are the only ones to be able to oust this disaster of a government. She ( who must be obeyed ) will I predict not finish her term in office. But looking at the opposition, I do not see a credible force either. It is a real shame because Argentina has the resourses to make it into the powerhouse of LATAM but the policies are wrong. It looks like everyone is looking over their shoulders to see what the others are doing. I personally think it is time for the Military to take charge and sort Argentina out.

Who says we kill children, grow up, there is not one person on this site that does nor abhorr the killing of children, you have to leave that to 3rd world countries, like Syria, Iraq, Afghanistan all the countries that the western countries are trying to save from despotic dictators. Was it not so long ago that the Junta in Argentina were taking children from their parents and giving them to personnel in the military ( or have I got that wrong )

@1 No. Why don't you do something really different, for you. Stick with the subject of the article. But if you really want a diversion, why not go for Genghis Khan and the Mongol Empire? Plenty of room for whingeing. Spend some time calculating the number of people he and his successors murdered. Might give you a “focus”.
@3 I think that what Indec is saying is that inflation is at 10% per day. That would be believable.
@4 Sorry. Not interested. How about the rate at which the argie state is murdering indigenous people?
@8 Nope. Sorry. Try argie illegal activities in Antarctica.
@12 That's your right. But OUR right is to defend the Falkland Islands and their people. And South Georgia. And the South Sandwich Islands. For so long as you support argieland and its false claims, you are the enemy. Amazing how defensive you get. Let's try some reality. Why is there a state called Uruguay. Because Britain enabled it. Did we make a mistake? Do you want to be an argie? All you have to do is to tell Mujica to make Uruguay argieland's twenty-fourth province. How much support will you get from other Uruguayans? Or you could just move across the border and enjoy the “socialist” paradise. I'm sure I've previously pointed out that Britain built argieland's economy. And it was fine. Until the argies gor their hands on it. That's a matter of historical FACT. Then, Britain built most of argieland's railways. And they were fine. Until the argies got their hands on them. Then their railways started killing them. Then there were the instances where they stole, or tried to steal, other people's territory. Check out the TRUE history of every state that borders argieland. Start with Chile. Still not our problem, until they tried to steal ours. Then they had to be stopped. And they were. Even for Uruguay they lie and ignore treaties to impede Uruguay's economy. Now, why don't you trot off and spend a couple of weeks researching argieland's many crimes?

Stevie Mussolini and Hilter were democratically elected as well. If you support asslips kirchner so much, move there.

Just because one is democratically elected, they can also democratically remove her as well. She put Argentina in such a position that Argentines cannot legally possess internationally currency, all but outlawed purchasing items of choices internationally, mad international travel almost nil because no country will take the RG peso, created product shortages because they stopped imports, restricted imports to the point that inflation is spiraling in and upward vortex. The list goes on.

The rapidly falling and failing peso is only part of the story, rumors of default are crushing Arg debt and stocks. Bonds have lost 15% in value JUST IN JANUARY!
This ridiculous PC meeting has backfired, Ks were thinking it would make them look like they were trying but after the PC came out and said that the meeting was a waste of time stocks/bonds/peso dropped. YPF was down 9% yesterday.
The U$ are quickly running out.
My guess is they'll start arresting and closing the “caves” on Fl ave to send a message.
Maybe a couple of traders or their family members will have “accidents”

    Thugs will be thugs

You can also count on CFK to do the exact opposite of what is good for the economy, after 40 days of keeping her trap shut she doles out $600 peso a month to “students”.
    Bring on more inflation

Terrible thing to be able to buy things via the internet regardless of cost. Pensions fine, a little extra every year, never mind the kids they can look after themselves. Funnily enough I made a fortune on the stock market by buying Rockhopper shares and didn't mind paying CGT on them £18000 to inland revenue. I will again be investing in Argentinian oil in another few months. Premier oil, Rockhopper, Falkland oil and gas, Argos and expect to make another fortune for my kids.

I know they don't like the differential in the market (real) rate and gov't rate do get higher than 70% but this depreciation is incredible. Its like 2002!

Come on Argentina don't intervene, let the market set the rate, don't waste your reserves (BCRA tipped in $100 mil), the currency will find it's correct price all on it's own, the market is self leveling. It's the medicine you need. It will help cure your budget shortfall, increase the amount of dollars traded, stimulate exports and revitalize your once huge foreign tourism industry. The down side is increased inflation, but this can be combated by a carefully administered decrease in money supply ( in real terms). It's still not too late you can save the ship.
BTW thanks again CFK for the entertaining experiment. I loves it.

The following list of countries have been blacklisted by the EU as tax havens.

    22. Malta
    23. FALKLANDS ISLANDS
    24. Isle of Man

“The so-called tax havens are havens only for organizations and individuals who operate outside the law; they are used to launder money the source of which they are unwilling to declare, evade taxes and avoid being identified and controlled.

They may be businesses or individuals who commit economic crimes, as well as traffic in drugs, weapons or persons, illegal organizations of any type or dangerousness. ”

That ranks as one of the funniest videos I have ever seen!

And the dogs!!!! There was one just sleeping there happily until disturbed.

I'll admit that emergency rooms can be full of feral people in the best of places. But to actually have dogs running loose!!!!!!

I tried to explain to a Latin American once that we don't have stray dogs wandering the streets in our cities and he asked me why. I told him that any dog out on its own is picked up by the local council and then the owner can recover the dog usually for a fee that can be several hundred dollars. He was horrified when I told him those that were not claimed and could not be adopted out were put to sleep. He thought it was cruel to kill them but I thought it was cruel to watch maimed dogs with maggots in their wounds wandering the streets eating scraps and taking dumps whereever they wanted to.

    But in a hospital!!!!!

I know right! The dogs know how to survive in Argentina.

They're like,“ I'm getting the feck outta here!”

Obviously not the first time the dogs have seen an Argentine armed with a knife or a gun.

the uk bloggers obsession of a continue desire to critize this country indicates a mental illness of a persistent disturbing preocupation with unreasonable ideas.
Rather than to collect funds to buy and install a CT-SCAN equipment in the islands hospital, the uk bloggers spent their times showing to all how SICK they are!

@151 Where's your little pals? Daa, Doo and the other Ron! I'm afraid you've become obsessive. Your urgent need to “post” about it everywhere suggests obsessive-compulsive personality disorder. Not too much to worry about as most argies have it. Have you noticed a tendency toward mental and interpersonal control at the expense of flexibility, openness, and efficiency? We have. How about a preoccupation with orderliness and perfectionism? You've got it. Off to see a psychiatrist on Monday. You need to get your psychosis checked out. If you've been through the argie education “system”, you will be particularly prone to OCPD. Worrying, eh? I do have some knowledge in this area.

________“urgent need to ”post“ about it everywhere”....?______
JA JA JA ...Come one, that is not true...
The lack of development of the islands 300 years AFTER and still the islanders don't have sufficient funds to modernize the hospital named after a big King but without a CT-SCAN EQUIPMENT indicates the UK has not interest in the islanders well fare.
Give up Con-Poppy, get a real job, get a life! ....years posting your desire to “kill the 41 millons argies”...shows you are nothing more than a coward!

Population of FALKLANDS = 3500 ( more or less )
Population of Argentina =42,000,000 ( more or less )
If the FALKLANDS were to buy a CT Scanner ( refurbished ) 4 slice =US90,000
    16 slice = US$ 160,000, 64 slice =US$ 300,000
So pro rata 42,000,000/3500 = 12,000 CT Scanners Argentina have
So Argentina being Argentina they would want the best
So 12,000 scanners @ US$ 300,000 =US$ 3,600,000,000 or I was going to work it out in A$ Pesos but the calculator blew up.
Perhaps you could show us a link to the exact no. and type of CT Scanners the Argentine Hospitals have.

“perhaps you could show a link to the exact no.and type of CT Scanners the Argentine Hospitals have”...???? The CT-SCAN equipement was need it in the islands ...not in argieland.
The islanders keeps claiming they are wealthy people compare to other south american nationalities.
The islanders keeps claiming making higher wages and having a better economy, but they believe a CT-SCAN equipment is not necessary since they can travel to Chile for medical services if they need so...
Come on, the fact is that the islanders don't have sufficient revenues and cannot develop the islands or attract more british citizens to reside in such SLUM place!

Sorry Ron, you are talking out of your rear end, of course the FALKLANDERS could buy a CT Scanner but what's the point if a patient would need a scan in let's say 10 years, not cost effective , surely even you can see that. No use for a CT Scan and anyway it was an Argentine that neede it, not an ISLANDER.

“of course the FALKANDERS could buy a CT Scanner” ...
but, what are they waiting for?
are you saying no one can suffer an auto accident?

No a decent 5* hotel because the Malvina Hotel smells like dirty wool is sufficient for the tourists?

No a decent airline company because the islanders can use LAN Chile?

The truth is, the Falklanders, don't have sufficient revenue to modernize the islands after more that 300 years!

Their mentality only permits to say: we are briiiiiiitish ...
