@7 No sign of it yet - there are far worse things that we waste our tax £££s on - supporting IMF loans to Argentina for a start!

#7 Rockhoppers are perky little chaps. Fiesty, determined, they will fight against the odds and defend their territory fiercely. An excellent name for a talented and successful oil and gas exploration company which reflects the Falklands spirit. Oh! I forgot, you have never been to any of our islands and you have been brainwashed with lies from birth. Stick it up your Junta unsuccessful colonialist..

The answer is in the comment “ ROCKHOPPER Exploration has identified 4 wells it plans to drill in the upcoming 2014/5 drilling campaign in the FALKLANDS ”
    ARGOS RESOURSES
    BORDER AND SOUTHERN
    FALKLAND OIL AND GAS
They will be drilling in their own licence ares as well.
Please keep up, I know this goes against the grain but the FALKLANDERS need the money as Argentina is trying to “ strangle them economically ” as quoted by your esteemed government. I am looking forward to tommorrow to see what reaction the markets will take.

Paul, you need to get a handle on your cognitive dissonance towards the Falkland Islands and their inhabitants.

It appears to be a very distorted small window you view reality through.

    @7 Paul

“as i said before, stop waiting a miracle, get a job, and stop being parasites”

Most people in the Islands have jobs and as they make a surplus every year they are not bumming off anyone-unlike Argentina that owes lots and lost and lots of money-therefore the Argentines are parasites.

And guess what? The Falklands aren't in trouble with the IMF because they don't need them, unlike the sponging Argentina government who can't handle money

What are your lot going to do about the increased exploration ? Hand out more arrest warrants?

Or perhaps you're going to send your navy, the envy of the world, to bully the islanders then run away when big brother turns up.

At least if you send the Liberturd, it will have ready made white flags attached to it.

How many oil executives have been imprisoned in Argentina so far?

How many have had extradition warrants sent out yet?

The fact that these companies won't get work in Argentina does not seem to stop further exploration round the Falklands.

So what are you going to do about that chay?

Actually, the operator of two of the four wells I believe will be Premier Oil (perhaps this company is more to Paul's liking), the operator of the two wells will be Falkland Oil and gas. The final 2 wells will be operated By Nobel Energy (a US oil company) in partnership with EDF Edison (a French Italian mega company)

    Hope that clears it up...

Not sure yet if Borders will be drilling as they are yet to announce a partner.

    Paul,

I can't hate you, only pity you.
    Sounds condescending doesn't it?
That's because you are being duped by the society that raised you and educated you.
Now you are betraying your family and decent working Argentinians, while a callous President and her government, bank your money, ready to leave.

And you won't open your eyes.

You don't have to answer, just consider this a public service.

Well, with all that activity going on then we had better think about a more permanent Royal Navy presence in the Falklands.

We would, of course, only be using them to safe guard our citizens against any fool hardy attempts by any 2nd rate, corrupt, land snatching latin American country, who would want to impose itself on a peace loving BOT.

Yes Premier oil is the operator in licences Pl032 ( SEA LION ) 1 well on Chatham and sl20 to establish if a gas cap is present. 1 well on Zebedee licence no pl032
1 well Isobel/ Elaine, 1 well Jayne East as I understand it Rockhopper have an interest of 40% in the Chatham drill, and 24% for the remaining 3 wells
Edison has 25% and Falkland oil 40% and Noble 35% in Northern licence ( Noble is the operator )
Edison has 12.5% and Falkland Oil 52% and Noble 35% in Southern licence ( Falkland oil operator )
Falkland Oil retains 75% of the Loligo and nimrod complexes. Falkland Oil is fully funded for 3 wells.
    Roll on 2014/2015

Argos Resourses at the moment know they have gas in the Johnson field but need funding to drill, Borders and Southern also need funding but am pretty sure that they will drill. Makes sense if the rig is going to be there, no?

Pauldron- Can we get some FACTS into you perhaps? The UK Taxpayer?
The UK Taxpayer has NOT given financial support to the annual costs of running Govt and Public services in the Islands since about 1890- that is over 120 years ago!
For many many years the UK Taxpayer MADE money out of the Islands - Farms- large estancias with ownership registered in Britain PAID TAXES to the UK Govt.
The Islands Govt in exchange received some amounts of money from the UK in return towards the costs of some infrastructure capital projects- like roads, the old airport etc - In exactly the SAME way as have done many British Commonwealth Territories- and even Argentina has!

Since 1986 and the Fisheries Zone around the Islands- The Islands Govt has been 100% self financing with not one £ of UK taxpayer aid for anything at all.
Instead we invest several million £ a year in UK buying British material, employing British tecnicians etc etc .
The recent Oil Exploration programme of 2011-2012 pushed approx HALF A BILLION POUNDS into the British Economy as materials, people etc came from Scotland to work here. All that money came from the international investors in the Oil Companies like Rockhopper etc.
The Development phase that is likley to start 2015 on is likley to put some £3-5 BILLION into the British Economy over the next 20-25 years. in the same way.
WHY? - Because your President was so damn stupid she tore up agreements and refused to allow Argentina to be involved - Argentina- the nearby logical base for much of the supply infrastructure! Instead the Oil Industry in Britain is laughing all the way to Bank thanks to stupid Nestor and Christina!

The ONLY cost to the British TaxPayer is that of the Islands Defence - approx £80-100Million a year.
BUT - most of this money would be spent anyway of paying and feeding and training these soldiers somewhere else if they were not here - so the only “ReaL”
    cost is transport

I’m afraid you’re mistaken. The British tax payer, of which I am one, pays nothing towards the Falklands people or government. We here in the UK only fund the defence of the islands. Much of this money would be spent anyway. The salaries of the 800 soldiers would be paid where ever they are based.

The funds for the oil exploration are from private investors and companies. The licences are paid to the Falklands government.

May I remind you that the per capita GDP of the Falklands is about 4 times that of Argentina. There are no unemployed, slums, drug problems, corruption or crime. Their economy is growing fast; the government provides free health care and free university education in Britain for any student who wants it.

Meanwhile in Argentina the President; head of state and head of the government disappears for 42 days whilst the capital city suffers days of electricity black outs. When looting breaks out during a police strike and when the currency is collapsing in value.

Even if these wells don't pan out which I doubt, it's worth it to see how it enrages people who can't do much about it and demonstrates exactly how dysfunctional the government who demand that islanders unconditionally surrender to their incompetence truly is. Then comes little Pau claiming that no one really cares about the Islands in Argentina and then com here to sniff, huff and sneer and feast on sour grapes. Clearly it bothered poor little Paul greatly that the Islanders are striving to succeed at high risk while his government fails him over and over and over again at the simple stuff.

For me, being, as you put it, a “real British taxpayer”, I am so glad that some of my taxes go towards the defense of the Falkland Islands.

It is worth it's weight in GOLD!!!

Moments like these, seeing our beloved cousins in the South Atlantic find riches and prosperity makes me realize that, in this case, the money that Mr Osborne robs off me, has been well spent.

    Good on you Falkland Islanders!!!!

Oh, of course, as a side to all of this, The thing that makes me happy ABOVE ALL ELSE is closing my eyes and imagining that look of enraged impotence on the faces of KFC and ALL her cronies when that black gold starts coming ashore and knowing she can't do a damn thing about it.

THAT is a picture worth paying for 10 times over!!!!

    @16 Paulcedron

I'm a real British taxpayer and I fully support my taxes going to defend the Falklands.

I do NOT in any way whatsoever, support the taxpayer's money that has gone to bale out scrounging Argentina-much more money I might add than has ever been spent on the Falklands.

Although I am, and DESPITE being, a self confessed, tight fisted, thick, (well a First Class Degree with Honours isn't as high as the qualification you have Paul, right?) straw-sucking farmer (ooohhh arrrr), I will be only too pleased to save up some money and spend it supporting the economy of the Falklands by being a tourist, IN ADDITION to hoping that my tax money gets spent defending the Islands from Imperialist Argentina.

So stuff that up yer fore end loader chay.
