Argentine foreign minister Hector Timerman called US senators Marco Rubio and Robert Menendez “extremists”, who don't represent the will of the Senate, the US government or the US people. Read full article
Argentina's façade is starting to slip and people are beginning to see the reality.
Hard to shut down debate in another country isn't it Timerman! Can't bully the media or sic the tax office on them. Guess you'll just have to listen for once.
I think the fact that one of the Senators is a Republican and the other is a Democrat seems to have gone unnoticed by Mr Timerman.
So you have the Republicans and the Democrats (who represent the political views of the majority of US citizens) both saying that Argentina isn't a healthy place economically right now.
Mr Timerman also doesn't realise that the Senate reflects the will of the people (it's called democracy), which in turn affects the US governments foreign policy.
And true to form, he cannot counter ANYTHING they said (because it is true), so he tries character assassination.
The fact that he slates one of them because he 'dared' to criticise his own President regarding Castro shows that Mr Timerman doesn't understand democracy, where it is not only the right of the people to question their Head of State and Government - it is their DUTY to do so.
Argentina is obviously upset with its inability to control what is said or published in the USA, why doesn't it pass a law allowing it to fins and imprison people in other countries who say things it does not like.
I know of at least one other country that treats its relations with Argentina in the same way as it treats North Korea, based largely on the bullying and unstable antics of Timmerman.
This government is so sensitive to any form of crtitsism. They realise that their policies aren't working but they don't know why. As such, they are unable to counter with economic arguments that make sense. As a result they have to resort to playgroung come backs along the line of calling someone a poo head. Really worrying when you reliase that they hold the fate of 40m people in their hands.
Isn't it fair to characterise Gollum as psychotic? Senator Rubio, a Cuban-American, has only been a Senator for 3 years. Strangely, Senator Menendez, also a Cuban-American, has only been a senator for for 8 years and is also the Chairman of the United States Senate Committee on Foreign Relations. Now there's someone a foreign politician might be unwise to upset. One cannot, of course, accuse Tinboy of not representing the will of the argie Congress or government. One wonders if he would represent the will of the argie people if their brainwashing were reversed and they were told the truth. There can be little doubt about the questioning of whether argieland is a mature democracy. It's neither. Good to see that a couple of U.S. senators are opposed to argieland's priorities. Barbarism, corruption, criminality, deviancy, fraud, genocide, larceny, mendacity, xenophobia are not good priorities. But then we come to a nub. Tinboy alleges a connection with the hedge funds trying to get argieland to pay up. But Rubio is also a member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee. Why wouldn't he be interested in a foreign country evading U.S. court judgements and trying to make a mockery of U.S. law? But it was a shame that Rubio compared argieland to North Korea. Argieland is MUCH worse. Does North Korea pretend to be democratic, honest, peaceful, respectful of other countries, truthful?
Haha, he feels so impotent. He can't send AFIP after them, threaten them with violence by sending the goon squad. He will have to crawl back into his cave and mutter curses at them in obscurity.
Does anything intelligent ever come out of TImmerman's mouth? Mr Potatohead is not liked or respected by any civilized country's foreign relations. To openly criticise 2 members of the US Senate Foreign relations committee is suicidal.
I can't wait until Argentina comes begging to the USA/IMF/WB/IDB and is met with a stone wall.
I will laugh and laugh.
... says the kapo who, of all people when you hear him hem and haw, will gladly talk to holocaust deniers and turn his back on the victims of the AIMA bombings but will run like a frightened little boy at the thought of having to sit with two democratically elected people representing those who he wants to rule AND whose wishes he is required by UN resolutions to account for and respect.
What a tool.
@9 I'm not sure anyone has told him this yet but his new job is to make anyone, and I mean ANYONE, who comes after him and his boss look good. And with that I have to hand it to him, he's doing a great job.
Rubio and Menéndez “are widely criticized for their extreme positions,” Timerman said, calling them ideologically opposed not only to many of Argentina’s priorities, but also to those of their own US citizens...as to being opposed to many Argentine priorities, no surprise....who's in favour of Argentina, put their hands up....let's count - Maduro, Fidel, Evito Morales, Caldera, Dilma...any one else ? what did you say, CFK ?? No, YOU can't vote !! too bad.
Now, based on what does he claim they are opposed to the priorities of US citizens - more likely opposed to the disastrous policies of the current administration.....but that's OK Timerman, just keep on lying...
Just read a wonderful account of Timmerman or tm as they bothered to call him. How Argentine or Argentinian is he? I believe the Falklanders have been down south a lot, lot longer than he or his family. oops shouldn't talk about that either. Hi Timberwolf!
They must be the most peculiar ally in the world, because neither do they pay their debts nor cooperate militarily.”
And Argentina naively spout that the USA support their claim for the Falkland Islands

Oh and Gollum instinctively knows what USA voters think right?

That's one great bonus for Argentina-they know life can only get better unless Gollum is suceeded by another idiot who has not looked up the word 'diplomacy' in the dictionary
