And your point is what exactly?

Are you saying the report is incorrect?

@2 Some people just have a one dimensional view of reality and everything has to be turned into a good vs evil, right vs wrong argument.

I guess some “turnips” can't pick out an good point when they hear it, even if they don't like the person that is saying it.

@1 Isn't latam the “land of the disappeared”. Would it be on a par with Africa? Or, depending on your point of view, is it better/worse? “Better” if you're in government, “worse” if you're a member of the family of one of the “disappeared”.

Part of the reason why the USA has the poor reputation that it has around the world is very simple.

It says one thing and does another on virtually every serious topic. I thought the UK had a problem in this area but the USA has turned it into an art.

Guantanamo Bay is a classic. Ragheads captured in the war zone and brought to Cuba. Why FFS? Could they not have been shot in combat or “escaping” after interrogation in the field? We are told that a number of potential attacks on the US have been averted by the interrogation of these Islamists but of course it’s too sensitive to even allude at what. And look at the bad faith this facility is engendering in the Muslim world.

They have martyrs already, a few hundred more would not have caused anywhere near the hand wringing that the bleeding hearts around the world have been guilty of.

The USA need to get a grip: do they want to win against insurgents or not? If they ARE the big dog in the back yard they need to start acting like it instead of a pussy cat when the do-gooders are given the ammunition they need to start trouble.
