I attended a Commonwealth day celebration yesterday in Birmingham.

It was excellent, with people from all over the Commonwealth coming together to share ideas, culture and the best of all - food! The food was excellent, with dishes from Jamaica, Nigeria, South Africa, India, Pakistan, Australia, Cameroon and dozens of others.

We all got together to eat, talk, dance (to traditional African and Indian music) and basically all had a great time.

The Commonwealth family is strong - 53 nations - all with common goals and shared principles, yet full of diversity. Brilliant.

There was a time in the early 1900s when an Argentine President suggested that Argentina was part of the British Empire such was his(and their) admiration and gratitude for the British presence in his country.

The people I talk to wish the English had won over the Spanish back when. This could be the Canada of the south.

@3 To be fair, argieland could be a completely different place. Credibility, friends, guts, honesty, intelligence, morals, rectitude, wisdom. Argieland could have had all of these.

Instead they breed hatred, suffer from incompetence, greed, immoral thinking,
They abuse the rights of others, and want what is clearly not theirs,

In a nutshell, they are rotten to the core..

    @4 & 5,
l was making a rather weak joke.
But you could well be right.
Argentina has all the resources, they just need an honest capable government.
l like the idea, a Canada of the south.
With English & Spanish as the official languages.
    What might have been...........

Oh! poor old Britons dreaming, and dreaming...

The fact is that Ukistand ended up like a province of Europe leading by Germany and France...

    Such irony of fate...

Or look poor DanyBerger is still spouting crap.

    But think upon this Dany.

The UK is certainly doing better than France right now, and isn't that far behind Germany (we may even overtake them).

Your beloved Argentina is devolving into a 3rd world country, then to the dark ages, then to the stone age.

A pretty impressive feat that could only be achieved by a bunch of terminally lazy and corrupt people.

You must be so proud to be number 1 - at FAILING.

Meanwhile, the Commonwealth and the UK goes from strength to strength.

No wonder you sound so jealous.

Are you drunk and joking right?

“The UK is certainly doing better than France right now, and isn't that far behind Germany (we may even overtake them).”

    UK GDP: $2.42 trillions
    France: $2.75 trillions

How can you overtake Germany an economy of $3.7 trillions that is 55% bigger than Britain with your death economy that only produces debt and deficits?

You will have to grow during 10 years at least at 5.5% rate annually while Germany should be frozen for the same period of time.

“No wonder you sound so jealous.”

    Really? About what?

Sorry for the spelling mistake is UKistan

The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.

UKistan is a perjorative, used in the context of the increasing influence of Islam in the UK, as a result of high levels of muslim immigration.

Christmas is now effectively outlawed in UKistan. Birmingham City Council renamed it 'Winterval', to avoid upsetting the muslims.
