Venezuela's annual inflation rate rose to 57.3% in February, the central bank said as violent opposition demonstrations during the month disrupted the economy. However the bank also pointed out that despite the protests inflation slowed on a month-on-month basis to 2.4% from 3.3% in January. Read full article

Just print my ore money to pay the bills...

Now why didn't my government think of that?

We could earn million dollar salaries and have no debt.... isn't that how it works?

Perhaps this is Maduro's method of solving the toilet paper scarcity?

Seriously, it would actually make more sense than many of the other Boli-bullshitters economic policies.

And who else is to blame? Surely there must be more. No, of course not...its all the fault of the US capitalists and imperialists....of course its not the fault of this communist government and its corruption.

    @3 Who else to blame?
I try to keep track, but I may have missed a few!
Maduro has claimed in the past year that......
    US/Panamanian/Uribe/CIA/LOPEZ/student/global-capitalists/ national political opposition/NTN24/neo-fascist/UN/OAS/importers/local businesses/ national print media/The Colombian Gov./ electrical wholesalers/foreign media/YouTube/wholesale food distributors/ Twitter/ foreign filmstars... are in a joint plot for a 'soft-coup' against him.
    Hope that helps!!!

@4 Venezuela owes billions of USD to international airlines.

No pay, no play. Who can blame them. (except Mas-Burro!).

It is now considered quite 'normal' in Venezuela to take a bus/drive to Bogota to get a flight to Europe/North America.

We have a number of middle class professional Venezuleans that have recently emigrated to Chile. The stories they tell are incredible. During the Allende government, we had shortages of almost everything, especially toilet paper...

Somebody from his guard is going to put a bullet in his head to solve the problem. The shooter won’t be the instigator, they never are.

I can see this coming sooner rather than later.

    OK, reality hit.
If I send money to my family in Venezuela....

    By Western Union (official rates)
    100 USD = 630 Bolivars
By Black Market (I use Euros)
    100 Euros = 11,600 Bolivars, (100 Euros = 139 USD, for your information)

Moral dilemma? Not when your family is involved....

    What would you do?

Thank you #5. You are right. All of those have been mentioned as conspirators against him. Maybe he will get the message?

Deluded, stupid and easily-led, yes. Slightly mad, yes.

What I meant was the pressure and paranoia will drive him to a full-blown dribbling, swivel-eyed gibbering wreck.
Not far off now... the cracks are showing, all the signs are there...

“ Mr Maduro said that airlines that reduced their operations in Venezuela would face ”severe measures“.

”The company that leaves the country will not return while we hold power,“ said Mr Maduro ”

More “with us or against us” paranoia.

    Threatening Canadian airlines???????.??

Their stated reason was that they are scared to fly there because it is so dangerous. How is this going to help matters.

Does Maduro seek the isolation achieved by North Korea?

I am beginning to think so. ..
