On the 32nd anniversary of the Argentine military invasion of the Falkland Islands, 2 April 1982, the Argentine embassy in London made public a release saying that the UK and Argentina have the opportunity to set an example to the world, and future generations by resolving the Malvinas question through peaceful and diplomatic means. The right to self-determination prevails and is confirmed by 5 UN ICJ Advisory Opinions and 1 judgment. It is solely up to the Falkland Islanders to determine how and by whom they are governed. It's also as Ban Ki-Moon confirmed on 12th November 2012 - the UK is not in breach of ANY 'relevant' UN resolutions regarding the Falklands.

Do please tell me Alicia- or Think- or Axel or any Argentine on here- WHY did your Foreign Minister then REFUSE the invitation to talks with the British Foreign Secretary whilst in London last year?
Don't tell me - it was because he was scared pantless of having to sit also with a couple of elected members from the Islands Govt?
If he does not talk to them how can he ever learn what our interests are - let alone wishes!
Oh sorry - I forgot- In Argentina,s version of democracy it is different - somebody else decides what is in your interest - and if you complain then the “nasties” start visiting!

Jesus Christ!!!!! We have already made an example of argentina to the world!!!! What more does she want????

We have already showed the whole world what happens when you try and f**k with our citizens, with their land and with their way of life!!!

Do you want us to show you again???

Well Ambassador Alicia Castro, you try that s**t again and we will come back down south and take your f**king head off.

Or you could just shut up, go away and never mention it ever again.

We should have gone the whole hog and brought Argentina to it's knees in 1982, instead we listened to the Yanks and did not give Argentina a bloody nose. All this nonesense about sovereignty would not be relevant now.

Agreed. However, the US pressured us into not bombing Argentina because they thought it would alienate those other South American countries that were fighting communist insurgents.

However, should Argentina ever be stupid enough to try again, we won't be held back, regardless of how much the US wants us to. We'll bomb every single military target that we can. We'll annihilate what's left of their navy (not much as they seem to have scuttled it themselves), annihilate their airforce, and bomb any army facility into slag.

And we'll keep it up until they surrender unconditionally. Then they'll have to make huge concessions.

Remove the stupid clause in their constitution (they change it constantly anyway so it shouldn't be too hard), Patagonia should be given to the native amerindians as a homeland, and Argentina should have to return all the land it stole from Paraguay, Uruguay and Chile.

Any Argentine who lives in Patagonia will be given a choice - move to Argentina or change citizenship to become a part of the newly formed amerindian nation.

Then they should sign, before the whole world, a confession that their claims on the Falklands are all based on lies, and that they renounce their absurd sovereignty claims.

Then, and only then, will there be peace.

Argentina is an impotent wannabe colonialist country, with delusions of grandeur. I doubt they'll ever be in the position to militarily threaten the Falklands, hence why they keep begging their neighbours to sacrifice their young men on Argentina's behalf.

Their neighbours aren't that stupid though.

It is interesting how she perceives this matter as an unresolved issue for the UK. I'm not aware of any political discomfort in the UK about how unresolved we are about the Falkland Islands to the detriment of our future generations.

I would be intrigued as to how many Argentines believe their government when they talk about the Falkland Islands from a British perspective. The truth is that it is a none issue in the UK, we fought a war and we won and everyones lives went back to normal.

Its an Argentine issue, its yours. Your desperate longing and envy for something you cannot have and never belonged to you has warped you as a nation. Argentina is sick and needs a therapist.

My god these banana politicians and spokespeople! It can't just be the translation, but every public utterance and speech they make comes across as nothing more than verbal diarreah.

This is all about engaging anyone who will listen (not the FI or UK, no point): they want others to fight their battles and press their case. Its that desperate.

And what happened in February of last year?. Who came? Who set up refreshments and comfy chairs? Who was ready to talk? Who was ready to host a Nixon Goes to China Moment?

And who RAN? A “statesman” from a country of millions too afraid to sit down with TWO (2, this many: **) elected representatives of a few thousand, but (and he's a Jew to boot) happily sat down with homicidal antisemites to cover for their own murder of fellow Argentine citizens (who also happened to be Jews) to hammer out a deal to forget the whole thing.

What a sad joke these people are. How can anyone outside the bubble of this “conflict” take childishly passive aggressive Argentina seriously.

I've finally figured out something that was confusing me: Given her (complete lack of) diplomatic ability, why doesn't the UK not just declare her persona non grata and kick her out?

The answer is surprisingly obvious once you think about it. If Ambush Alicia represents the Argentines 'A' game in the diplomatic arena, who the hell would we get if we forced them to play their 'B' game? Vlad the impaler?

You are quite right of course. However, it is amusing to see all the La Campora trolls and Malvinista's start rabidly drooling at the mouth, because they believe that there government is actually making progress.

There is a saying of taking 1 step forwards, and 2 step back. In Argentina they just seem to be constantly going backwards, no forward motion at all. Like floundering in quick sand. It's futile, eventually they'll be in over their heads and they'll drown, and not one of their so-called South American brothers will throw them a line to help them.

“181 years on from the British usurpation of the Malvinas Islands...”

You mean recovery. You were the ones attempting to usurp the Falklands, remember?

“The United Kingdom and the Argentine Republic have the opportunity to set an example to the world by resolving the Malvinas Question through peaceful and diplomatic means. Above all, we have the obligation and the responsibility not to leave the dispute and its consequences unresolved for future generations”

And the best and fairest outcome is Argentina unequivocably apologising for their illegal invasion of 1982, acknowledging the legitimate inhabitants of the Falklands as such instead of slandering them with the false label “squatters”, and permanently relinquishing their fake claims to the Falkland Islands.

However, that would require honesty on your part. I doubt you have it in you to do the right thing.

“the best way to remember and pay tribute to those who died in the 1982 war, from both countries is to promote dialogue and peace.”

The British are keeping the peace. Therefore promoting it.

The British offered dialogue last year-which Argentina refused therefore the British according to Castro are honouring the dead.

When is Argentina going to honour the dead?

“ Argentina’s democratic government calls for the resumption of bilateral negotiations to resolve the sovereignty dispute, in accordance with over 40 United Nations resolutions and the call from the whole international community .”

What's the Argentine definition of' whole'?

Does whole mean something different in Spanish?

If this woman was as shit a trolley dolley as she is an 'ambassador' I'm glad I never flew on a plane she was on.

Arg Air: This is your Capitaine speaking-we are presently climbing to 5000 feet and will make it shortly when we can get the second engine to go again, but don't fret amigos, I once took a Skyhawk back to base after getting half the wing shot off by a Sea Harrier so you are in safe hands. Also do not be alarmed if one of the engines detaches from the wings-we have ex-Airforce personnel servicing the aircraft. I will hand you over to the stewardess for the safety briefing. Thank you for flying with Arg Air and with any luck we will get to the next airport.

Castro: Welcome to this flight from BA to Monte, if during the flight the pilot has to crash land or ditch, don't worry he is a Malvinas veteran, who survived everything the gringos threw at him and he still got back. We won't sink as this is not a navy ship-ha ha. Now when, sorry if, there is an emergency you will find the emergency exits.......pause, then total silence. Errrr your lifejackets can be found.... searches around the cabin........total silence.

@18 LEPRecon that one step forward two back is a variation on the Italian marching method. As you have observed their peaceful approach to their Malvina's question is anything but peaceful and is not actually directed at succeeding in their stated aim. I believe that their aggressive approach is just a bit of rather pathetic willy waving from a safe distance. It keeps the moronic masses from spotting the corruption and crass mismanagement on the RG governments part.
Its really difficult for us people from the sane civilised world to understand. Dr Goebbels would have been proud of Gollum, KFC and the trolley dolly.

Remember France, before the 1789 Revolution? In Charles Dickens' novel, “Tale of Two Cities,” he begins ”It was the best of times, it was the worst of times . . . There were a king with a large jaw and a queen with a plain face, on the throne of England; there were a king with a large jaw and a queen with a fair face, on the throne of France. In both countries it was clearer than crystal to the lords of the State preserves of loaves and fishes, that things in general were settled for ever. . . . France, less favoured on the whole as to matters spiritual than her sister of the shield and trident, rolled with exceeding smoothness down hill, making paper money and spending it. . . . she (CFK) entertained herself, besides, with such humane achievements as sentencing a youth to have his hands cut off, his tongue torn out with pincers, and his body burned alive, because he had not kneeled down in the rain to do honour to a dirty procession of monks which passed within his view, at a distance of some fifty or sixty yards. It is likely enough that, rooted in the woods of France and Norway, there were growing trees, when that sufferer (CFK) was put to death, already marked by the
    Woodman”

'What did she do before sparring with British politicians?'

'She used to represent Argentine flight attendants as General Secretary of the Air Crew Association of Argentina union from 1991 to 2003.
She went on to be the Argentine ambassador to Venezuela from 2006. But the most entertaining detail is an apparently very close relationship – although she denies it was improper – with the now deceased president of Venezula, Hugo Chavez.'

    http://www.independent.co.uk/i/page-3-profile-alicia-castro-argentinas-ambassador-to-the-uk-8779016.html

This is the most authoritative information available about this Argentinian member of the nation's political elite - at least in the English language.
Argentina does not chose to offer any background on her.
    Did she receive an education?
    Was she ever married?
    Children?
    Or simply Chavez's mistress?

Does anybody know anything about her?

I guess she must have first serviced Chavez when she was a trolley-dolly.

But it still doesn't explain the absence of her from the internet; ambassadors invariably have a high profile. She is 'invisible' - this can only be, for some unfathomable reason, by government design.
There is something 'very murky' here.
