Perhaps the UK needs to start banging the drum about the occupation of Ceuta and Melilla.

Maybe Gibralter could twin with a town or two in the catalan area, could be funny, perhaps the Falklands ould twin with Gibralter, some catalan towns and Munich, as they seem to be interested in splitting from Germany at some stage

The UK, Gibraltar and the Falkland Islands for have to do diddly squat.

You could have every single official from both Spain and Argentina say the same thing and there will be no effect. They are on the wrong side of history. The existence of these two nations is now permanent and neither Spain nor Argentina has ever given a single reason for them to join their neighbours. Nor trust them.

The UK will one day lose sovereignty over these two BOTs. However the result won't make Spain or Argentina any happier (or bigger).

Spain is trapped in the EURO & many in its government want out but they are in a financial prison, powerless to do anything while they watch their country deteriorate. What better way to get out than destroy the foundations of the EU & further undermine the membership of Britain, one of the few non Euro members who's already on verge of leaving & who's departure would cause the collapse of the EU freeing Spain.

Presumably Rio Grande and Tierra del Fuego also supports Spain's North African colonial enclaves? “Arh, but, yes but, no but....blah blah blah”.

And so it goes, a new coalition of the hypocrtics and flag burners forms into immediate obscurity and to be instantly ignored by anyone that matters.

The Spanish were warned by the UK that they would be judged by the company they keep.

One thing is for certain, teaming up with Argentina to further their cause is the kiss of death to their cause.

Cedron - your “highlights” concern a very small minority of the British residents and tourists to Spain. So really they are of no concern to the British readers here.

In fact, there are some indications that there may be more Spaniards incarcerated in British jails that there are Brits in Spanish jails. Mainly for drugs offences.

Having lived in Spain for many years and in receipt of a Spanish state pension I can testify to the fact that the British are generally very well received there.

    http://www.express.co.uk/news/uk/197439/British-women-tourists-are-the-ugliest-in-the-world

add to all that, that british tourists are famous for three main activities: drinking, vomiting and after that, quarreling among themselves.

luckily they do not come here too often, except for the polo season.
you can recognize them very easily.

britain with its wonderful beaches, great weather, great food and wine, beautiful women, wonderful natural atractions (their mountains, glaciers and waterfalls are astonishing), would have been a good tourist destination

Unfortunately some people think that to crictise the alleged faults of the UK somehow justifies the the failings of other countries.
An arguement I do not employ.
I am extremely critical of the countries in SA that I have experience of, (meaning I have house/business/family there), or have studied at University in UK or or those countries (post-grad), or do business with currently!
I am critical with both experience and justification - see above.

I have family who inform me, and I travel/work there regulary, unlike some.

However, I genuinely want the best for LA, I just despair of CERTAIN regimes. The Pacific Alliance looks promising though.

You're right we do have wonderful beaches - from the unspoilt Orkneys to the sandy beaches of Devon and Cornwall and even the pebbly beaches of Sussex. Weather can be a bit up and down. It's true, we do have great food - a large number of Michelin stared restaurants (157 - how many does Argentina have by the way?) and possibly the most diverse cuisine in the world. You're right, we have some beautiful scenery, from Cornwall and Devon, the South Downs, through the Lake District to the highlands. Of course, what we really excel in is culture - for example, we have 3 of the top 5 visited museums in the entire world - and they're ALL FREE.

As already pointed out the UK receives almost 6 times as many tourists as Argentina. You really are not very clever are you? I'm still intrigued where your rambling anti-British vitriol comes from.

P.S. “beautiful women” - Assuming you're being sarcastic... this comment just demonstrates how much of a child you are, the UK is a state, NOT a fucking brothel for sex tourists.

I called out a yellow chopper to pick a lad out of the sea and I believe Prince William was flying it-obviously an unarmed yellow Sea King is an Argentine's worst nightmare, but don't worry amigos-Prince William is no longer based nearby, so if Sea Kings minus the Prince don't worry you-try Shell Island or any other beach you fancy.

Another “first” for you. International surfing competitions are held in Tiree and Dunnet Head sands and attract the world's best surfers. I don't recognize your temperatures of -15°C as a frequent low on the coast , in the Cairngorms maybe but nobody surfs at 1300 metres altitude in Winter...snowboard mainly

Depends where you are in Britain for rainfall.

    Pabby niño,
You probably don't realise that the Brits can simply nip next door, not far at all, and enjoy a ski holiday in Switzerland France Austria perhaps.
Favourable currency exchange and less distance than most Argentines need to travel - by “overnight bus” or whatever.

    Whereas,
Argentina - I bet business will start to suffer now.
Soon, it will only be the Chileans or Bolivians that can afford Argentine resorts. In fact, good for you that as your Ruble or 'strung-beads' worthless currency plummets, more foreigners will come for a cheap Argie holiday and you will line to be attendants or waiters, scrabbling for tips.

After the 2014 Brazillian WC fiasco, followed by the impending Olympics disaster, few Euros will travel to South America for a holiday - you don't have the infrastructure!

How many buildings, Malls, Airports, houses, do you think will be constructed in BA or Argentina with a Real Estate crash and a consumer base that has dried up?
How many jobs for Pablo the wannabe architect ??

Havanna might be hiring junior positions for a while, yet, and there is always seasonal work at the resorts.

@paulcedron - you may mock us and you are welcome to do so! But how do you explain Britain is among the top destinations for international tourists?

Maybe it is due to the cultural activities that are on offer? For example, the theatres, opera and ballet performances which are packed out night after night. Or may be the restaurant scene, which in spite of the reputation of English food, is now a subject of much envy, even from the French.

Tourists are generally welcome here and even the most naive of them is treated with respect - we don't often hear about visitors to Britain being murdered as has happened recently in Argentina.

Troy@55, the fact that 90% of the Chinese who apply for visas to the Argentine are turned down, is Argentina's loss.... billions of USD they don't get in tourist revenues...and even if the Chinese DO go with the intention of staying on illegally, so what ?? at least they stay on to work and to make money, not sponge off the taxpayers. Here in Sao Paulo, you see more n more chinese every day, perhaps many illegal, but none of them are begging in streets or getting involved in petty crime.

Fascinating reading from that Argentine judge. Argentina needs to forget about the Falklands for 100 years. A very sensible idea indeed. However, all the indications are that they are going to whip themselves up into another frenzy and do something very very stupid again.

It is clear though from their very own judiciary that they stand absolutely no chance of taking the islands on any legal footing.

    Jack,

Got to admit I'm troll-baiting here.
Obviously, it is very short-sighted of the Arg. government to deny them entrance. From what I read, the Chinese in Argentina are entrepreneurs and run many small businesses - probably not qualifying for any Government programs, as they are fully employed and deemed to be able to afford to pay taxes.
Any new “illegals” would not be a drain on the government welfare system.
I wonder if the Arg government simply does not recognise the income potential from Chinese tourism and investment, or is it being racist and/ or protectionist ??

I am interested to see if Pab lo Casey wishes to embrace this relationship, or labels the Chinese as a “threat”.

I know what Dunny Burger would say.

Sorry, chico, you are way off-base, not to mention, off-topic.
You are betrayed by your own linked article - again!
    “Own goal-l-l-l, Pablo-o-o-o... ”

Nowhere does it say that “No Romanians” is an official UK Government Policy.
In fact, it was a reduction in official restrictions to admittance, that occurred.

And the UK Government released findings that they expected very few new Romanian or Bulgarian immigrants,

“A report commissioned by the UK government in 2010 estimates 8,000 Romanians will come to Britain in 2014.”

Can you not read??? LOL, what a chump!

Did you not also read that public perception was deliberately swayed by alarmist politicians of the UKIP ??

“it is a huge field open to speculations exploited by tabloid media and xenophobic politicians.”

“The media shapes public opinion and, as we can see, it is a clear gap between predictions, perception and reality”

The UKIP do NOT represent the Law, Official Policy, the UK Government, or even the majority of public sentiment.
It also manipulates or invents issues to suit its own motives.
(Shameful that CFK and Maduro, as Heads of State do the same thing)

    As ilsen @62 said,
“Last census showed that 192 different languages or dialects are spoken in London.

    “...we even let Argies in!”

What on earth do the ILLEGAL immigrants have to do with war criminals, the latter, once they are discovered, are charged with their crimes and then either imprisoned or deported.

War crimes have nothing to do with those illegal immigrants who arrive in the UK usually with the sole purpose of taking advantage of our very generous social security arrangements. Most of them don't even know where they are sometimes and “lose” their passports and other documentation to avoid being returned to their country of origin.

Think nothing of it, it's cool. I am sick of the little twerps talking the world when not even old enough to have left school yet.

Idiots like paulcedron have started to annoy me, and I feel bad because I try to live and let live, but those idiots who think that they are right just because they say so.........................

    Clowns, the lot of them.

The post at 99 just proved you right................

I'm bored of his crap too - perhaps time for some off-topic chat, instead?

Two days ago, on CBC News, our respected national news radio, there was a report about the Columbian Border Patrol intercepting Venezuelan black marketeers smuggling a truck load of meat across, to sell at huge profit in Columbia.

With Maduro's price controls on food, the black market is thriving. Suppliers are unable to cover their costs of production, selling legally.
A result is a thriving black market with vast amounts of good crossing the border - while Venezuelan people face empty shelves.

Stevie and his ilk are loving this!
