    Interesting place to visit if you ever get the chance, implanted population that gained independence from Portugal in 1975, thus they exercised their right to self determination as per the UN charter. One of the last places to have 'slaves' (forced paid labour) right upto 1910
    Lovely people, friendly and trusting (we were invited to dinner by the bank clerk to meet her family) and great surf too.

    @2

    Arhh your new besties, the Chagonese....

    I think you'll find Sao Tome and Principe have adequate natural water and resources to support habitable life without the need of “zee nasty inglish empire” to subsidise them.

    @2 Yeah. Remember that you were invaded and “colonised” by the Portuguese. Remember how it took 226 years to be able to govern yourselves? Don't the Falklands have 45 years to go? How fortunate for Sao Tome that they only had to cope with the Portuguese slavery instead of the French version. Should we mention the “Batepá Massacre” where several hundred African “labourers” were murdered by their Portuguese rulers in 1953. Yeah, just look at that, Portuguese slave-owners still murdering their property in 1953. Meanwhile, can we have a “vestige” of an intelligent comment?
