HMS Portland on Atlantic patrol, became the first Royal Navy Ship to visit São Tomé and Príncipe in 29 years when she anchored off the islands for a two day visit. The last Royal Navy Ship to visit the former Portuguese colony was the survey vessel HMS Herald in 1985. Prior to that, the last recorded visit of a Royal Naval Warship was in 1889. Read full article

@2 Yeah. Remember that you were invaded and colonised by the Portuguese. Remember how it took 226 years to be able to govern yourselves? Don't the Falklands have 45 years to go? How fortunate for Sao Tome that they only had to cope with the Portuguese slavery instead of the French version. Should we mention the Batepá Massacre where several hundred African labourers were murdered by their Portuguese rulers in 1953. Yeah, just look at that, Portuguese slave-owners still murdering their property in 1953. Meanwhile, can we have a vestige of an intelligent comment?
